  • Love those seashell hearts. Great crafty idea for the kids to do too! Thank you!

kayandy - Our venue was a Youth Hostel hence having the place to ourselves. So with that in mind book well ahead - summer dates are much more pricey - April was fine though.

Started to list bits on Ebay to build funds up for the big Christmas/Birthday months, using "buy it now" for the first time, stuff is selling faster than I thought! :D

Must dash for the now. Back later!

I've got the slow cooker on with pork fillet and cider casserole. It smells good already.
Trying to get on with packing, but I'm running out of vacuum bags, boxes and tape, and still over half the house to do

    Hi all,
wrote out a long post on my phone last night but lost it  so waited until this morning to go on laptop.

Nanamia-glad to hear your dsil is doing better. Hopefully this will be the turning point in her recovery.

    Omo-CONGRATULATIONS! He looks lovely.
On another note I never saw the Christmas day troll thread but did happen to pop on to see the more recent one. What can you say? There are some strange people out there. Don't let them get to you.

Black cat - Happy belated birthday.

Caitlyn22- hope your sister starts feeling better soon. Sounds like a very frustrating time.

Hope everyone is OK. Had about 10 pages to catch up on so can't remember all, but just wanted to say well done to all those who have quit smoking and hello to more newbies.

Off to Hobby craft today to have a look at sale(hopefully there is something left) and also to look for supplies as after talking to my sister she mentioned that she has no photos of her 30th birthday, I seem to have them all so I thought for her 35th in March I would make her a little scrapbook of her 30th night out. I know its 5 years late but hopefully she will like that. I have never made one before so been googling like crazy.

  • Caitlyn how is your sister doing? hope shes making a good recovery

I had those same nightmares about my wedding! kept dreaing that I woke up and forgot it was my wedding day (yeah right!) and was in town shopping in jeans when I got a call saying 'where are you?' the same nigthmares I have every year that I forget its Christmas morning and trying deperately to find things to put in the kids stockings before they wake up! I think its my sub conscious having a laugh at the expense of my organisation skills!!

I did something every day in my lunch hour for our wedding, planned it for a year, we didnt spend a huge amount as we had just bought our first house, my wonderful late FIL got the wine in and he negotiated with the hotel that he would do some of the food (he was a chef) he did such a fantastic job!! my mum paid for the evening bar at the hotel, we were determined it was going to be relaxed and not too formal, and everyone said they enjoyed it so much, several said it was one of their favourite weddings they had attended, we had a wonderful time! Just remember to enjoy the day - it is your day after all! we kept the budget well in hand and used friends of friends/family for things like the cake and flowers.

On the other hand, I know somebody who remortgaged to spend a mind boggling amount on their childs wedding, he is an only child and it was a mindblowing wedding (designer everything!) but it is one day and paying that off is a long long slog, but then again; live and let live, it's their money and it was their choice to do it and it really was one wedding I would never forget!! but I heard many conversatiosn during the day guessing how much it must have cost!

PinknFluffy I cant help smiling about being a DG!, I work from home and my work can be 12 hours one day then 30 minutes another, I never quite know, so if I get a couple of quiet days I love getting ahead of myself, a sparkly (well nearly) house, ironing done (never quite!) dinner cooked early and be able to sit down and watch a moving with the kids after school is lovely, like you I worked very long hours for years and years in a stressful job, and when I get days that I can be a DG too I love it! we've earned it honey, enjoy it!

Hanley great news!!! was only complaining yesterday about the amount of PPI claim and accident compensation emails Im pestered with, and now look! you have benefitted and am really pleased for you - if it was me I'd split it 4 ways, I'd save some, pay off something with some, buy something we needed for the house/car repairs etc with some, then with the rest I'd take us out for a lovely meal and blow some on buying us all some treats!
  • Feisty Im the same when I lose something, always loath to replace it as it always turns up then! don't beat yourself up hun :( xxxxx

my grandma was in a wonderful nursing home, they were all absolutely lovely and treated her with such kindness and were genuinely very fond of her, as you say they do get a bad press but typically it's the very small minority giving a bad name to the wonderful majority :(

am going to walk up to Mr S and see what offers there are on what gifts are left - me, DS and DD are in the love catagory io Marmite, OH calls it 'evil in a jar'
  • I meant to say, for all those feeling a bit bleurgh about the fact the Christmas lights have come down, Ive got a year round solution!

I bought those pre lit twigs in Homebase last year, they have small and tall ones, I got tall brown ones and cream ones and put them in vases in the corner of the living room and dining room, you plug them in and they are really pretty, and its like having fairy ligths up all year  This year Ive bought a pre lit 4ft sparkly tree from J0hn Lew!s, it has little crystals all over it and tiny lights, when plugged in it looks so pretty and very striking as the branches are bare other than the lights and crystals, Ive got it on the side of the fireplace plugged in, and I have two of those tall figures which are like people in winter coats, hats, scarfs etc, the ones with the weighted boots? they are stood beside it and I have my Yankee candles on the other side, it looks great, sparkly without really being Christmas tree, and I will take the winter dolls away after the winter
  • I've lost 6lb this week

    Not sure where lol

I'm guessing it is mainly water that you lose in the first week but still, it's given me a smile from ear to ear.

I can honestly say it was with help from the fitbit ladies on here and from tomorrow I'm going to step it up a notch :D

That is wonderful! Well done you :T I was using myfitnesspal and fitbit (linked) told me that if I continued the Christmas splurge and didn't increase the exercise, I would be the size of a small house in 5 weeks  motivation for me ;)
