Dh is to be admitted. We are currently waiting on a bed for him - apparently it is code black at Southampton, meaning no spare beds. Seeing as it has been so difficult getting shop cover for tomorrow morning (never mind the rest of the week) it has made me realise again that maybe giving up the shop dream is for the best - Dhs hospital trips are only going to get more frequent the older we get as he has congenital heart problems.[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

I've seen chocolate tea in tesco this morning and was very tempted to buy it for the chocolate hamper I'm doing for some friends. However, I had a mad moment and thought I can make that as got loose tea and cocoa powder, sure to find an easy recipe online....yeah, I'm struggling. Can you clever ladies help me pls? I even have some tea bags waiting to be filled 😉thanks0

I was sitting with my sister today discussing Christmas dinner menu. My mum always did choice of 2 starters, then home made soup, turkey or gammon with all the trimmings (think food mountain) then 2 choices of pudding, cheese board then nibbles of later on incase anyone was hungry lol.
But this year my sister says leave the soup out as that's one of the reasons we are all so stuffed by the time the main is ready. My other sister said have soup as a starter.
I'm really traditinal and hate to change things to do with Christmas as it takes me back to being young and of good times.
What to do you all have for Christmas dinner? X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
had to smile at the soup comment, my older kids honestly said they would stop coming back if i didnt do hm mushroom soup as a starter. DD2s fella hates mushrooms so the choice in our house is hm mushroom along side a differnt soup for him (he gets a tin im not faffing around with hm soup for 1)
main is a variety, 2 meat eaters, 5 veggies and 2 vegans so its what every meat the carnivores want (last year i cheated with that and got some sliced ready cooked turkey from a deli and reheated it throughly in gravy) will be mushroom tarts for the veggies and a nut roast for the vegans.
everyone gets christmas pud with either custard (made with soya milk so anyone can have it) or ice cream i have some dairy free so all comers catered for there.
maybe you could cut down on the amounts of each course you do ie find out what everyone likes so its soup of what every flavour, followed by main, followed by pudding.SPC~12 ot 124

Hugs to all those that need them.
I can only ever manage to eat two courses, so would go with soup and turkey for a traditional meal. That is what I will be doing for my work's do.
However, my DS and I are not actually fans of turkey and cannot stand Christmas cake or mince pies. So as it is just the two of us for Christmas day this year, we will be having a t-bone steak and cheese and biscuits for afters. Not very Christmassy, but that is what we prefer, and since it is Christmas, we're going to treat ourselves and eat what we would really like to have.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
