I'm thinking the same thing. I have an annual part time teaching contract where 2/3 of my hours are worked by end of Jan. From Feb I have 3 free days a week and during school hols I am free all week (kids now late teens) so I wondered whether to find extra work to shift debt quicker and then save a contingency. I know what you mean about tax but what I would get net pay is still more than I have now!! I did think of temping (I teaching accounting) but that may only be feasable in the summer.

I suppose you have to decide how much your time is worth to you :)

You could always do something like private tutoring, too? :)

I'm just not sure what I could do!

Hi fennmad I have had the house for quite some time now (embarrassingly). I had initial council tax relief for 12 months can I get another one??
Moving into my house will be the biggest saving as I am currently paying all the bills as well as £200 board. Plus when I phoned the council I they said I have to pay the full amount of council tax despite the fact when I move in I will be able to get single person occupancy go figure??? I have set a goal for moving in by march regardless of the state of the house so will have a bit of cash boost to go towards paying the debts off!!

Hi, oh I think that's the max you can do then. I hated paying it when we wasn't living there. It's bad that they are charging you different to what you will be once you move in. At least you hope to be in soon. X

I've tried bar work before and I was awful at it! But then again, I have severe hearing problems so that's probably to be expected :p

    Hi All

Not posted much in the new thread yet. I have been reading tho. :A

Please could you adjust my total to £7172 :( I'm including ALL my creditors so I can start blasting it when it comes to payday!

    Ta xx
    In debt no more!
  • Just a quick question - how do you work out/record how much you've paid off your total when surely the total keeps changing each month due to interest being charged monthly etc?

Everyone does this differently so whatever works for you. Some calculate it before the year and add it to the total, some are just 0% debt only, I [STRIKE]cheat a bit and[/STRIKE] just ignore the interest until the end of the year and add up my payments. So for example last year I paid over £17k to the debts but with interest and fees etc I had only paid off £14k by the end of December. It worked for me but I have a spreadsheet I use every day for our debts with the correct amount left owing which I update when interest is added. All my debt is now CC so I don't have the interest from OD and all CCs are low or 0% interest this year.

For me it's a bit like a net and gross thing, on this thread I record my gross debt payments and on my home spreadsheet I have the net values.

Just for those who were interested - I started the clear out this afternoon and I have already earmarked 57 items to go:eek::eek::eek:

This includes 12 tops, 7 scarves and 8 necklaces. Only cheap stuff, I just can never bear to throw stuff out. I think its not interesting enough for Fleabay, any ideas anyone? I was thinking it would just have to be charity shops

Is it all in good nick? If it is I'd go to a local Facebok selling group and sell it as a job lot for a tenner or whatever.
