Unattended young kids in car - would you have done anything?

Our neighbour's car spontaneously caught fire less than two weeks ago. It certainly happens.
The car was empty in this case fortunately, but it doesn't take long at all for a fire to take hold.0 -
I was in the same position about a year ago when I parked next to a car with 3 small children in sainsbury car park - I looked around and couldn't see anyone walking to or away from the car. I stood for about a minute or 2 before I decided it wasn't my business (I don't have children so I don't know what is routine practice) and just went about my shopping
I did think about it afterwards though, and wondered whether I'd done the right thing.
Slightly off topic, I used to waitress in a pub on a busy main road years ago and parents would often let their children run about the place without keeping an eye on them, and quite often the kids would at least try to go out the door (little ones found the door too heavy but nothing to stop someone holding it open for them). They'd quite often suddenly stand up and start looking for their child. Personally I thought that this was quite careless, but so many of them did it, so obviously many people think that this is okay.
Each to their own I guess, but I don't think I'd want to leave children in public on their own - there are some nasty sick people out there
Not everything that happens gets reported in the news - they choose the stories they think are sexy and will sell. The lack of a news story of something happening does not prove the lack of it happening at allFinal cigarette smoked 02/01/18

I do occasionally leave DD (2) in the car while I pop to the cashpoint or into the local shop, but only if she is asleep and only if I can park right next to the cashpoint or outside the shop. I don't take my eyes off the car for more than a second or 2, and am never more than 10 feet away.
If I can't see the car from the shop, then she comes with me - its not easy shopping with 2 stone of sleeping toddler on your shoulder though so it has to be for something I really really want, lol.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

There is no evidence to suggest that there are more child abductions or abuse by strangers than there ever have been at any other time. I'm fact I believe the number of cases are reducing.
That said, I was at a softplay a couple of weeks ago and a mother had left her 2 sons alone in there for over 1.5 hours without anybody knowing. They were 4 and 2!! How on earth she could have thought that was in any way okay is beyond me (and it obviously wasn't the first time either.)Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Again, where is the evidence of this?

Nit calling you for it as its easy to understand how it can be hard to get them in and out all the time, but if you go into a shop how do you keep an eye on them frOm the window. Ate you not going into shop or do you just walk up to the counter and ask for something wo

One of our first cars did this it was old and a hot day and we had been out locked up the car when it happened. Scrapped the car, I have the car in the driveway now, was in an outside car park then. I still pop my head out the door when passing the hall way to make sure the cars okay.Needing to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. You provided a link from an Indian news site, a very sad story, but have you seen the kip of a lot of cars over there? It's like comparing apples and oranges.
My dad is a mechanic with nearly 50 years experience, I'll have to ask him about what he knows about incidences over here, he's a massive car geek. So if anyone will know it'll be him
I was a kid in the 70's and don't know of anyone who was kidnapped or died while being left in a car for a bit. I reckon dogs are the ones most at risk.
