Made a quilt from old silk ties.
Cut plastic Milk bottles to make scoops
Cut them in half bottm for seedlings top inside bottom for growing bulbs in water
Egg boxes into christmas decorations, polystyrene works best
Padded foil for behind radiators, used off cuts to line hubby's work boots
Use bed quilts on the floor when babies visit.
If I think of more I'll post them.

I'm using the small (1pt) plastic milk containers (from work) to freeze home-made stock in. Saves using my regular small plastic freezer boxes. Going to try freezing soup in these as well.Enjoying an MSE OS life0

Re ;the breast pads If you ask your health visitor she will know a Mum that is a bit broke and donate them. Or find your local Meet-a-Mums-Association group there's lots of Mums with babies there that would be grateful. My daughter runs one locally for depressed and post-natal ladies, and has helped no end of young Mums with all sorts of problems. We also donate unwanted toys to them to pass on ,you know the ones that your kids have grown out of.
Old video tapes that aren't used anymore, if you have bushes or small trees that the birds are pinching the fruit off drape them with unravelled video tape as it blows and glitters in the wind and does seem to work better than cd's
Instead of buying those door stops to stop little ones from catching their fingers, wind an old sock or pair of tights around the inside and outside door handles it stops the door from shutting and nipping their fingers. My daughter found that he little one was facinated with the kitchen cupboards ,as she had door knobs on them she wound a couple of rubber bands around each handle and it meant that he couldn't get into trouble. The ones that the postman usually drops on the pavement outside your house are good.
Old broom handle thats lost it's head can be re-used to hold up a small bush or weeping willow until it is stong enough to stand on its own It can be a bit windy near where I live so shrubs and trees need a bit of support.
Old argos catalogues are handy for little ones to use for cutting out for a scrapbook, or the baby plays with it, and if torn it's not a disaster.0 -
Pierce a garden cane and your plant label and use a treasury tag to attach both to cane. Saves losing the position of the plant and its individual name. Could try lolly sticks too but I think that might split.0

starlite wrote:a great idea, i remember putting his changing mat on our bed to do his nappy and a big stream spreading halfway across the bed..lol......
My DS used to do this every time he was changed for the first month or so - gave up using a changing mat and changed him on a bath towel instead. When I got the second or so of warning that I was about to get a shower just flick the side of the towel over to cope with the mess.0 -

Some hotels charge (a fortune) for daily fridge hire so you can save money by using their free ice and your cool bag.;)
on a similar note
we brought along our camping pans/plates etc on a trip to the states. we then walked down the road about a mile to get a tin of canned heat and some spray bleach for a few dollars.
we had an aldi across the room from our hotel room so we did a good stock up there
then each time we wanted to cook we laid a towel down on the table, took the lid off the toilet cistern, cleaned it well then put it down on the towel on the table and used this as a fireproof area to place the canned heat on. we then cooked our meals

Saving slivers of soap seems to be popular - here's one method I used ages ago, but have been too idle to use recently! Cut the top off a squeezy bottle, put the slivers in it and when it's nearly full pour some boiling water in it. When it finally dries out you get a cylinder of soap!0
