just an fyi but nowadays you can port your landline number basicly moving it from your old house to the new one, if the sellers chose to take thier number fair enough otherwise it just gets put back into a pool likely for about 10 years and you dont need to deal with anybodys old calls.
my folks got calls 15 years after they moved in for the old owners, i personaly couldnt be botherd with it.
In theory its that easy to take your phone no with you but in practice it isn't. We are moving about 8 miles and still within the same dialling code area but we can't take our current phone no with us as the 2 areas are on different exchanges apparently. Right pain in the

Remember to plant some rotting fish under the floor boards before you complete ! Revenge is a dish best served cold !0

You can only port your number if you're moving within the same exchange.
As for post, I've had letters arrive for 'the new people' prior to completion - it's all part of the house moving experience. I suspect the OP wouldn't have thought it such a cheek if they had been nice people
I agree with whoever said to cancel BT and get a cheap pay as you go mobile, it may well stop the harassment. You can get cheap simcards from Ebay - or even free from companies like 02, although companies take longer to send them out. You're virtually guaranteed to receive them within a couple of days from Ebay.
Otherwise, tell the purchaser to cease calling the telephone number from now on, if they argue, tell them you'll have to get the police involved if they carry on harassing an elderly lady. It's really not on - I'd report them in a blink if it was happening to my mum.0 -
alternatively, place a whistle by the phone.
phone rings > answer phone > it's the buyers > pick up whistle > blow as hard as you can until they hang up

We realise that now.

Prior to completion is fine, our buyers are being a bit premature seeing as at the moment they don't even have their mortgage offer!

Well, so long as you've accepted their offer and taken it off the market, Shelly

My workmate had this problem with a house she was buying. Only thing was the previous owner had changed all the bills to my mate. When she finally moved in months and months after she should have done - she had the headache of telling the council, electric etc etc she had only just moved in. It was a real headache for her.

Yes. Yesterday, I took Mum into the Estate Agents and explained to them about the daily phone calls, and about the car insurance to which they pulled out the file on Mums house.
The latest update on the file stated that the Bunny B had only received their Mortgage Offer on 17/4/07 - which incidentally is the same date on that insurance letter from The Post Office which stated that BB's insured vehicle was being kept overnight on my Mum's drive!
The Estate Agents assured my Mum the behaviour of BB was totally unacceptable, and that she appreciated my Mum is 74 and agreed that the phonecalls amounted to no less than a form of bullying. She was going to phone Mrs BB to inform that the calls direct to my Mum are to stop, and that all future conversations must be with them, or her own Solicitor.
My Mum, meanwhile, has taken to letting her phone ring and then calling the caller back if she recognises the number.0 -
