whilst clearing out my bedroom i found 4 cross stitch xmas cards i made the kids a couple of years back. i had obviously saved them, but not sure why. anyway, theyre really lovely, 4 different tatty teddy designs, although only small. i havent cross-stitched in years, but i would like to recycle these pictures as gifts for the girls this xmas. they already have stockings, and i dont really want to just frame them..any ideas please??
omo - i had a blister on my little toe last week, and i was such a baby for days, they hurt so much dont they? doesnt matter how much you try to protect them, you always manage to catch them on something..or someone! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

I would get some beautiful red hoops, mount them attach beautiful ribbon bows and give them as Christmas tree decorations or wall hangers[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

God the tv is rubbish tonight! I've watched my sky plussed stuff and im bored. I'm about to watch The day after tomorrow on ch4+1. But I've seen it before and thought it was pants then.
I'm itching to get my sewing machine out, but I don't want to start any new projects until I've moved house.
What's everyone else doing? X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Oh Feisty I really feel for you. Clearing someone's house is utterly devastating. It's such a brutal job and you can't help but feel as if you're breaking up someone else's life, piece by piece. I found myself picking things up and wondering "Was this her favourite...?" etc. Give yourself a break, you deserve another fitbit if only for the horribleness of what you have had to do today (actually I think you deserve something far, far lovelier, but each to their own!) So don't hesitate! OMO is exactly right, what my experience made me decide is that whoever has the unfortunate job of clearing my home will know what mattered to me and what didn't - treasured memories (family photo's, trinkets with notes etc) in a special box clearly marked as such and everything else is just an object I acquired!
Pinknfluffy I'm with Feisty on the hoops, beautiful decorations to treasure forever!
My sister was a bit subdued today, understandable the pain she's in but it doesn't help that she is the world's most impatient person so depression/anxiety quickly follows any pain/suffering that she can't see an end to! If someone could actually tell her you'll be in agony until 8pm Thursday night, but fine after that, she would be happy I swear! I'm not a mum but understand how hard it must be to not be able to look after your little ones, especially when they're so young. Today her OH got a b*llocking for not using the microwave to heat up nephew's lunch to what she has obviously come to know as exactly the right temperature. He used the pan instead and all hell broke loose. I think he's going to be going through his own pain and suffering
I'm still trying to shake a cold and fell asleep before while OH was busy pottering. Now have that sleeping-in-the-day groggy head and THE THIRST that comes with it!0 -
Well me and my boyfriend have just had a random convo!! He thinks that when we get married (not even engaged yet!!) we should wear traditional wedding stuff to get married and for the party wear everyday clothes as neither of us like to be dressed up and only a few people in the family like to be he says everyone will be more relaxed in everyday clothes etc!! What do you guys think?
I think it's a great idea, your wedding day should be about doing what you want to do not necessarily what is expected of you. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and did it half traditional half what we wanted and in every single photo were smiling the whole way through(iincluding when we did the conga through the hotel bar). Have fun it costs a lot of money so do it your way and enjoy it :T :j0 -
Hi lovelies :hello:.
Wow, lots of people chatting tonight. DH watching QI, so quickly popping in to catch up.
Nanamia - glad that you enjoyed the panto, and another good day for your DSiL. You must be very pleased for her.
Feisty - sorry you lost your fitbit. It is an awful feeling when you loose something , isn't it? Fingers crossed that it turns up. If not, enjoy the new one !
Hanley - well done on your avatar and signature, clever you! Good luck to your DH in his new job. And re the surprise money - I'd have a little treat, new book / mag, scented candle, or crafting supplies, whatever takes your fancy in a small way - then use the money sensibly to pay off debts. Win/win situation!!
OMO and Pinksteps - hope your poorly bits soon feel better!
pinknfluffy - I agree with Feisty and caitlyn re the hoops idea. Perfect!
caitlynn - hope you and your sister both feel better soon. (My mum had an eye op , a few years ago. She coped very well, but at times she was very down and needed lots of reassurance that it would get better in time ). Sending hugs to you both.
Well folks it's the last night here for the Christmas lights, everything comes down and gets packed away tomorrow. So for now, just enjoying the twinkling tree.
Goodnight everyone, sleep tight xxx0 -
Hi kayandy!Personally, I think a wedding is a rare opportunity to get dressed up and feel special, not only for the bride and groom, but for the guests too. It is an occasion, and should be treated as such, and dressing up, perhaps in a new outfit if funds will stretch, only adds to the fun!
But that's just my opinion, everyone will have their own way of enjoying and remembering the day. Also, for the guests attending the evening reception, it is nice for them to see the bride in all her finery!
Funny you should have posted this just now, as we have had the most lovely surprise this morning. DH and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last November, and though we have lots of wonderful photos, we didn't have any video footage. This morning, ds's best friend dropped off a DVD of the video he took of the whole day - service, reception and evening party! It had been sitting forgotten in a box, until he got some new software for Christmas, and transferred it to DVD for us.
I must admit I cried as we watched it, as it showed not only DH, ds , dd and myself in our wedding finery, but also my dear dad, and MIL, both of whom have since passed away. I will make ds's friend a thank you card today, what a lovely surprise it was.
So kayandy, whatever you decide, hope your day is very special for you both!

Thanksages to go yet

Have a read up on Humanist weddings. - Unofficial here in England so you still have to do the registrary office bit too. I had a white dress for that. BUT (check this for MSE) For my wedding (s) I had 2 wedding dresses, rented out a 13 cent friary for 24 hours. All our guests stayed over, partied all night drank on our bill, (Mackro there;) ) Caterers did a BBQ in the estate garden, band, decor. Just under £2000 EVERYONE loved how laid back and informal it was. They loved helping set it all up for us too. Photographer came up from London, professional man setting up, needed something "different" for his portfolio. I have some amazing images of my dd1 and my guests. (weight issues spoil mine ) I was 2 hours late for my own wedding how bad is that! Hairdresser to blame.
Best day of my life. No big debt as we bought what we needed as we found it. We wrote our own vows that meant important things to us. We wore what we wanted to. I found a teal prom gown that I had altered. He wore his fav suit. Made my own invites, table decs. Fairy lights and organza drapped over ancient oak beams look amazing tobattery powered tea lights everywhere. The night was so romantic for everyone.
We are doing it all over again in a few years.
Weddings are a celebration of love. SO wear what you loveyou will feel all the better on the day. Don't be sold a white wedding just because thats what everyone else does.Make it your day.
Fiesty I hope you find that Fitbit.. even though you believe it lost. I hate that sinking feeling, the kick-yourself-for-being-so i was just looking at getting one. I so want to kick SW into touch.
I absolutely love this idea!! I'll have to look into when we do decide to get married0 -

Thanks Linda-Lou. Great advice. I plan on cross stitching all my Xmas Cards for family this year so I could buy some of the stuff I need for that. :TSavings Account - £0.00
