  • With regards to the nasty pregnancy comment, we actually lost the baby a few days later - his Mother was adamant he didn't mean it - but seeing as he always has a tantrum when he can't get his own way, I think he did.

Would love to not get them anything, but it would indeed cause world war 3. And as much as the oxfam gift seems like a wonderful idea, I know that there would be so many snidey comments about an inappropriate gift for a child that would be said behind my back :(

I'm so sorry :( if i was you i'd fill a box up with sweets with the highest number of e numbers in, and maybe put some pencils and colouring book in the middle.. Kids will love getting a sweetie hamper and the mother well... she'll love to peel them off the wall ;)

    Xmas Saver!
Have just got in from the shops, had to get some food as I felt like Mother Hubbard! Popped into Family Bargains and got some 50p christmas stickers, 50p festive washing up gloves x 4 for stockings and 2 hardback Dr Who books for 99p each. (one for me/DS, 1 for a gift) Its this one but hardback so fab bargain! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-The-Coming-Terraphiles/dp/1849901406/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357327309&sr=8-1-spell Also popped into our tiny Sainsburys on the offchance any gifts would be left and was thrilled to see 1 lonely custard jug left. :j Also got OH a Marmite cutlery set for £2.70, didnt have much else left but will pop back next week to grab some wrapping paper if they have any left. Also going to try the big Sainsburys!

:rotfl: That is the funniest thing I have read in ages.:rotfl:

Did you buy any food, or just fill your empty cupboards with Christmas Sale Bargains ? :rotfl:

Welcome newbies and congratulations Linda-Lou on your avatar :T

Feistyfidget - what a terrible thing to say, did anyone tell them how inappropriate they were?

I can never get Lidl links to open for me. It always wants my postcode then freezes.

    Xmas Saver!
OMO it could have been worse, he could have been like Ruth Jones in 'A Childs Christmas in Wales' (scroll along to 11:30) with you saying one year "in that case I apologise for getting you over 10 years worth of cheese and cheese-related paraphernalia":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I love that film/show. Yes it could be worse.

I bought ds shortbread every Christmas for years. Last year he asked me why I bought them ?
    'Because you like them'
'Do I don't, I throw them away every year.'

Well I've already failed miserably in my aim to post and not lurk - in my defence I can only say that it's so interesting reading all your news and advice that I completely forget to say anything myself.

OMO - huge congratulations on your new grandson(s)! I know your cheese hamper post wasn't really funny for you but it did make me laugh.
Feisty - they sound horrendous - could you give them something they're likely to be allergic to? Cruel but oh so worth it
    Pinknfluffy - well done you.
Nanamia - I don't know why but I've always read your name as Nanamania (:o) - makes more sense your way though. Really glad to hear your DSIL looks to be on the mend and hope you get to make your trip as planned.

Happy Birthday to those I've missed and welcome to all new posters/lurkers.

Keep posting lovelies - you're an absolute tonic!
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • Many thanks for the driving advice, I think its the best way to go! I am extremely nervous with new people (and even not so new lol) and if I had weekly lessons Id be so anxious before each lesson! Would rather get it all over with!

OMO-I did buy some food, honest. :D

Thank you lazysheep and springdreams. Will have a go, wish me luck, I'm not very techie-minded!

Now I just have to learn how to multi quote too!

    xxx

Wowsers I've missed a lot haha. Linda-Lou thanks for asking the above, I'm gonna get myself an avatar and a signature :j

Sorry I won't comment on all news but Own My Own congratulations on the birth of your DGS and sorry about the troll. Although I guess Internet trolls only exist to highlight how nice some other people are :)

Nanamia I am so pleased to hear of your DSIL's improvement ? Sending lots of love and best wishes for all they're worth.

Well done to all the smoking quitters!!! I don't know personally how hard it is but my DH was forced to give up when diagnosed with Crohn's so I see how much he struggles sometimes. Kudos to you all :T

Had a reflective few days - we had my grandma's funeral yesterday so have spent a lot of time thinking about what's important in life and what (or who) isn't. Bizarrely, with that and completing a budget for 2013, I feel like I'm in a good place :)

Im gobsmacked!! Recieved a refund as my rudewrappings.com order did not arrive and had to open a paypal case. Was always very polite in my emails and did not actually state that I hadnt received an email confirmation, just that I could not seem to find it. This is what they have written on paypal: 'You did receive an order confirmation, as we have a record of this email being opened. We tracked the package and have it confirmed as being at your local sorting office but uncollected. Please do not use our site again.'

They didnt tell me about it being at the sorting office until the refund just now and I did not get a card through the door, had they have told me that I could have gone down there and asked! Certainly live up to their 'rude' name!

I am much better today I ended up going to work this morning! So glad I did as hubby is off today and he is 'dying'. Why do men think a cold is 100 times worse when they have it? Off to read the rest of the thread as since last night there are another 6 pages!!!!
