I wanted to post a picture of our christmas tree, but apparently "It's not finished yet". So no pics :(

I'm ordering my christmassy throws and cushions from asda direct tomorrow, I'm hoping they come before the 6th as that's when the new sofas are coming.

We now have christmas dinner plates and bowls, china ones! Had been looking everywhere for some, found them in B&M. Only problem was they didn't have enough matching cups:mad: Need to go back tomorrow.

Tomorrow afternoon is planned as a huge shopping trip to hopefully get the last of the presents. My PGP is getting worse and I don't want to go out more than I have to.

    It's December in 3 days:j

  • Hi,

I'm doing a Itailian hamper for my friend & have got a tin foil turkey roast tin from the poundshop. I got a paper Xmas table cloth & am using that to make it look pretty, but I think the silver foil looks good too.
  • happy birthday polar express

hugs to all who need them

italian hamper sounds loely and red green white paper covered box sounds ideal, or could you get a cheap italian flag and cover a box with that?

welcome to any new or returning christmas people

OrkneyStar lovely to see you here, ive spent the morning piling the settee with all my craft fayre makes, ive got everything finished the majority of the stuff is going to raise funds for the schools 'heads challenge' fund but the money from little flower brooches ive made are going to go to my brothers partner for a foundation shes set up her dream is to fund a garden in memory of all little ones who were taken its called the lily beau blue foundation, she hasnt really got a lot about it on the facebook page at the mo but she determined to do something. i made myself cry this morning just trying to word the poaster saying what the money was for while i was looking on the facebook page i saw a little poster ive printed off. it simply says "sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart"
Last year i made £20 for the school, this year im hoping to do better as ive already been given £10 by a neighbour who wanted 2 of the baby cardis id knitted so that will be my float.

Hope the craft fayre goes well mrs moneypenny, and the wording on your poster sounds just lovely!
We had a winter fayre at DS school, I did some paper crafts with the kids, we didn't raise loads at our bit but the kids who did it seemed to love it, and overall we raised a lot of money for the school. Was hard work but worth it! I am off in to school on monday too, to help with the school christmas craft day, helped last year too and it's all good fun!
I like to get involved with things, to me Christmas is as much about giving as anything else, I am not cash rich but I do have time and want to see smiling faces.

Sorry to see some of you aren't having such a great time at the moment, in particular Feisty I hope you and your DH can get some progress made with his health soon, and OMO that's disgusting the way your poor DD's been treated, I think you'd both be absolutely justified in having nothing more to do with any of them.

I'll just leave these festive hugs in a big pile over here and you can all help yourselves :).

OMG it's FRIDAY tomorrow!!! I'm going to put my tree and decs up tomorrow evening, then Winter Wonderland Saturday and Christmas market Sunday. The whole weekend will be awash with Christmas! I'm sooooo excited *bounces everywhere* :j

And as for Christmas tree-shaped crumpets, I looked at them and thought they weren't really worth it because they're more expensive than the usual crumpets, you're just paying for the shape. Then I immediately went back and added them to my order that's being delivered tonight...

Not sure we could get the crumpets up here (island dweller) but I did get some fair trade Ginger Christmas trees from a shop in town, much more expensive than normal biccies however it is fair trade and they are quite cool.

Ruth oooohhh those pancakes do look good :) What a really lovely thing to say :) you know I'm over emotional at the moment and now I have tears in my eyes. May I ask what a snow lodge mince pie is? xxx

I mean it. Such a nice place to spend an hour-or two!-every day. You're all such genuine, caring people. :)

Snowy lodge mince pies are just the name of the brand that Lidl sell. Supposed to be very tasty.
Changed my mind on the tagine. :D Have decided to put them an Italian hamper together. Have made a bit of a list of things to go in it and will shop around to see what good buys are available to go in it. That's the plan for now anyway :rotfl:

    Christmas pasta in Lidl-99p.
Ah...was still catching up. I see you've already looked for it. Would you like me to post a pic of the bag so you know what to look for?

Dad's home this weekend so I've been a busy bee nothing exciting though :( . We are VERY stuck on what to get mum for Christmas it's her big present were stumped, ideas for little bits, like the lasagne dish, a book, some dvds, but nothing main present ish :/

But for a little yayness - I'm going to the victorian fayre in Worcester tonight :D

They had some nice coloured individual lasagne dishes in Poundland. Like this: http://www.poundland.co.uk/two-tone-design-rectangular-dish
Enjoy the Victorian Fayre. I'm still hoping to go to that one with mum in a few weeks, so let us all know what it's like.

They are expensive compared to normal crumpets, but £1 for a festive treat that makes you smile isn't too bad. I think I'll get some for Christmas week. Maybe breakfast on christmas eve?

Oh, I meant to say earlier in reply to the post about the van. I once had a pedestrian RUN into me when I was waiting at traffic lights. My motorbike is bright red, so hard to miss, but this person just came from nowhere, smacked into me, then carried on running for her bus! Luckily I was stationary with both my feet on the ground, so she didn't knock me off-just knocked the wing mirror out of position. I was stunned, though. Are people that oblivious to their surroundings??? :rotfl:

glad everyone enjoyed your winter fayre, its having the itme to spend doing something like that that a lot of children and adults dont get, we are all so busy being busy that the enjoyable things are sometimes what slip between the cracks:(
i agree with your sentiments totally, ive donated my time and some of my wools and fabrics making stuff i dont expect it to sell for a huge amount but if people get a bargain and the causes i support get some extra funds im happy.
