Pooh!!!!! I love how when I feel that I have finally gotten a grip of my life, something comes and bites me in the backside. Have spent the best part of today in the A&E... Long story short, had nasty fall on some concrete, have a tennis ball size lump on my head which sprung up pretty much immediately and have a very badly bruised back, pelvis, neck and should, not to mention my general ego :(

Anyway, ambulance refused to come out even though I lost my vision and couldn't move very well so OH took me straight to the hospital. Within 10 minutes of being there, I was struggling to breathe, vomiting and lost feeling in my hands and legs. Tried to alert a nurse who told me to calm down and wait my turn.... Thankfully for me, my OH and some very kind people helped to calm me down. 3 hours later, I finally got assessed and had to then wait for a minor injuries dr. Another hour passed, before I was seen and x-rayed (thankfully I haven't broken anything) and have been carted off with a prescription for paracetamol. My biggest concern at the moment is that at no point did they check the giant lump on my head properly and I still really don't feel right :(

However, one thing this did show me is that there are still people out there who are kind and unselfish enough to stop and help at various points of my awful day! Always a silver lifting, even if they show themselves in random places.

It does mean now that I have to go shopping tomorrow though which wasn't how I envisaged my 1st day of the new year, however, it is all still dependent on whether I can move, but I guess things could have been worse!
  • Oh, you poor thing! Hope you start to feel better soon.
  • Good Morning lovely NSD-ers :)

Front page all updated and there is 66 of us taking on our own personal NSD challenges so far this month.
That is a brilliant number of us and I hope we all stick around to support and motivated each other :A

Remember - it is not always about hitting that magic number we have set ourselves but more about challenging the when, where and why we spend. It's taking small steps and changing habits and everytime we make a decision about not to buy something we have huge victories.

Have a great last day of 2013 :) Que sera, sera :)

I'm pleased it doesn't start until tomorrow - I've managed to spend over £100 today!!!!:eek::eek:

  • I would like to join please!

I've been watching these NSD challenges for a while, so now seems like as good a time as any! I wanted to get ahead of the game and have a NSD today, but the Big Issue seller outside the train station when I picked up my DS and his GF was sooo sweet I couldn't resist! Didn't expect to pay 3 quid mind!

Anyway, that's all I have spent today, and I consider that it was for a good cause.

In January, I will say 10 NSDs, 2 lots of 5 together! yay!

Miss_t - how awful. I hope you are feeling much, much better. :A:A

The only thing I know about head injuries is that if you start to vomit again or have dizziness, drowsiness or blurred vision, you must see a doctor asap. And I am sorry to say this but your OH must try to make sure he can rouse you when you fall asleep. If he can't he needs to dial 999.

That all sounds rather alarmist and I'm sure you'll be just fine. Sending you a massive ((((hug)))) carefully not touching your sore bits :)

Hope you're feeling ok. If you really don't feel right then you should go back to A&E. They shouldn't let a head injury go unchecked. Although, I was always told that a lump was good because it means you're swelling outwards instead of in towards your brain etc.
    Get well soon... :)

  • Ouch Miss T (((hugs))) what a day ... and not a nice way to round off the year!

Hope you're feeling a bit better - I'd 2nd what Freeby has said in that if you feel dizzy, sick etc, you really must go back and be checked out again.

Thanks guys! OH was very good at keeping me awake in the hospital and I do feel a lot better in terms of alert at the moment. OH is not very happy with the hospital, but we have both agreed that if I do still feel bad, that's where I am going back to.

I do feel better now knowing that a lump is a good sign when it comes to head injuries, thanks wannabe-in-credit for that.

Will let you know how I get on, but am glad I am ending my awful year with this and not starting the new one in A&E (hopefully)
  • Hello everyone
