Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2013

I agree - this thread is so good for motivation so even if you won't be DFBXmas it's a great way to stay motivated0

Wow there are some great successes on here - I am just putting together papers to go into a DMP with StepChange & crying a little at the thought of it all as I've fortunately not been in this position before but have clearly been overspending for far too many years !
I'm busy scanning all the papers in - now just need to pluck up the courage to hit the send button.
There is no way I'll be debt free for Xmas 2013 (short of a miracle, lottery win or house sale !).
You are taking the first steps and once you press send, hopefully you will not need to cry over this again. Good luck xx
I am sure there will be a DFBXmas 2014 thread. You most certainly are not the only one who will not clear all debts by Xmas 2013, so join in now and you will be an 'old hand' in the same thread next year

I stand at the counter in the post office pressing the air out of the parcels :rotfl: and I print the postage at home, so that makes me even more stupid!! lol This is probably why the woman behind the counter is so rude too
With regard to the postage thing. I never ever over charge, in fact, I have refunded postage in the past after printing it on-line and finding that I over estimated it by about £1.20. I was just surprised by the feedback from the woman, as she knew how much the postage I was charging when she bought the item, and still bid, and then commented on 5p difference. Ho hum, I am not precious about my feedback, she is entitled to her opinion
Today's items have started ending now, so I am off to press F5 loads :rotfl::rotfl:SPC9 #125 - £816.85

Just a quick comment about ebay and postage. The new sizes for parcels mean that anything sent in a shoe box size parcel will now cost more than £5.00 to post, I still haven't got my head round what constitutes a small parcel as opposed to a medium one because there are some exceptions to the new rule of 3cm being the maximum depth to qualify as small parcel (the other dimensions also have maximum measurements)
HTH
Correction: the maximum depth is 8cm (3 inches) . No wonder I am confused, I still have trouble with metric measurements!
Savings goal £30,000 1% = £300.

About the same with the bunnies to be honest  people don't realise how expensive rabbits are - you should expect to pay up to £1000 a year if you don't have any expensive vet bills!
it's their 1st birthday next week! Awwwww.
Happy Birthday Bunnies!Wow there are some great successes on here - I am just putting together papers to go into a DMP with StepChange & crying a little at the thought of it all as I've fortunately not been in this position before but have clearly been overspending for far too many years !

Good luck with the DMP, the hard bit is pushing that button after that you'll be fine32b3in2013 wrote: »I stand at the counter in the post office pressing the air out of the parcels :rotfl: and I print the postage at home, so that makes me even more stupid!! lol This is probably why the woman behind the counter is so rude too

Someone put me on the naughty step. I'm not quite sure what happened (no, that's not true, I know exactly what happened. I had a week off work and spent far too much money) but my debt has spiralled. I'm not just back at the beginning, I'm worse off!
I've transferred everything to the 0% until Xmas 2013 card, examined the future finances and had a very difficult discussion with the OH. Once the balances clear on the card I will update on here for the new total.
Essentially the plan (there's a spreadsheet) is as follows:
1. Take credit card that now has a 0% balance on it, put it in a drawer out of sight.
2. Reduce my contributions to our joint expenditure by £200/month for the next 6 months
3. Set up standing order to balance transfer credit card so that £200 goes straight towards my balance
4. When my overtime payments start coming through (monthly as of next week) transfer £200 to one account and remainder to a second account. First account is for holiday (non-negotiable and the only way we're going to get through this) second account is to hold overtime earnings and gain interest on them.
5. Make large payments to credit card when overtime builds up, but ensuring I still have a cushion of emergency money.
This should ensure I clear my debt by the end of the year, so long as the overtime keeps coming (and there's no reason why it shouldn't). I've found I'm very good at paying off the credit card, but will generally too much and then have to use the credit card again when a big unexpected expenses come up. Much as I love making constant payments off the card, I need to pace myself.
Thanks for listening to me!0 -
I think I should stop reading this forum - it makes me feel VERY nervous about our chances of a mortgage when we come to it, because of OH's dmp.0

Woop, the payments have started arriveing.
I know I should really wait until everything is paid and then update here, but I can't wait....
New total is #11 - £3756.76/£10,224 = 36.74% :j
I will be back to update when more have been paid for and all todays items have ended
