fluffysox- congratulations!!! What a lovely thing for your toddler to do-bet your heart swelled and you had a tear in your eye when he handed over his fave car?

mrsinvisible- I think what you've got planned is a good idea, doing something or going somewhere he enjoyed. I wouldn't think that there is a 'set' thing to do on such an anniversary, each to their own . Whatever you do- enjoy your memories (that sounds corny but you know what I mean).

OMO- you're not boring! I always said if I won the lottery I would have a completely white room all to myself_no OH, kids or pets to would be allowed in to muck it up!! Problem is I would most likely be bored senseless on my own (cus I loves em too much!).
Ideally it would have a massive Christmas tree in the corner that I could have up all year round to stare at the twinkly lights.................I can dream can't I??? (mind you it would help if I actually did the lottery!!)
    lovin' this site!

Quick question, I know a few of you lovely people decorate wooden plaques shapes etc, I'd like to do a little something for DGD2s bedroom, would you use acrylic paint, gently sand and then varnish? It's all new to me xxx

Well in the crazy Nana house things are on the up :) woo hoo. At last, finally the last few bits to be done will be done over the next few days. Got a mishmash of cushions today and some lime curtains, also got the hold back things for the curtains so think the buying is all done. Fingers toes and everything else crossed that the little dining table and chairs arrives tomorrow as promised and then I can take a few snaps and stop going on about it xxx

Alja if I don't 'bump' into you before you go have a great time xxx

Freespirit how you doing my lovely :) Thinking of you and sending hugs xxx

Nana, it depends on the finish you want to be honest. Acrylic will give a slightly glossy look to it. If you are looking for a distressed shabby chic look, (and it's for decoration only) I would go for a matte emulsion. The best look will be achieved by using chalk paint, but at over £15 a litre, it aint cheap. You could seal the emulsion with a clear wax, which would protect it a bit. The only issue is that when you try to sand, you may get some of the surrounding paint chipping/peeling away. Hope this helps x

Sequeena, my cousin has two children affected with that and I know there are different levels, but hers cope very well :) Her youngest is being measured up for some kind of orthopedic shoes. So glad Thomas is home xxx

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Baileys is definitely on offer in morrisons. £9 for a litre bottle. Only original flavour in mine but that suits us.

I've seen you all set weekly targets I think I need to start doing that, I'm pretty organised with the kids gifts but I need to start organising the house. Especially as I return to work after maternity leave in the first week of the new year :(

I did check in yesterday but I was in reading only mode, the stupid spare laptop broke and I had to press and hold each key for 30seconds before anything appeared sooo frustrating!!!!
But thankyou to whoever it was pointed me towards the green dress I have it book marked to try :D

FeistyFidget Your luminary (? is that the right word? feel I should scroll back up and check...) is absolutely beautiful! I think the price sounds fine, in fact you could probably round it up to £20 and noone would notice... £18.50 people tend to round up to 20 in their head anyway, it would be 17 that would get rounded down to 15 but its definitely worth more than!
I can't wait to see the stag one!
I think stags/ woodland are definitely the new way to keep Christmas stuff out all year round... I have the reindeer - now ring holder, two felt mushrooms, and several owl decorations which live in my room all year round lol.
aliaslotte The hamper is looking fab! I love hamper type pressies, more work but so much more exciting too!
    fluffysox Congratulations!

I'm doing my trial run of the 'Festive Squash Jalouise' (bbc good food recipe) today , I'm making it as the Veggie alternative to Turkey for my Christmas dinner with friends. Wish me luck... lol

Thanks for the feedback on the lights for my tree. I'm hoping the DIY shop still has its discount on its connectible LED lights next week when I go. Think I'll go for 400 white or thereabouts depending on how many are on a string. I'm also thinking about putting some around the picture rail mixed with tinsel so the whole room can be lit up. Its something my uncle has done in his house only he uses garlands and I love the way it looks :D

Planning for Christmas gifts is done, lots of food based ones this year so I'll be leaving them until the 18th Nov when DD has an INSET day in school. At least everyone is planned for, I just need to start the actual shopping :o

  • Hi all, sorry I have been AWOL for a few days, and I have loads to catch up on, luckily I have an early finish tomorrow!
Just wanted to brag a little, my wonderful mum popped round with a little "cheering up" gift of half a dozen lush bubble bars! Now just have the task of choosing which one to try 1st, and keeping them hidden from dds!

I hope everyone is well xx

    On quick break at work.

    Congratulations Fluffysoxxxxx

By 8.30 this morning I had been to 2 Morrisons and had bought 4 bottles of Baileys.
My Dad informed me last night he couldn't drink it because it contains milk. That was until he heard the price and ask if I could get him a couple of bottles. :rotfl:

Am back in Morrisons tonight to do weekly shop, but wasn't sure if they would have any left by 6. I think I saw quite a few bags of chocolates half price this morning, but didn't have time to have a proper look. I may get a bag just incase we get any kids round on Halloween.

On the Christmas front I only need to get some jelly sweets. We have Pringles and Chocs already.
