Boots sale

I loved the 75% off sale last year. Partly because I got some great bargains but also because I got one over on one of the trouts who works there. Don't get me wrong there are some nice people that work there but like all shops you always get a few trouts who can't bear to see anyone get a bargain. I remember last year I had about £80 worth of stuff, which came to £20. As she bagged it up she said, in the most sarcastic tone, 'What a bargain, aren't YOU lucky, that's only £20 to pay.' to which I replied 'actually I won't be paying anything' as I handed her my advantage card, 'the points will cover it and I'll still have some left over, now that IS a bargain.' Her face was priceless I honestly thought her head was going to explode with rage!
Cannot wait for this year, especially if i get the same woman lol
Good luck all28/04/11 - A bad day for shoppers everywhere (Tesco shoppers that is!) RIP DTD :A0 -

If my Points do not reappear as promised in two weeks I may lose sight of the funny side of it
I too had one of the Umberto Giannini sets damaged I presumed it was because the Guinness Glass I ordered was broken and had also damaged that.
I was refunded for both these items but also having replacements sent and was given points for the inconvenience of cutting my finger on broken glass. All points have gone onto my advantage today and phoned customer services yesterday, quite a fast process in all accounts.0 -

Thanks, that is reassuring.
As I was checking the Gift Set inside the packging box that had just been dramatically ripped open in front of me, I did mention to the sales assistant standing there in semi shock "of course if it is damaged at all, then you would maybe be able to let me have the other one instead at the 30% off?" and she grovelled a bit and mumbled "of course" :rotfl:0 -

 Urgghhh what a miserable trout!!! Its not really lucky either. A lot of it is being prepared, getting up early/booking the day off work, eyeing up whats to offer at your chosen store days/weeks before hand and endlessly thumbing the christmas catalogue until you have a headache, digging out the old ikea sacks the night before. Theres A LOT of works that goes into a 75% off sale:o
I would have rung customer services to complain about the trout in the hope that it may earn me a few more advantage card points lol:cool::rotfl:

Tell me about it, I'm tempted to book the day off work for this year. I have a boots in the town (which is always rammed on d-day lol) which opens at 8.30. I work in the town so if i get there for doors open then I have about 20 mins to do my thing to ensure I get into work on time which is what i done last year. But there is also a much bigger one that opened mid last year on the retail site about a 10 min drive away which opens at 9, which is never as busy as the one in the town as you can only get there by car. So might pop into town one to see what I can get and then shoot over (legally of course no speeding lol) to the retail park one in the hope that it won't be as busy and as it opens half an hour later I might be there not long after it opens.
Also I can never understand why staff are so snooty about us getting a bargain. I can't say what the 'policy' or anything is like in Boots as I've never worked there but a few years ago while at uni and working at Mr S if anything went on offer the staff would have a good old sort out before shop opened and had a basket (or trolley lol) with their stuff out back and pay at the end of their shift, manager said why not! More often than not the bargains never even made it to the shop floor lol.28/04/11 - A bad day for shoppers everywhere (Tesco shoppers that is!) RIP DTD :A0 -
A couple of years ago I was told in my local boots that they are not alowed to put stuff by, one lady even said some good stuff was put in the bin. Then last year i was at a boots in a different area and they had put some things behind the counter for themselfs to pay later. My friends works in M&S she said they are not alowed to put any thing by0

Last year when I was buying things in both Boots and BHS that were on sale I had the cashiers ask me if there were many of the products left. In fact in Boots, another cashier had just finished work and was going to get some offers and the girls who was serving me asked me to tell the other girl where the Glitter Babes sets I had purchased were. This other girl was going to buy them for her and she was giving her the money later.
The other girl in BHS said I hope there's some of those left for when I finish cause I want them lol. They were the food gifts like, vinegar sets and oil sets etc.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
I was in my local a couple of days after the 50% off sale started, and some poor shop assistant was stood behind the till with 2 baskets and a massive pile of gift sets some customer was buying :O There was A LOT of stuff, easily a couple of hundreds after discount! Some people really do go crazy.
As for the people getting points, well done! I recently had a terrible experience in one of my local stores. The only lift they have is a service lift which takes crates in. As i have a 5 month old the only way to get upstairs where the gifts and TOYS are is to ask a member of staff to take you up. About 15 minutes later on two separate occaisions, one time we managed to get upstairs, the other we walked out. There was 4 members of staff and my partner was told "we're dealing with another customer at the moment and we'll get back to you". No they didn't. Such a waste of time, especially with a car parking ticket and a grumbly child. I've emailed in but got a general response. Not much of a sorry for waiting around...On a better note, i did manage to get a playmobil set and a little lego set in the store, so all is not lost!0
