Bunny Boiler Buyer?

Your mum is paying the EA an extremely large sum of money to handle the sale for her, ring him and tell him to stop the harassment immediately. If the phone calls continue after that investigate having them blocked by the phone company.
The upheaval of moving is bad enough when you're no longer a spring chicken without having to deal with the Munsters.
Re the insurance letter. Your mum could write to the ins. co explaining she'd opened it in error, apologise for this - because she's a courteous lady - and advise that the addressee does not live at her address......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I think you are over reacting. Get the EA to tell them to back off, in fact tell your EA that its putting tomuch strain on your mum and she is feeling pressured so "may" consider withdrawing from the sale if the constant calls to her continue. The EA will see his comission dissapear so will make sur ethey stop calling your Mum.
Re the insurance - No big deal, I expect that they renewed their insurance and thought they would put the new address on thinking they would be there in time. If its an issue for you return it not known at this address.0 -
Block the number, inform the EA that the buyer is hassling you, and get the EA to tell them that all corrrespondance should go through the EA or the sol.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

...I'd report the car stolen from your address, just for fun
....of course I wouldn't really as it will cause more hassles. I think it's bang out of order though. Any policies and couments can be changed when they move in. They should not be messing you's around. Hope your mum doesn't stress out too much, she doesn't deserve the hassle.

Oh god there really is nothing worse than this.
Personally, I cant believe they would phone. But at he end of the day i AGREE the ea needs to be getting them in line and pronto- DONT FORGET THEY WORK FOR YOU not your buyers.
i was absoolutely furious when I recieved mail addressed to not the person buying my place- his sister- or whatever ( my buyers was just dodgy) and even though it a bit "molehill" I felt threatened in a way, and undermined. HOW DARE THEY?
Im a bit vicious at times, and Id be inclined to ask the EA if he thinks they are compus metus enough to sign contracts, they clearly are insane- it is harrassment. If any company called you daily- youd have recourse. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks everyone for reading this thread - and for the input.
I shall tell my Mum I intend to get Bunny Boiler's phone no. blocked.
At 74 she's no spring chicken to be moving house, but needs must. She, well we, just didn't count on the extra grief BB 's trying to add.0 -

I know what you mean. We are hoping to complete next week and couldn't believe it last week when a letter from BT dropped through the door saying that an order had been placed on our line and they were sorry they were losing us to another phone company!?!?! Hubby immediately called them to say they aren't losing us to another company, we intend to stay with them when we move. The guy wouldn't tell hubby who had placed the order but we are pretty sure it was our buyers. We haven't even exchanged with them yet!! He (guy at BT) said it was a rogue company that did it, whatever that meansAnyway, the guy cancelled the order and asked hubby if he wanted to make a complaint. Too right he did!! Said it was out of order that ANYONE, rogue company or not, could place an order on someone elses line without checks being made.

to be honest blocking their number isn't going to do anything.
all they'll do is ring from numerous other phones, work, mobile, payphone, etc.
personally, just don't answer any phone calls and get your mum to do the old 1471 and if anyone she knows, she can call them back, if caller display is not an option.
but just be firm with them, if they wanna play games and screw you around, screw them back twice as bad, remember they're desperate it seems to get in ASAP.
as said tell the agent, if you receive one more call from them to your mum's house you'll be instructing the agent or another agent to start marketing again, think that will defo do the trick, if the EA thinks his commission is not just being delayed but could be going to another firm! lol0 -
Are you certain the insurance document wasn't just a quote for their car insurance for when they move?
I know buildings insurance is different, but on exchange the purchaser must insure the property they're buying. That's exactly what I did - but the insurance company sent the policy to me - at the new address.
I'd block their number too - although I suppose they may have a mobile or a work no, so it may not work. I think the suggestion of speaking to the EA is a good one, and also let your solicitor know - he/she can contact the other solicitor and ask them to rein in their client.
It's never worth giving your phone number to a purchaser, kids!0 -
The insurance is fraud. Insurance companies are some of the only companies who specifically try to ensure that your policy papers and related documents are sent out to arrive after you have moved.
Telephone companies are annoying including BT. You give them the exact date you are going to move and they ensure things are done 10 days early. I think they do this so you can't pull out of the agreement.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
