Bunny Boiler Buyer?

I'd be very careful about what you decided to do about the car insurance letter. What they did was wrong but it is also illegal to open other people's mail!0

You could do, temporarily, what members of my family have done when there is a hostile something-or-other going on, such as boyfriends getting the elbow etc.
Members of the family call the number, let it ring three times, hang up and then immediately call again. It seems to work and is an effective way to screen incoming calls so that, pretty much 100%, you accept only those callers whose identity is known and welcome to you.0 -

I really cannot see anyone taking action against an elderly lady who didn't examine her mail closely enough to notice that there was something there that nobody in their right mind would have expected to find. Especially the Bunny Boiler, since she seems to be perpetrating some sort of fraud against her insurance company.0 -

Would you be so blase about forgetting the insurance matter if they crashed into your car, and you then discovered they were uninsured after providing false information?
there are enough uninsured drivers without letting anymore get away with it.Some people are like a slinky. Not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.0 -

A quick update...
Yesterday Mum heard she'll be exchanging Contracts on 8 June - someone further behind her in the chain can't make it until then.
And the Bunny Boiler has stopped the daily phone calls.
However, I've just had my Mum on the phone. In todays post there are two letters addressed to Mrs BB. She hasn't opened them, but one is apparently from BT with 'Important Documents' written across it. I've no idea who the other is from.
Any input, anyone?0 -
Important documents letters from BT is the start of the service documents.
Send them back RTS and call BT & say not known at this address. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
The lack of manners is the bit that would initially get to me. If the woman felt so free to ring the number on a daily basis, why didn't she have the manners to ask if it was OK to have mail sent there? I wouldn't be too chuffed about having someone else's mail coming to my address either in these circumstances, especially if contracts haven't even been exchanged yet. No matter what they think, it's not their home until they have been, & showing some courtesy (given the potential for rotting fish, last lightbulb being taken etc) wouldn't hurt them. When I arranged building insurance last week (did it online) it said it had sent the policy documents to the new address.. I rang the company and they said it does that automatically. I had to get the insurance in advance to satisfy the lender so had no choice. I rang the Estate Agent to inform the vendor that there would be a letter addressed to me, they were fine about it. Your bunny boiler woman sounds v. cheeky/ignorant and selfish to me.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Lynzpower is right.
You need to urgently get in touch with BT and any other utility company who sends letters in the buyers name, and make sure the buyers don't take on the bills until they move in.
It can cause lots of hassle for your mum in the future if the buyers give the wrong dates.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
