Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Hi all
Mind if I join you? I have been attempting bits of decluttering for a while now but havent made much progress. I am starting to get a bit more determined though.
Had a real lightbulb moment yesterday. I found one of my boys favourite baby books in a drawer (he's 12 now) and I thought, oh I cant throw that out he loved that book so much. Then I thought, its a tatty book. I could buy a dozen copies of it on Amazon if I wanted. And I still have the memories of him cuddled up to me looking at it whether the actual book is gathering dust in a drawer or not.
Its like something has clicked and I am on a mission. I then found some tatty paper Christmas decorations belonging to my granny and binned them. I can imagine her tutting and shaking her head at the thought of me keeping them in the first place!
The big task is the built in cupboard in our bedroom. Although money is tight I am going to invest in some storage boxes to fit on the shelves - then instead of random things stuffed on the shelves I will actually be able to organise it properly. I dont even really know whats in there at the moment!
The other thing I have to decide about are the Enid Blyton books under my bed. They have never been out of the box in 10 years. Is there any point in keeping them??
Off to browse online and find some cheap storage boxes that are the right size.0 -

Just popping in to say hello, I've not done any decluttering this week only focussed on the basics of laundry, food prep etc as taken Lilyplonk's advice take it easy and not worry about things while I adjust to the meds.
Feeling a bit better now so hoping to get something done next week, although school holiday starts Wednesday afternoon so the boys will be about more. Will see if I can get them to declutter some toys though which would be helpful.
OK, off to see what you have been up to.

I feel at a bit of a loose end this afternoon.
On Saturday afternoons I normally do my eBay listing, but I'm having this weekend off, as I want to avoid listings ending over Easter. It'll be really busy in the post office on the Tuesday after Easter and I hate queueing.
Since Christmas I've done the majority of what I want to do in the house on the de-cluttering front. There's still a few bits around, but nothing significant.
I've got some things waiting to be listed on eBay, which I'll look at next weekend, and I don't really want to get more things down from the loft until I've reduced the eBay pile. So I've stopped for a little while.
I'll summarise the 'things out of the door' tomorrow.
Something that was already out of the door received attention this week. We had some one round to cut back the large shrubs in the garden and my husband power washed the patio on Wednesday. However, not much else will happen in the garden until there is some warmer weather.
I'll report back tomorrowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Just some basics for me:
Load of washing done & now drying on airer. To cold & occasional snow showers outside.
Bathroom cleaned & bin emptied
Inside windows cleaned (which included removing poppy the cats nose art).
Pair of trainers added to the cs pile
Kitchen bin also emptied.
Few things put into recycling bin.
Large empty bird seed bag put into bin (seed put into storage bins I've got)
Cat litter tray cleaned out & re-filled earlier on in week0 -
I've done a couple of things today inbetween other things I've had to do!
Used up a perfume sample
Used up the rest of a face mask sachet
Given away some make-up samples to my mum that I won't use
Thrown away unwanted leaflets
Ripped out diary pages from a 2012 diary, however I am recycling the ones not written on by using them for to-do lists
Hope I can do a few more bits and bobs later...every little bit counts!0 -
The only thing decluttered today is a Husband out the door with it being firmly shut & locked behind him!
He will need to make an appointment to collect his stuff as I am no longer at his beck and call :(:o:mad::(
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming is my current mantra..."There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇0
