When padded envelopes get too worn to re-use you can split them open and use them to line boxes/larger envelopes for posting. You can also cut them up and use them as packing.
Or you can use them like I have and catch mice in them that the cat has brought in (yes really). :T It's an art form I tell you :rotfl:

You know the cat's only bringing them in live because it wants you to learn how to catch them, don't you! LOL
We had a similar situation years ago while one of our cats taught the other one to catch baby rats! It lasted all Summer until the second one finally cottoned on, then we never had another.
Perhaps you ought to parade around proudly with the tail sticking out of your mouth a bit, so the cat thinks it's done it's job!!A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
If you cut the top diagonally off a washing powder box, cover it with gift wrap or paint it and you have a great storage box for magazines etc.Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

this is such a good idea!I wanted to organze all our various things..baby magazines, computer and music etc but was loath to pay £3.99 for four dividers in wHsmiths
It's always tempting to put magazines in the recyle box but I always later think of something I read and realise I've chucked it out.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -

Does anone have an alternative use for a tea strainer? i got one when going through a phase of drinking health teas, but it is now an almost redundant piece of kitchenalia.
I do use it in cooking sometimes, i.e in a thai curry i put lemongrass and lime leaves in it, so we don't have to pick them out at the table, or miss one and get a nasty shock when we bite into it.
any other ideas?Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
In answer see Aril's post from 1/7/2005 as below.....
Our coffee maker has packed up after 15 years faithful service. Initially I thought I would buy a cafetiere but following on from a little lateral thinking I dug around in our cupboard and found an unused jug we had been bought as a present. I then invested 0.35p in a fine mesh tea strainer from Wilko and hey presto one perfectly adequate coffee maker although not as glam as the all singing all dancing machine in Argos it has to be said!!

If you are staying in a hotel with an ice machine, you can either put the ice in your drinking glass or struggle to fit more than one can in the room ice bucket.
When you pack your case for your hols, put a floppy sided cool bag inside. On arrival at your hotel, layer the bottom of your cool bag with ice and place in the bath. The cool bag will hold lots of cans and food stuff and keep them chilled for hours or overnight. Then it's simple to move the bag out of the way when you need a shower or bath.
As the ice melts, the water will leak through the bag and drain away......it should only need a once daily top up with ice.
Some hotels charge (a fortune) for daily fridge hire so you can save money by using their free ice and your cool bag.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0
