Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2013

Hi everyone
I have been struggling to get back to debt busting after Christmas but I came across this blog and I was totally inspired to crack on!
I have just made the carrot and kidney bean 14p soup and the tomato and cannelini bean one too. Now we have lunches for the rest of the week and I hardly spent any money. :j
Shame my Christmas overtime money will have to be used to pay off my over draught but at least I have that money coming in.0 -
grr men! when will i learn not to let dh shop on his own? went to buy miss lilys tv and i really wasnt feeling good, so left him to pay and the daft whatsit paid with the bank card instead of his credit card for the points! What a numpty!

Grrr, now I remember why I hate cheques! just had a look at the bank and there is a cheque payment of £135, so im sat there trying to figure out why the heck i'd write a cheque let alone one for that much money
Grab DH and hes helpfully saying 'but you do all your payments online or in cash at the bank' . . . umm I know this hence why I have no idea what this cheque payment is!! :rotfl:
20 very long minutes later he finally says 'was it the payment for the will?' and yes it was, the reason I hadnt realised what it was is that I gave them that cheque well before christmas! grr I hate the 'you can take up to 6 months to present a cheque' rule. If you get a cheque, blomin cash it so I can remember what the heck I paid for!
I always think they should put who the cheque was payable to on the line on your statement where it just says "cheque 1234567". It should say "cheque 1234567 - Mr Payee".
I don't write that many any more but usually try to remember to write on the stub. Invariably the one you have no idea what it is by the time it's cashed will be the one you didn't write on.
And in other news, payday tomorrow so I can replace that 0 with a larger figure :j0 -
Hi all!
Finally caught up with the thread. Payday on Thursday and there's still money left in hte bank, oh yes indeedy! This must be the first month in YEARS I've not spent the last few days before a payday checking my account from behind a cushion wondering whether I'll slip into the overdraft due to one of my wandering DDs or a payment that I think has gone out that actually hasn't0 -
What is this white stuff outside the window?? I live in Cambridge! We don't do snow! The kids are currently both sat downstairs dragging their feet in the hope the words 'schools are closed' are uttered by me in the next 40 minutes. With only 3 school closures so far ( and one of those is a nursery!) their chances are slim I feel
Scuppered our tv hunting plans though  darn you weather!
I know! We're not that far from you really and I've just been sent home from work because of the snow. Not that I'm complaining of course!Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -
I moved to Wales expecting snow, we have none
I am jealous!!!!

Hiya, if you wouldn't mind giving me your updates in this format:
#002 £10 / £1000
It is easy for me to update...it is more tricky if people tell me their payments and I have to try and add it to the previous total...thank youBlackberrycurved if you click either the Post Reply blue button above the Quick Reply box or the Go Advanced button below it, you can then change the size of the text.
Ooops! So far only managed to put three things on ebay - maybe I'll be able to do more once the kids go to bed. And I've gone £5.04 over the shopping budget this week, but have all the meat (apart from next weeks roast) until we get paid, so hopefully should be a cheap shop next week
Hubby has just told me that he made a payment the other day, so I've got an update.
#027 £427.54/£6,000.00 (7.13%)
You are doing so well :Tarmchairexpert wrote: »Grrr, grrrr, DH's old job promised they'd pay him by the 10th, and yet nothing. I know it'll be paid eventually, but we spent that money over Christmas because we were assured we'd get it back (and we had a lot of very unavoidable expenses, because DH's Dad died suddenly overseas so there were overseas flights and passport fees and things to deal with) and now it's another fortnight to wait. We were doing so well, and it's hard not to feel depressed when I see the numbers back to where they were last September.
Anyway. Enough self-pity! Managed to scrape up a few dollars to make myself feel like we're heading in the right direction. So:
#119 $656.34/$8,000.

I'm not that far from you either! But was surprised to see people actually coping all right (I heard such horror stories about snowy roads down here!). Didn't get sent home like recurrent ostrich though
hismissus that's excellent about the bank balance - I can never seem to shake that fear though, even if I know I have £250 in the account, I'll still be nervous about going overdrawn by the 20th!0 -
Ah nice, my AA membership was due for renewal, and went up to nearly £50 :O I found another company offering £35 cover for the exact same thing, with £5 cashback. Called the AA to leave, they offered me £32, so I decided to stick. It cost £2 more, but then I don't have to wait for cashback.0
