i wish my car insurance would hurry up - it's depressing seeing lots of money in the bank but knowing you can't use it for anything other than car insurance! eeek.

oh, i need 2 new tyres, also my tax is due at the end of feb - but luckily as its a band B car its only £25 or not... and i need to get it serviced at some point, probably march ...then MOT is due in june! its first MOT as its not quite 3 yet!

My car insurance, MOT, service and tax are all due in April! March will be a month of extra shifts and mega saving I think.

All our car related expenses happen in December, apart from the MOT. Which makes for a very tough and frugal xmas :(

    Hi Everyone,

Well I've had a productive week. I've applied to remortgage as an offset. I've set the term for 10 years  but its my aim to be MF by 50 - so thats 8 and a bit years away.

I seem to have loads of money left in my purse too! Just after payday I draw out what I need for the cash expenses - piano lessons, riding lessons, dinner money etc & £20 for me. We've done all the activities but I still have £70 left  Its left me wondering who I forgot to pay - lol.

I've paid a few bills and so I'm now declaring for January. I was paid yesterday, but I need to sort and allocate that so that will be Feb.

    hi everyone.

we've all made a fab start havent we?? im thrilled to be part of this i log in everyday even if i dont post.

anyway ive had a look at my finances and its seems i miscalculated.

ive taken a couple of things back so the money has come back onto my credit card, ive made a few odd small payments and ive realised that ive actually paid off more than i realise. ill work it out properly later and update totals but im really please cos its normally a miscalulation that i owe more lol.

we have just done a big food shop £110 for 3 of us but we got absolutely tons of stuff and will probably only spend £30-£50 for the next 2 or 3 weeks. so yes i think £100 a week can be done even for 5 of you. as long as you dont waste anything and cook from scratch which i do anyway its really quite possible.

no more spending for me this month so ill frugally wait for payday again on the 19th feb. it will be a long time coming - again xx

We spend £100 a week for the 5 of us, me, DH, two teenage boys and a 9 year old, one dog, two cats and four chickens. ;)

We buy mainly store brands (but not much Value stuff), cook most stuff from scratch and that includes lunches for us all. We don't drink alcohol, which helps!

  • Yeh count me in too please.

I turn the big 3-0 in November and got in to debt just before the big 2-0 as a student so maybe I can clear it all by November and make my 30s the decade I buy a house so I can marry Mrs Sam_In_Leeds for putting up with me.

I did a goal-seek/what-if analysis on an excel spreadsheet and I'm looking at October to be debt-free.

Currently stands at an interest-free total of £2712 but plan to make payments of £180 to 1 card and £59 on the other today so now I'll be £2473 in debt as at close of play tonight apart from any money left in current account on 21st February (22nd feb is pay day) and £400 emergency fund.

    :(
I spent 90% of my money on women, drink and fast cars. The rest I wasted. ...

Hi and welcome sam  you are #136 I have put you down for the full £2712 so you can declare your payment and up your percentage tomorrow :D is that ok?

Affordmylife...how lovely to have miscalculated in your favour! Well done good work :rotfl::T
