  • I decided to make another payment. I've been doing the 'no using unnecessary toiletries' challenge here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4365347

For every item I've used up since 15th October 2012 I have saved £2. As I've now challenged myself not to buy any toiletries for 100 days I've dipped in to my toiletries slush fund to make a payment off the credit card.

    I've therefore paid £149.20 which meas £932.50/£3730 - 25% cleared :j:j
  • Well today has been my first NSD in quite a while! Our poor little puddy tat has had "issues" around his tail since last October and after two courses of antibiotics and a good shaving, a large abscess turned up at the weekend and burst - not pretty! Thank god it was in the middle of the day, so we were able to get him into the vet sharpish and OH paid the excess and the pet insurance paid whatever was left - soooo glad we have that now!

Feeling really fed up at work still - only 18 days left at my current place and cannot wait to go! Being stressed makes me go shopping and eat rubbish though - not good on either count - BLEH!! Mega well dones to everyone paying off anything at the moment! :D

A potential bit of unexpected income this way comes :D I advertised my original wedding dress (long story!) this week and had heaps of interest in it which shocked me! It is brand new, unworn, designer, so that is probably why it has generated so much interest. Also, according to the lady who owns the shop I bought my actual wedding dress from, we are now in peak season for brides shopping for their dresses. Anyway, I digress. When I bought it it was ex-sample and so I got it for £180 delivered. I have got someone interested in buying it from me for £230 delivered, so have made a £50 profit, good times! She is also buying the hooped underskirt that the original seller sold to me for £30, I only paid £10 for it! All in all, I am pleased as I really thought I was going to make a loss on it and the underskirt, but have actually made a £70 profit! And another good sized chunk paid off Barclaycard, I am really pleased!

  • Oooh that's amazing new on your dress!! I ended up with 3 wedding dresses (don't ask!) none of them designer, but I really would quite like to get rid of the two I didn't end up using!

Glad it isn't just me who bought more than one dress! To be fair, I ditched the first dress because of it not getting a great reception when I showed it to a friend! Though it later turned out to be a misunderstanding ref her response, I had to ditch it as the seed of doubt had been planted. :(

I am glad the lady is buying it though, bless her, she is on a tight budget and is paying me in instalments to my paypal account, we are glad it is going to her as why shouldn't she have a gorgeous designer gown just because she doesn't have thousands to spend on her dress! :T

  • I have listed my crosstrainer on Fleabay for £15, but the auction ends Friday, and so far I have no bids. Should I drop the price, or hold out for someone to bid at the last minute?

I'm new to selling, have no idea what to do!

There are malign forces at work, I'm sure. It SHOULD be payday by now

You are SO not wrong. This month has lasted at least three months already. I've spent our food budget already, so goodness knows what we'll eat next week. :(

I would just wait because many people (including me) only bid at the last minute when they have a better idea of what the price is going to be. You can always relist it. Best offer also gives you an idea of what people are prepared to pay as long as you set a minimum for yourself (if that makes sense!).

  • Just made a £11.60 PAD and if I pay a minimum of £6.75 a day for the next 8 days I'm on track to pay off 5% this month!

My OH is expecting some invoices to be paid imminently (some long overdue) and he's promised to pay some of this towards the credit after setting money aside for tax. Fingers crossed!
