I'm especially keen to get it done now as, as of last night, (and it seems strange telling people this as it's clearly the kind of news you wouldn't yet tell close friends/family) DH and I have decided to start trying for a baby
! Even though people always say there's never a "right" time to start a family, being married and settled and (nearly) debt free seems like a pretty good time to us
Who knows what may happen or how long it may take but it's still exciting
WOW!!! How exciting :j:j thank you for sharing it with us!! We wish you the very best!February 2021 GC £301.45 / £300.00

Hello all!
Payday is finally here!! Thnk goodness, it's been a very long month!
I have paid £200 to my loan, £210 to my credit card and £140 to my credit card. I hope to reduce my overdraft by £100 too but will wait until all my direct debits have come off.
Also got £52 cashback from Quidco which was a nice wee surprise!
So for the moment, my new total is:

DollyRocker Please feel free to join anyway. Many of us were in the 2012 challenge and we're a friendly bunch. Doesn't matter if you think you'll be debt free next year or not. You could always set a mini-target to clear by Christmas 2013, or jut work towards the full amount and see how you do, then carry on to 2014 when the time comesI hope you decide to stay
Well done to everyone that's already managed to make payments. Very jealous! May have to find time in my lunch break to review the old spreadsheets and make one last payment of 2012. But for now I must get back to workThis place is a very tempting distraction!
Wow, exciting times in the new thread:D

 Hi Everyone - old and new. I'm not as organised as Helen Pie above - thanks for the welcome
I was all ready to get debt busting but not updating yet though as already had set back with my old car. Gonna trade it in for a newer to me model after skating around on motorway 2 nights ago. Scary stuff so despite HATING to spend money I am going to. Will update with new increased debt amount when I have purchased a car.
No matter what life flings at us this year let's make it a good one and do our best to become :money: and sort our finances out once and for all.

Congrats SuziTiger, and HelenPie that is super duper exciting!
Today is payday and although I need to do the money shuffle I'm going to forget it is payday and make the OH go to the bank so we can stuff our envelopes with dosh for the week. Although given that he's the bossy one, I can't see my attempts at getting him to do anything happen any time soon.
I'm really looking forward to the new yearalthough at the moment I don't want to go anywhere as my face feels like it's going to explode with a sinus infection

I have the lurgy and so does the OH....He is much sicker than I am though OBVS!
Has anyone tried this? http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/index.html
We have a V limited income for the next few months so need to make some serious cut backs. I did really well with the menu planning last year as far as saving money goes so am looking at doing that again but a bit more extreme.
I have ordered some bread flour from Approved Foods, I am not planning on buying ANY bread for the next 6 months. I have a bread maker I bought from the car booty for £3 it paid for itself by the time I had done 3 loaves.:)
Trying hard...failing miserably

Last DD of 2012 has gone out! That makes my current total:
£51 / £4400. It's a start, right!
When we get paid we are looking at paying off OH's first overdraft, approximately £122 as his DMP is not paying them for some reason.0 -
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the new members & big Congratulations to Suzitiger. Also exciting news for HelenPie - maybe we'll get another DFW baby this year!

Oooh this year is going to be exciting! Even more DF weddings and babies in the pipeline
Right, last payment from me for this year - OH paid his half of the food shopping and is paying for tonight's takeaway that I'd budgeted for, so another £30 gone to the card! Final totals for this year:
#048: £268/£5,400 4.96%
Right, off to finish an episode of Sherlock, unpack the shopping, make a trifle and maybe play some Hobbit Monopoly!See you next year! :rotfl:
