Ooops! So far only managed to put three things on ebay - maybe I'll be able to do more once the kids go to bed. And I've gone £5.04 over the shopping budget this week, but have all the meat (apart from next weeks roast) until we get paid, so hopefully should be a cheap shop next week :D

Hubby has just told me that he made a payment the other day, so I've got an update.

Grr DH's!!! WHY does he wait until 3 days before youngests birthday to inform me that actually hes not happy to give her our old tv (with the slightly dodgy buttons, so it very occasionally changes the channel when you press the volume button) as part of her present and really wants to buy her a new one and keep the old one in our room

I have absolutely no problem buying her a tv as I wasnt aware that the button issue was as bad as it is, but actually telling me in advance would make life sooooo much easier!!

So now the mad internet search for a tv to go buy tomorrow, have settled on a £128 from tesc0 which I will be ordering tonight, well I suppose at least this way I can pick up a birthday cake for her at the same time :o

  • Grrr, grrrr, DH's old job promised they'd pay him by the 10th, and yet nothing. I know it'll be paid eventually, but we spent that money over Christmas because we were assured we'd get it back (and we had a lot of very unavoidable expenses, because DH's Dad died suddenly overseas so there were overseas flights and passport fees and things to deal with) and now it's another fortnight to wait. We were doing so well, and it's hard not to feel depressed when I see the numbers back to where they were last September.

Anyway. Enough self-pity! Managed to scrape up a few dollars to make myself feel like we're heading in the right direction. So:

  • I have had a very productive day today, I've filled a box with things to sell on fleabay, and will make a start on in the next week. If I can sell anything this month, I will put it towards the debts, anything next month is towards a holiday!

I had to send off for some postal bags, and some scales though, because I have nothing suitable in the house. But I will aim to make the money back through sales.

Also finally got round to buying a bin today. I've only lived here 15 months :rotfl:

    Hi

Another BIN item sold on ebay today so I have paid £19.03 off of credit card.

    Total now £1000.06/£10,224 = 9.78% for #11

I could get addicted to ebay and start selling thigs I need. Is "I have sold all my shoes on ebay" a good enough reason for not going to work??

What is this white stuff outside the window?? I live in Cambridge! We don't do snow! The kids are currently both sat downstairs dragging their feet in the hope the words 'schools are closed' are uttered by me in the next 40 minutes. With only 3 school closures so far ( and one of those is a nursery!) their chances are slim I feel ;)

Scuppered our tv hunting plans though  darn you weather!

  • doing well with all my challenges and have saved quite a bit this month from not spending on unnecessary things. not really paid any more of any debt except that part of ours is the overdraft so by leaving the money in the bank we are paying some back. will wait until the end of month before paying as much as poss of credit card.
You can if you think you can .

    Hi everyone :)

Thought I'd post a wee update from me, have been reading this thread on my phone every day (it moves soooo fast!) but not posted much. We are hoping to pay off more next week if we have some pennies left! Hoping to pay off an extra £200 to get under that £15k, will just need to be very careful for this week (although we are off work on holiday when we always seem to spend more!) We both get paid on the 26th and there will be some bank holiday premiums in there so looking forward to that :)

    Our update.....

    #104 £1772.81/£16971.38 10.45%

Really pleased to get above 10% :j Our challenge this month has been to not overspend on food and entertainment. Have done really well so far and am proud of the changes we have made :) Need to set ourselves a challenge for NSD's though, think that would boost us further!

We are in the process of looking into moving and have an appointment with the bank tomorrow to see about mortgage and what we can afford. Need to take lots of info to them so going to get that together today. Started looking at places to move to and going to see a couple to get some ideas.

Does anybody have any tips for selling a house? This was my first home so have never sold anywhere before and would be grateful for any insight from those that have!

Hope everybody has a wonderful money saving week :D
