Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2013

It's madness, especially since home repairs to an investment property carry tax benefits. And yes, the most expensive part about having an investment property is tenant turnover, why on earth wouldn't you spend a bit of money to keep a good tenant happy?
(Look at me, as if I know what I'm talking about. We're about to buy an investment property so I've been doing a lot of studying about this, but I'm a total noob)
So much exciting news on here! mumsiemum, congratulations on DEBT FREE STATUS! Pom pom waving! Newlywed, it sounds like you and DH are kicking debt's !!!!. Kerri, congratulations to the OH. Good news all round.
I was expecting to be able to come on here and report DF goal reached this week, but a bunch of small expenses snuck their way past me at the last second, so not quite. I know it's a tiny amount I've got left, but I was so looking forward to taking the little bit left over from my salary and spending it on treats with a clear conscience, and here I am just short of goal instead.

amr - re:insurance, it will be in your policy documents that they can charge you for changes & amendments to your policy, it's normally classed as an "adminstration fee". Or, if there is a difference in insurance ratings between vehicles then it is the difference between premiums and this will be in the documents as well. I used to work in insurance, the only way to resolve it is to get them to listen back to the phone call and find the advisor in error, otherwise you're going to have to pay the cancellation fee.
the problem with this company is its all online. we asked for a number to ring to change the details over and they said you had to do it online. and it was VERY misleading imo, not clear about anything at all which is why we're cross - it shouldn't make out that there is x balance to pay and then send a letter in the post 2 weeks later that says its an ADDITIONAL balance to pay. ifthat was made clear at the time online then we would've cancelled there and then, but it wasn't, so now we have an amendment fee and a cancellation charge when it wouldve only been the cancellation charge if they had been clear about it.
and also if its all online why the  do we have to call up to find out what the debt is, why don't they pull their fingers out and email it! RANT!0 -

Hi everyone
I'm afraid I've been awol for almost 2 months - although I have still been reading.
My expected DFD was the end of February but due to family crisis, the death of a beloved pet and a reoccurance of my depression I went a bit mad on the spending front. The end of Feb came and I was not able to pay off my final CC. This made me feel even more of a failure and I couldn't face posting.
During March I've been trying to get myself sorted - my GP has put me on some meds and I am starting to feel better. The great news is that I have finally paid off my debt so am now officially debt free. I'm still skint though until I get paid at the end of April - but I figure its well worth throwing everything at CC to finish it off now! So - - - -

I've just looked at our snowball and edited our current debt and interest etc. Our monthly minimum payments are about £750 pcm :eek: (we will be so rich when we are DF! :rotfl:) and if we can overpay by about £500 pcm from salaries and selling stuff we should be debt free in 36 months :j:jDMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0
