mumof3plusoh - I couldn't agree more - they don't seem to have very good manners. Elder one even told me he wanted my baby dead when I fell pregnant....but that's another story.
Why on earth are you buying them presents??0 -
The orange/pink speech bubble under a post is your friend there - click that on the posts you want to quote then click 'Post Reply' at the end of the thread and your posts are ready to quote
I think it only lets you select 3 posts at a time though...
Thanks lazysheep, hoping this is working!FeistyFidget wrote: »Thank you all for your input

What an appalling thing to say! What on earth did his mother say?
Sorry, but I don't think they would be getting anything from me.

FeistyFidget-As much as Im sure you'd like to not get them anything Im sure its not that easy. Someone we know is like that apparently (dont see them much) but I couldnt just not buy them a present. (would cause world war 3 for a start, not worth it!) I never have any idea what to get her! If I were you Id look out for Amazon lego bargains throughout the year. (assuming its for christmas) x
Have just got in from the shops, had to get some food as I felt like Mother Hubbard! Popped into Family Bargains and got some 50p christmas stickers, 50p festive washing up gloves x 4 for stockings and 2 hardback Dr Who books for 99p each. (one for me/DS, 1 for a gift) Its this one but hardback so fab bargain! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-The-Coming-Terraphiles/dp/1849901406/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357327309&sr=8-1-spell Also popped into our tiny Sainsburys on the offchance any gifts would be left and was thrilled to see 1 lonely custard jug left. :j Also got OH a Marmite cutlery set for £2.70, didnt have much else left but will pop back next week to grab some wrapping paper if they have any left. Also going to try the big Sainsburys!
I am determined to learn to drive this year. It is not fun to drag DS out shopping (he hates it with a passion) and having to walk the long way to get money out of the bank (can only use Lloyds) is even more of a pain. Took 40 minutes to get there today. (got the bus back, fingers were nearly falling off just walking to the bus stop lol) Also we cant really go anywhere when OH is at work, its a bus and train to my mums which costs about £11 for me and DS and a return bus to town for me and DS is nearly £8! Buses are every half hour if you're lucky too! Theres literally nowhere good to walk to except the park (only so many times you can go there!) as we're basically slap bang in the middle of a huge housing estate and the trading estate next to us! Anyway after that moan lol, what I wanted to ask is has anyone ever done a 'crash course' in driving? I would rather save up and do that then spend endless money doing one lesson a week (all we could afford at most) and I would love to be able to drive by the summer holidays!'They only had one cow!'0 -

Yep i did, a number of years ago.. you have to have passed your theory test before you can do any lessons (well with bsm anyway) then i had the lessons over 2 weeks as thats how they could fit me in.. took the test and passed. Best way i could have done it or i would have given up, or decided i couldn't afford it.. was my treat to me for divorcing the ex LOL well one of many treats actually but thats another story lolTotally debt free wohooo 2014

Welcome newbies and congratulations Linda-Lou on your avatar :T
Feistyfidget - what a terrible thing to say, did anyone tell them how inappropriate they were?Hobnobs are like marines0 -
With regards to the nasty pregnancy comment, we actually lost the baby a few days later - his Mother was adamant he didn't mean it - but seeing as he always has a tantrum when he can't get his own way, I think he did.
Would love to not get them anything, but it would indeed cause world war 3. And as much as the oxfam gift seems like a wonderful idea, I know that there would be so many snidey comments about an inappropriate gift for a child that would be said behind my back[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

anyone thinking of a night in/puzzle hamper or Feisty maybe something suitable for the "difficult to buy for boys" heres a link to 'The happy puzzle company' they have some great games esp stocking filler type things for kids and adults alike for up to 80% off.
My friend used them last year (to buy many £2 presents for our kids secret santas) - she had super service and the presents were great quality. HTH someone x

hi all
its bhatti, i joined yesterday
PRESENTS
i would recommend a shop called B&M for gifts, its very cheap and the quality is good however, if the boys are fussy, just give them £5 each.
DRIVING
it took me about just over a year to drive, i had 1month driving around with my huby and 12 months non stop with a tutor.
my tutor did say that she has never had a student who didn't learn in 12 months (if they didn't take breaks between weeks.)
i passed on my 3rd test and on a manual car, it cost me about £2,500 to pass that includes everything.
my cousin was wiser then me, he didn't have that sort or money or time, he learnt to drive an automatic car. he passed in 3months (2-3 lessons a week) and it cost him about £600.
hope that helps

So have got to rethink his present. Can't do a hamper themed round cheese, with no cheese in it.
OMO it could have been worse, he could have been like Ruth Jones in 'A Childs Christmas in Wales' (scroll along to 11:30) with you saying one year "in that case I apologise for getting you over 10 years worth of cheese and cheese-related paraphernalia":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
