For books try amazon or there's a website called Zapper, it's like music magpie but you can do books too! You don't get much for each book but the odd one they give you loads and for the convenience of them coming to collect the big box load I think it's worth it!

Congrats on the star SpagBol :)

Today I'm starting FlyLady for cleaning up the house, day 1 is scrubbing the kitchen sink until it shines....should be fairly easy I reckon :D I hate cleaning the house and I have lots of what she calls "hot spots".

I'm also going to try fleabaying 100 items in a month, I think I'll try 3 items a day via my phone and see where that gets me. It's the postage I get stuck on, sometimes I've sold things and the postage has meant it's cost me to give these things to people!!! Naughty naughty!

I've lost 5lb this week!! Blimey!

Just going to load a few bits on ebay...I have 4 non-working days a week so if I put on 10 items a non-working day I should fit it in this month :T

I also have a bit of hourly-paid freelance work so best get on with that.

I've lost 5lbs, too! So happy (though I started at about 2st higher than the last time I started :o)

    When's your birthday? Mine's the 15th and its #30 :p

Also, congrats on your lovely shiny new star :staradmin. Can't wait to get mine. Will have to get posting!!

    Morning all!

Hubby has finally seen the light, oh yes! He finally gets it, he actually understands that my target to be debt free AND pay off the hol by June is not only possible but virtually certain. I've finally got him on side and to my way of thinking, so pleased! :) Showed him the figures and after a bit of pensive cog-whirring he said, "We'll be loaded by Christmas at this rate!" Not sure we'll be loaded but at least he realises now how much money is actually spare at the end of the month IF we spend/live wisely - YIPPEE!

Fantastic! I think its one of the hardest things in life to achieve - both of you agreeing when money is concerned!

I've had some good news today, went into town to pay in the cheque from npower, only £17.05. While I was there I popped in nationwide as I apparently had a dormant account there - and found I've got about £6 in the account and then when I got home I'd received a letter from egg regarding my PPI claim - they've only gone and upheld my complaint :j - £655 is due my way :j:j:j

Hubby has just informed me he's cancelled Sky movies & sports (yes SPORTS!!!!!) saving almost £30 a month. He really is on board.

Sorry Spagbol, wish I could help you out with your hubby. I think it was because we were discussing it in a restaurant so there was no tv footy, fifa, facebook, twitter or cats to distract him. Just me and him, face to face, so he was truly focussed on what I was saying (I think:D) I made the number crunching really simple for him to understand too - "I earn £x, my dds are £y, if we spend £z each week that leaves me with £700 :D:eek::D (Hubby pays all the house related bills and mortagage, I pay for food/entertainment etc.) And he said "£z is a lot per week" and I replied "I know so whatever is left from £z each week is going into an emergency savings pot" To which he exclaimed "So if we spend less than £z each week, we'll have even more money left over for stuff. So when all the debt is paid off we'll be loaded!" "No dear, when all the debt is paid off we'll be able to start working on doing up the house" "Yeah, but we'll still be loaded" I think he considers not being in debt as being loaded :rotfl:

    Hi all

I'm sorry but I just have to rant a bit if that's OK and I know you lovely people won't mind.

So I moved into a new place this week. It's an existing house share (friend of a friend). I asked the friend whether there would be any agency fees but was told there wouldn't be, (think she was just desperate to have me move in as their flat mate wanted to move out and she needed to fill the room) well more fool me for not checking as I've just had to fork out £300 :eek::eek: for adding my name to the contract and referencing. I wouldn't mind paying a fair admin fee but really, this practice of London letting agencies charging huge disproportionate fees is tantamount to EXTORTION. They have built up monopolies that mean you have no choice but to use them if you want to find a property and then they've got you over a barrell. I am absolutely fuming as this has set me back in this challenge GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on top of the moon right now. I've just come back from seeing Les Mis for free :money: took apple pieces with me :money: and some crisps in a pot:money: got put on the naughty list for not having the newspaper with us, told we might not get in, then had to queue not knowing if we'd get in, then told we could, then told there might not be enough seats left, then made to wait for a few minutes, then were the last of 10 allowed in!!! :T:T:T There were tears, there was laughter, I've fallen in love with freckles again, and my oh my Hugh Jackman is lovely! even if we were in the 3rd row from the front! You could see the continuity between Anne Hathaways pimples and blackheads we were that close!

    Oh and it's a NSD! Hurray :T:T:T

I don't know if anyone has ever had anxiety bought on by insomnia before but it has absolutely killed me the last month. :(

I have been emotional, had no appetite, irritable you name it but I think it's getting better now thank god. Has anyone ever suffered this before?

The only benefit is i've lost half a stone! :rotfl:

I think to make myself feel better i will make my first payment of the year:
