Somethings I throw out without telling him- Old socks, underwear, t-shirts even shoes, even a really old computer with boxes of games that had been stored for about 10 years. Other times I have said right lets do a "ten item challenge" where each of us has to pull our 10 least favourite items from wardrobe or book shelf etc for charity shop. Yesterday I pulled out some dvds and said "any problem with these going? He actually said no and then pulled out some more that he doesn't mind clearing out.

I boxed up OH's 'treasure' and stuffed it in the loft. His clothes I bin as and when they come through the wash.. pants with no elastic are on my current hit list.. I bought him loads of new pairs so as the old ones come through the wash they are binned.. holey socks I bin instantly.. I have taken them off peoples feet and binned them lol. He has 2 tshirts I have my beady eye on too.. one is really holey and the other is badly faded.

I just sorted my 8 y/o CoDs so she can fit all her stuff in her 3 drawers and she has next to nothing left! .. off to do my 10 y/os when I have had lunch and recovered! 1/2 binbag for school 'spares' box and a whole binbag for CS and a few items to save for m 2 y/o (8 y/o is little and 2 y/o is huge)

It's OH's various collections which drive me mad. Rugby programmes, WW1 videos, both taped and purchased, books, LPs, cassettes!

So a big bag ready to go to charity and a few things thrown in the bin and we visited sister-in-law and came home with a boot full for DS. All useful stuff including some furniture for his room but nevertheless I find my self saying "Doh!" and slapping my palm against my forehead.

    hi all

trip to the CS yesterday with 8 cuddly toys of varying sizes, a bowl, a pot, a t-shirt, a magazine rack and two carrier bags of books.

I had a trip to Homesense on Thursday - spent a little money but I was quite disciplined (for me!) and didn't buy any bedding or cushions. I did buy two presents (a christening present and a father's day present) and a lovely vase reduced from £20 to £8.

The boiler is in and the house feels so much warmer than it did before. It has meant that we have had quite a tidy up in the kitchen and a lot of things went into the bin that have been "hovering" - I had not quite decided to thrown them, even though I knew I should.

Thanks to everyone for continuing to post - I read all the posts and I am so impressed by how much progress you make.

    morning all
good day yesterday, DD took all the clothes of hers id got out of the loft, what she doesnt want she will CS or carboot but whatever she decided they are gone from here. also donated to her a popcorn maker that has sat unused in the kitchen for over a year.
DH went through the work papers piled on the landing and about a 1/3 of them went in the recycling
decanted 2 half empty protein drinks powder containers into one so a huge empty one of them has gone in recycling.
got a box of papers to go through from the attic as lots need shredding - that my task for this morning.

cracked plastic storgage box from out of attic will be used as my next CS donations box, i can take the stuff to them in it and if they cant make use it can be thrown by them ive already made a start and put some revision guides and a wicker basket in it.

got to pass Ts later so will take cans, coathangers and plastic bags for their recycling bins

Wow, still lots of de-cluttering happening on this thread.

I'm still plodding along, doing a bit every week.

I've got several pairs of trousers up on eBay this week and at the weekend, OH's old trousers will be listed. We've both expanded round the middle, and our old trousers no longer fit. /so we're selling them, to help finance new trousers!

The things that left the house in the last week are

    252 Old photos – eBay
253 Pair of socks with holes –bin
    254 Old hairdryer- electrical recycling
255 Two old postcards – eBay
    256 4 jigsaws - eBay
