I'd love to Ruth I did mean it in a good way :) the more I read the more I fancy an adventure to the big smoke ha. Just got to persuade DH now, Mrsinvisibles Jack the Ripper tour might just do the trick for him.
You are so right, you do appreciate treats more when you are being sensible. Right now I'm craving pastry ha, it's mince pies I think. Weigh day tomorrow so a little treat is in order xxx

Jack the Ripper tour is right up my DH street too. The ghost bus tour was a giggle, but more comedy 'horror' than proper scary.
My treat earlier was a cupcake I made for hubby's birthday. Pretty much had to fight the cat for it! She was really trying to get at it to lick!
Right, better turn the light off and get some zzzzzs. Night all! :)

My cat does that when I have a baked potato with cheese - no idea why but she tries everything to get at it
  • Omo so glad you had a great trip, I look forward to hearing all about it later :)

Freespirit bless your DD - what a sweet, lovely thing for her to do :)

Nic, it really takes a battering to your christmas spirit when you attend such a pants event :( It's bad enough for the adults, but the poor children! Have you considered finding your local councils facebook page and writing a complaining post? I'm sure you won't be the only one on there!

Hanley - now what a best friend! Mine think I'm a nut for even considering wrapping before mid december, let alone actually doing it!

Chrissy, do you have an outdoors shed, or car-porch? My step Dad has cheaply and quickly connected ours to an electric source that way - it would be such a shame to lose it :(

JJ I really hope you have an amazing time!

Nana, good luck with the weigh in, and enjoy that mince pie treat!

We had a lovely belated anniversary :) DH didn't have a clue, so when I burst in with pain au choc and tea in bed, shouting Happy Anniversary, he was somewhat startled! When I explained it had all been arranged that we would be off, and gave him a card to me to fill out (he would have been gutted if I gave him one, and he didn't have one for me) his face was an absolute picture!

One good thing about the day off, is that it made me realise that we can actually do this again once the shop is gone, guilt free!

DH is off to the hospital today, and finances have dictated I have to go to work - his parents are taking him. It looks like his water tablets stopped working before they did all of what they were supposed to, so there is a risk he will be admitted today :( I will have to do my best to go up and see him when I finish at 1 if that is the case.

For those on the ground almond hunt, there are plenty here

I'm trying to organise a cheesy Christmas night with friends - pot luck nibbles with board games and charades - trying to get a night with them all together is proving near impossible!

  • Ruth - many thanks for the motorbike ideas. That is great. Hubby has started looking - so far it might be some muc off cleaner maybe microfibre cloth and a couple of other small bits. Will do them up with the xmas cellophane and ribbon. If DS sees the list he will probably borrow it to get some ideas what to buy for her too. :D Thanks again.

Hope everyone is well! Hoping to do a lot of my shopping whilst away made sure I have room in suitcase to bring stuff back x

Hope you have a lovely time junior_j.

Well today's Wintertainment was a huge let down.

Lots of people were disappointed. If they couldn't get enough money to host it, then they shouldn't have bothered with a sad disappointing one. :(

Sounds as though you had a miserable time. They will probably say that its due to cut backs.
Evening everyone, nothing christmassy been done this weekend but had a lovely, chilled out, relaxing one and DD1 finally told me where we are going for my joint birthday/christmas present, we are going to Birmingham Christmas Market, i am so excited, she has booked a travelodge for the night as well so we get 2 days shopping in the Bull Ring and the xmas market, bless her, i havent had a night away for nearly 2 years  DS has booked a day off holiday to look after the dog so i have nothing to worry about except have a great time, and DD2 did something sweet tonight that brought tears to my eyes, i think we are all in a festive mood now chez freespirit :)

One of the things my motorbike riding OH gets such pleasure from is a new Buff. It's a thin material tube that you can pull up over the back of head and nose and stops draughts down the back of the neck. Otherwise it's just a warm but light material worn round the neck. If its a lady motorbiker its brilliant if you pull up over back of head and ears then your crash helmet doesn't rip your earrings out! Believe me as a lady motorbiker they are amazing. Aldi were selling some last week but you can get them in motorbike shops or walking outdoor type shops. Just don't get a cheaply nylon one as they sweat.

b_e_g that's a marathon tv catch up. You'll be up half the night! We recorded xfactor and I'm a celeb to cut out the adverts, they have so many don't they. xxx

Thats what we do. Rarely watch anything in real time. On the very rare occasion we do, when the ads come on, I sit there pointing remote at tv insisting remote needs new batteries. DH just sits there smirking :rotfl:

Don't think there is anyone in the Jungle that I feel I must watch but I quite like Ant and Decs comments.

  • OMO - so pleased you had a lovely trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it later. Hope you manage to get away with DD too.

FF - well done on orgainising your duvet day. I think more of us could do with doing this but we just don't. There always seems other things that have to be done but now and again its nice to take time out for ourselves. We should make it a resolution for 2014 ;). Hope hubby gets sorted at hospital without having to stay in (fingers crossed).

Oh no I have been on the laptop too long - can hear the floorboards - DH has beaten me into the bathroom.
