Lovely to have our thread back again :T

Not a bad day for me, though like spud I did munch a packet of doritos after finding our thread had gone awol. Ordered the Ian Marber book from the library, which should arrive in a couple of days so looking forward to that. Still not done any exercise so must make more effort. Haven't felt that hungary which is surprising as usually the first few days are the worst I find.

Well done on the New thread!

I had a very good day, I stuck within my syn count (doing Slimming World) although I didn't do any excerise as I have done something to my knee (What I have no idea!) which means I wont be going to my dance class tonight

But I had a good Debt day yesterday to, I didn't spend anything and ended up in profit as I sold something on Amazon!

    Keep up the good work

hi newbie to this thread, but keen to join in please!

I've put loads of weight on i've put on since having my third baby. i have three kids (oldest is only 4!) so hard to get out & about unless its on the cheap! She's 6 months now as i'm breastfeeding, i am trying to be really sensible about trying to get the weight off. Small steps will get me there hopefully!

    My DFW/FFW steps so far...

picked up the "Get active" pack from Tesco (initially just for the vouchers!!) but am using this since monday for motivation / record keeping.

Went to aerobics class (with reduced price creche for my kids)

Used Boots free weight loss pack to get my BMI & Weight check - nearly fainted when i saw that i am 13st 4lb and should be 10stone ish

Me & kids will be walking at least 2 days a week to my son's nursery (about 25min walk each way) thus saving petrol, environment and getting active

Taking kids for 20 min walk today to post office & bank - instead of local papershop for a stamp and driving to the bank later

I know i need a lot of motivation as i get bored easily and will go back to the biccies. Any support & advice - which i already can see is something you guys are brill at - will be really appreciated! many thanks and here's to our journey together! xx

morning dfw's and ffw's, mind if I gatecrash your party?

at my last weigh in (1st april) I was back to 11st after getting down to 10st 6. was totally gutted but done nothing much about it, am too busy with college work etc, but once thats done in mid may I'm going back to the gym with a vengence!

totally agree with the dfw food budgetting and diet not going well together. I was doing really well financially with food but was told I wasn't eating enough to help with weight loss, I was losing muscle mass due to not getting enough food and my body was in starvation mode....I did eat three meals a day

sammy, my gym membership was the thing that most wrenched my heart to give up....so I got a job there and get it for free :D

So glad this thread is back, totally lost my way on merged one - far too big to be useful.
Please, advice! I have proplapsed disc so exercise I'd normally do (aerobic videos, brisk walking, etc.) is not feasible yet. How can I stop the pounds piling on other than starvation (not an option at all!) Mut be something I can do???? Come on, you all have a wealth of knowledge between you - share a bit with me. pretty please?????
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
  • If anyone does run the marathon can I be the official DFW nipple anti-chaffer?

I'll even pay for the vaseline. :)

    tempting offer SS ;)

but you know you'll need a very big tub don't you?

how about swimming? or water aerobics?
  • Wow, thanks for that...

I don't even own any joggers and I refuse to go jogging in my shorts. I was going to take a trip to Primark for some cheapies if they do them. I've also been recommended to get a sports bra. Am going to scour TKmaxx first to see if they do those.

The more I look into it though, the more I'm being put off. Its hubby that wants to do the marathon (he finds the bike ride to easy). But running around the streets is easier and less dangerous (in terms of getting run over) than cycling.

A friend of mine told me to do the race for life, but I'm put off by the fees...£10 to join. I know it's not much, but 2 pairs of trainers, 1 pair of joggers, a bra and £10 to sign up and then more money to sign up for other runs...these days I see £10 as being half a weeks food. Hence why I was going for a bigger challenge...is a half marathon in one year feasible?

    I'm based in Surrey btw.

    Hiya

I'm sure primark do jogging bottoms for about £4 i think. Yes the RFLs are £10to enter which is a lot considering short distance. They are well organssed though. Other local events are usually similar priced except for the 'big' ones - great north run, flora marathon etc whch can be a lot more. There are tons of cheaper events though - again, have a look at the runners world website where you can search events based on local area and distance.

Half marathon in a year is certainly very possible. Depends on your current fitness - if its not bad then even one for sept/oct time wouldnt be too extreme. And yes a sports bra is essential - depends on your size but i got mine from M&S for £9 (half price, £18 full price)

Please don't be put off - any old trainers will do to start with, you'll feel the benifit more of a new pair in a few weeks anyway.

    Good luck :D
