    Hello Parsnip,

I read your post and looked too. Well done so many of you! I have failed rather spectacularly. But will be back fighting next year!

I need to make more everyday sacrifices I think. All the pennies add up. Fewer meals out and clothes. I am good with taking lunch in, and generally shopping at cheap places, but have cupboards full of stuff! Got to get better at buying less!

i have EXACTLY the same problem!!!

More excitingly, to me, we've been stalking this particular house for months now, owned by the parents of a good friend of mine who have been wanting to sell their old family home for ages but scared that someone will buy the place just for its land and knock the house down - it's old, and a bit shabby, and hard to renovate, in a ridiculously good location, so the risk is very real. I have been gently courting them for months and they have just, finally, decided to bite the bullet and sell to us.

(Part of my pitch went: if you sell to us, I am literally offering you every dollar I can scrape up, so we won't be able to afford to renovate, so we will preserve your home!).

So I am about to take on an eye-wateringly large mortgage, but the house has a big garden, and is walking distance from the library and the park and the duckpond and all the lovely FREE things my girls love to do, and we can get rid of a car, and oh I am so excited.

Better go join the MFW board, I suppose.

  • Are we having a 2014 board? (And 2015, and 2016! :o )
Have been doing really badly this year and I think we will end this year not far off where we started, but will try harder next year, promise!

  • recurrent-ostrich we definitely will have a 2014 thread. I will figure out how to set it up just a little closer to Christmas when I will have a bit more time.

I think when we set the thread up, we can add extra admins too, so I will probably put out an appeal soon if anyone is interested? I don't know what spagbols plans are for the thread, but I will move at some point in the early half of next year, which will probably send me AWOL for a few weeks!
