no idea  he's gonna ring up and sort it out on friday!
not a good start!!!!0 -
and here was me thinking january would be a good month.
oh has just had a letter from hmrc to say he owes them money in unpaid tax. it also says he claimed £3k in JSA in the last tax year, but he wasn't on JSA. :-/ hopefully it'll be sorted out with a simple phone call but a bit worried - what if someone has used his NI number to claim it ??
Your OH isn't a civil servant by any chance is he? The CSSC (I think) lost all our details a few years ago and only came clean about it a few months ago. The letter said that they didn't know until loads of dodgy claims for tax credits and benefits were made by civil servants.
Hope you get it sorted out xSPC9 #125 - £816.85

Hi all
I'm sorry but I just have to rant a bit if that's OK and I know you lovely people won't mind.
So I moved into a new place this week. It's an existing house share (friend of a friend). I asked the friend whether there would be any agency fees but was told there wouldn't be, (think she was just desperate to have me move in as their flat mate wanted to move out and she needed to fill the room) well more fool me for not checking as I've just had to fork out £300 :eek::eek: for adding my name to the contract and referencing. I wouldn't mind paying a fair admin fee but really, this practice of London letting agencies charging huge disproportionate fees is tantamount to EXTORTION. They have built up monopolies that mean you have no choice but to use them if you want to find a property and then they've got you over a barrell. I am absolutely fuming as this has set me back in this challenge GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Shrewbie,
Rant away to your heart's content. Hope it makes you feel better
I'm not in the UK and I've never dealt with letting agencies, but if the 300.00 seems extortionate is there an ombudsman that you can make enquiries with to see whether it's an acceptable amount.
It brings to mind when Visa started hijacking their interest rates and people didn't realise they had the right to refuse the increase. Some companies just try to get away with stuff
I feel for you for the 300.00 set back for the month but try not to get too demoralised, at least it's happened at the beginning of the year and you've still got 11 months to rectify it.0 -
Shrewbie, that's the cost of renting I'm afraid
we moved and had to pay between £300-£400 for nothing I was really cross so I'm determined this will be our last rental now (even if the rent is high it's a lovely place and will make do until we have a deposit as we can scrimp on the chocolate, but a decent living area brings a smile).
I've just done yoga and considering in October I couldn't touch my toes, I can now get my hands flat on the floor!!! I didn't think I'd see the day
Hurray for all the fitness bods doing fitness, even if it's just walking the kids to schoolnight night everybody x

No it's probably quite old now! It has 3 30-minute workouts...Pump (the one I did- kills your legs!), a cardio one and a stretchy one. My favourite of all time is the Beverley Callard (Liz from Corrie!) rapid results DVD, it is a bit early-90s now but a v good workout and I always get good results from itMust get some more up-to-date Davina ones I do like her and shorter bursts are better for me (the BC one is an hour).
