I'm hoping this move will change our perspective on things. Here, we've been rushing to pay stuff off and save so we could buy sooner. I think we'll be much happier in the new place so perhaps we can take it slowly and then actually enjoy some of what life has to offer!!! I think we deserve a holiday after the year we've had :D

  • Just back from a great week in Lisbon - we had such an MSE holiday - my OH spent a year living out of hotels for work and gathered so many points, we didn't pay a penny for our hotel. When we arrived, we realised we were in a €340 a night 2 room suite  A good thing too, as I got food poisoning one night (my birthday of all nights)! Lisbon was great - really quite cheap. I've come home with over €100 of change, despite having a big shopping spree and we didn't even stick to only cheap/free things.

32b3 I really enjoyed the bridge - it was amazing, and the first time I've seen a cable-stay bridge in real life. I took about 40 photos of it/me standing in front of it.

triple thanks for going through the thread - that sounds a lot more like it. I'm sure there is a way to turn on auto save for spag but I don't have 2003 anymore to try and find it.

amr Congratulations on the new house - I'm possibly facing packing soon myself, and don't envy you! I just have one room to move though :p

Lola don't forget to check out Gumtree and charity shops for second hand bikes. I got a second hand bike for £20 at a freshers fair one year, and gave it to the nearest charity shop when I left (didn't have time to sell it), they got £28 for it, and it was a decent bike! Some charity shops will even give you a call if something comes in.

Well done everyone else for all the debt clearing and new credit free purchases!

Well done on the MSE friendly holiday minicooper, sorry you got sick though :(

Glad you liked the bridge. I spent less than 24 hours in Portugal and all I remember is the bridge :) It just goes on forever doesn't it.

  • It was 10.2 miles 32b3 - that's 4x my daily trip to work  But it was pretty impressive! Portugal was really good though, I'd recommend you go for a longer visit - just remember, if they serve you pork that's cooked 'medium', it's actually under-cooked, not just the way they eat it out there!
