[/B]kerri what setting do you use? I made spelt bread in my Kenwood once, it worked out OK, but you need to the use a rapid setting - 1hr is enough. Also try comparing it with other recipes out there - I got mine from a quick oogle search.
J-m I know the sort of roads you mean, I'll keep my fingers crossed I don't have any site visits out there when it snows....
Just got off the phone from a friend who went all doom and gloom that this is only the tip of the fiscal iceberg. As much as I think they're paranoid, they've got me all nervous trying to think what 'real-world' skills I have to use for bartering when money no longer works  I think I'm going to have funny dreams tonight, and sign up for a dress-making course in the morning...0 -

We're using the spelt loaf setting on the breadmaker, maybe I'll try the rapid setting although never thought to use that. Ours is the 4hr 30min setting, which probably means it rises then falls flat on its face!!!
Just been to do the weekly shop and came away £38.60 lighter. I bought 6 packs of butter, and some festive kitchen roll (well who cares if it has snowflakes on its snowing outside anyway!!!), tinned toms as they were on offer for cheaper than last week!! Feeling quite pleased as I actually came away with more than I did last week when we spent moreDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Oh, that's odd! I my recipe book had a little bit for trouble shooting at the back, but I don't have it to check now. If you're not leaving out any ingredients, sometimes something simple, like you opened the bread maker and let the heat out, or knocked/moved it can make the bread collapse. Mine collapsed once because I slid it out of the way on the counter.0 -

I'm a right idiot
I took the figure from the wrong box on my spreadsheet for DFBXmas last year and the figure I gave for this year was what I'd actually paid last year and not what I still had left. I've now amended my sig accordingly. I kept thinking that's never right
Spagbol apologies, could you amend my figure owing to £2972.15 please?
On a positive note I have paid £100 of it off today so I'm off the starting blocks and my progress stands at:
<insert drumroll & cymbals here>£100 / £2972.15
I've also been putting a bit away towards my insurance deposit for the car and MOT which all happens Feb/March and I got an email yesterday afternoon to say I got one of the 2013 free annual Gourmet Society memberships from the MSE newsletter the other week which should be £69.95 :j0 -
Does anyone with a P4nasonic breadmaker know what on earth we are doing wrong with our bread? Everytime we go to make spelt bread the top of the load looks like it's collapsed in on itself
I feel like we're getting nowhere fast, that's 3 loaves now. I even tried using warm water today to try to make it better. We're using the whole spelt recipe the machine came with
Hi Kerri I've just had a quick look at the Troubleshooting section of the manual online here:
http://tda.panasonic-europe-service.com/docs/2z50f5513cz3z2e6c4z656ez706466z21z2c2393eb8db93b71054e8f78206df7c3c6d8b335/pgrp005/pcat003/sd256wxc/848916/dz50e160_S.pdf
It suggests you try different flour or 10-20ml less water. Worth a try? I know if I use ordinary supermarket own brand bread flour it turns out lovely but when I tried posh stuff it wasn't as good. Maybe it's the same with spelt?

Hi all!
Feeling a bit deflated today - one of the cats was sick last night and I'm sure he threw up what looked like a roundworm:eek: tried to convince myself it was a piece of spaghetti:rotfl: but it's looking like it could be an expensive trip to the vets is on the horizon:(.I'm hoping they'll just let me buy some treatment without having to make an appointmet for the vet to see the cat.
No snow here, what tiny dusting we had yesterday morning was washed away by the sleet and rain we had.
ETA: just reserved some spot-on for the cats from local pet store for £16 for 4. If that doesn't work then I'll take him to the vets, panic over!0 -
