    Debt-free and Proud!
SPLASH!bubbleubbleubble... That's me taking the plunge. I've dipped in and out of here a few times and thought oo just what I need. Then, I've thought "!!!!!! you are an adult who knows the Equation - too much energy in + no exercise = f*t b******!! Give your head a shake and deal with it!" That has been a recurring theme for the past year and so, with nothing to lose (well, loads actually!), I have returned - can i join in please?? :o

Actually I had a dfw epiphany this week when walked into Rosemary Conley clutching a £10 FREE MEMBERSHIP voucher and thinking it's fate! I even got thru the door and whilst waiting for previous class to finish, I read the price list - £5.25  to be weighed / ritually humiliated then make the usual excuses like "It's that time of the month!" "What? 3 weeks out of 4?" being the stern reply...Then I get to play sardines with 60 others in a tiny hall. Id get more exercise pushing my trolley round the sweety aisle at Tesco. That's my excuse...The upshot being I didnt fill in the DD form! I did not sign up! I saved money! I did not dust off one of the dusty aerobics dvds on my shelf!

Anyway, I appear to be babbling (low-fat wine always gets me like this!) so I'll shut up now...
First an appeal to livinginhope - for she has inspired me to post tonight. As I've looked in , I have noticed your weight loss increasing. Today you are at 47 lbs in how many weeks??? :T Please let me know how you've done it?!?
I promise to keep it short in future...:o
    Good luck all

Hi music, nice to see I can inspire someone ;) :rotfl:
I have lost the weight with weightwatchers,I know it costs £4.95/week,but I make sure I get my money's worth,I stay for every meeting and ask loads of questions, since starting WW our shopping budget has been reduced and the whole family have benefitted, they haven't lost weight, they don't need to,but we are all eating much more healthily and snacking on better things :D
We have also joined our local health club,my mother pays for a family membership for us,so she can have a gym buddy ;) we use the pool, gym, sauna, steam room, jaquzzi and I go to 5 exercise classes a week,I think this has helped with the weight loss too as it keeps me so busy,I don't have time to pick at the wrong foods
I don't think you need to pay for a slimming club if you think you can do it alone, but the reality of being weighed by someone else every week,is enough to keep me on track,if I did it alone,in the back of my head,I would be thinking,oh well,I'll not worry this week and get back on track next week, then I wouldn't lose anything.
Good luck with taking the plunge, keep us posted with your fat free journey :D

I'm know what you mean about being weighed in. I'm going to slimming world which is £4.50 a week. I feel really guilty spending the money but Ive lost 12.5 lbs in 5 weeks and its cheaper than liposuction
I admire those that can do it on their own but I know I can't

  • Thanks for the replies. I know what you both mean about having someone else around to help keep you on track. I did actually join R.C. about 18 months ago and went for 9 months and lost nada BUT that was because I wasn;t really doing it (understatement!) - the exercise was great but as soon as i stepped outside i never gave it another thought til the next session - no diet / exercise. My kids were next door doing karate anyway so I didnt really see it as making an effort to get there...Eventually, I realised that I was just wasting my money. I think I'll start off on my own and keep logging on here. I'll put my 'fees' in an unused savings account and treat myself with paying it off a debt every month! :rotfl:Big birthday in December so there's my incentive! So many of you seem to be doing so well - motivation's GOT to rub off, right?
