Morning everyone :hello:
Just thought I would pop in a have a little catch up with you all from the weekend.
Pinklady - hope all works out for you and your family. Sending you a big virtual hug. Sounds as though hubby has had some good training on the xmas shopping front.
KAYA AND PEPPAPIG - belated birthday wishes to you both.
Have done Mum's xmas shopping for her and got it all wrapped yesterday except for a couple of gifts she has for a little one (she didn't have any suitable wrapping). So that's not too bad, is it?
Came across an offer on LivingSocial - for a trip around a brewery £8 for 2 (think its usually £9 each) so I have nabbed that to go with my brothers present and that's him finished. Thought that it would be a bit different to the usual wine - bit of a theme going on there hic
Might get out into the shops later today. DH has to phone the dentist first thing as his front crown has come loose AGAIN grrrrrrr.
Oh well off to make a cuppa now.

Pinklady, you poor thing. I can't begin to imagine the anguish and worry you are going through. I just wanted to tell you I'm thinking of you, and that I truly hope it all works out xxx
Freespirit, was that naughty BD in town? I shall send Cesar Millan round to show it what for! Really glad your son is back in the work seat
Nana, you really are an inspiration! I have faith that that niggly last 1lb will come off! If not this week, then next
Despite being told on the 15th October that he had suspected heart failure, we still haven't had an appointment throughI am so cross I could cry! Add to it that DH is being a nightmare about chasing it up and I am doubly annoyed. Family think he may just be scared and not wanting the appointment to confirm our worse fears, so he is putting it off. I'm torn between wanting to protect him or slap him for putting us all through extra worry and stress on top of his Grandad.
Our person that was due to work the mornings for me from now until Christmas didn't turn up for her induction Friday grrrrr! She is the previous owners daughter and has worked there since the business opened, so I think she thought she could just dive in and start her first shift (solo) without even meeting us. Her excuse was she was too busy, and didn't get round to phoning to tell usI have said she can start next week (shop will be closed until I can get there at 1.30pm) but I'm wondering whether to put someone else in, or to just keep it closed in the mornings as it is already running at a loss, and adding staff wages on, will just make that loss even more
First day back to work today, oddly I am looking forward to it[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

Morning
Happy belated birthday Kaya and Peppapig
Glad your feeling better Freespirit. Hope Ds like his new job.
I was greeted today by 2 presentsBut she did them on the tiled hall floor and not the lounge carpet. As all her food is new I am going to have to cut one thing out at a time. I have a sneaky feeling it could be the knuckle bone I bought her on Friday.
So I will leave the rest of her food as is for a few days and see.
As for her and Robbie, they ran me into the ground, then the pair of them collapsed.
Off to give Mia a quick walk before work.
Ps I found a nice black and grey dog bed half price in Dunelms. Am picking it up this afternoon. I will put it on top of the bed she has now, to make it nice and padded.0 -

Many thanks for this reminder.
Mondays are my day off, so after I've had a tidy up I shall pop the heating & this on & snuggle up for the afternoon. It's quite cold here this morning.
Not much Christmas prep going to happen today as the children are still on half term but I think I'll get them to help me to have the deep clean/sort out in their room needed & by help I mean .... play downstairs & try not to fight & argue :snow_laug:snow_grin
I forgot to add yesterday that the presents I've already brought are wrapped, labelled & put away. I did find it really helpful & this is the first year I have done it but I wrote a list of what each child had as I wrapped so that one doesn't end up with more than the other & I still have a rough of idea of what is left to get.
Does anyone else find the one child is soO0Oo much easier to buy for than the other?
Bizarrely though, these children seem to have swapped places this year ~scratches head ~
Oh, & when I went to IKEA the other day, they were selling packs of ready made gingerbread houses that just needed gluing together & decorating. Very cheap, around £2.50ish but I thought it would be a great activity for the DDs to do when the Christmas hols begin.
I like to make my own & I have a story to tell about that too that I'll save for another day! I ummmd & arrrd yesterday about making the Christmas cake. I made my first ever one 2 years ago, following Delias recipe & it turned out amazing if I do say so myself!... I was very impressed but unfortunately it is only myself & teenage DS who like Christmas cake so it really is a too expensive activity for just himself & I. But WE ALL like gingerbread houses so I'll put the pennies towards that instead.
Picked up a very Christmasssy looking bottle of mulled wine from Aldi on Saturday & squirreled it away to the back of the cupboard too.
OMO that is a very cute pic. I remember vividly my dog from childhood, such fond memories & our bond. There is something very special about the relationship between a dog & a child.
Good luck for your weigh in Nana. This is something I really need to get a grip of myself so well done you :T
Best wishes & thoughts to those in hospital or making hospital visits

mrsChristmas - That's what we used to tell our kids if we wanted to get something done without them in the way. You can help by a) keeping out of the way or b) you'll be given jobs to occupy you.
With a boy and a girl, son was easier when younger liking science kits and lego and remote controlled stuff. Daughter more difficult and frequently guessed wrong. I thought she'd adore a Fur Real monkey she turned out to hate. Now they're 13 and 10 son wants virtual stuff, his pc to go faster, on-line games which is difficult for the extended family who are older and want a present to wrap for him and DD has a huge list of desires!
Christmas buying go on hold for a while. Sick of paying out for stuff at min!
Telling everyone here cos am so proud but during last weeks hos son had letter to say he'd been accepted on this.

Morning everyone!
Been up for two hours already, so thought I'd come and say hello while it's quiet here. Feeling a bit yuck this morning. Lots of sniffing and sneezing, so think I'm coming down with something.
Still in Gloucestershire with my mum. She had a bit of a traumatic night on Saturday. On the way home from work she was overtaken by someone speeding on a bend in the road, then saw the car spin out of control, hit a tree, flip over and smash up when landing! She pulled over and called 999, expecting that the person in the car was badly injured or had been killed, but was amazed when she saw a young guy walking away from the wreck. How he survived the crash is a miracle, but he was pretty much unhurt-just some bruising and minor cuts. Must've been horrible to see that happen, though. Hope he's learnt his lesson about not speeding or overtaking when you shouldn't be!
It's so cold here this morning. I'm wearing my new Christmas jumper over my pjs and have a blanket over me too. Think I might read some more of my Christmas book (Meet me under the mistletoe) while I wait for mum to wake up. Oh, I enjoyed reading Skipping Christmas, by the way. Thanks for the recommendation. Nice to have a Christmas book that isn't a soppy romance.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
