  • Managed to sort the wool and its all bagged and ready to start some projects. Knitted a pair of mittens and started on a jumper. Put up a curtain rail and heavy curtain in hall to keep the cold out. So that is both of last weeks tasks complete. As for this week I have a doctors appointment tues so I think I am going to concentrate on getting the house tidy and making lists for a complete lifestyle change in the new year.

    Ruth_honey - Your cat is really cute :)

    Thanks to dropsofjupiter, boiler_man and Nanamia for gingerbread house suggestions. Might get the Lakeland one as I need a few other bits from there :)

    Need to finish making the OH's advent calendar this week. I know it's terrible but I'm on number 16 and I'm finding it a bit of a chore sewing all of these tiny stockings. I really don't have the patience but I'm in the home stretch now.

    Fluffy socks. I have been buying them from Pound stretcher and B&M recently. They are £1 (or 99p) for one pair but buy 2 get 3rd free. They do a plain cream coloured one. I've been buying them for DD who dislikes the feel of normal socks, but wasn't allowed to wear her trainer ones for a recent residential walking in the Yorkshire Dales.

    We went to Ikea today, though only came back with a few bits. DH vetoed my suggestion of putting reindeer meat that I saw frozen in their food dept into the Xmas Eve hamper and calling it a Rudolph sandwich. :rotfl: He said DD would cry (extremely likely). Teen might have been amused though. :D

    I was meant to be doing 4 days at work next week, but someone's course has been cancelled so I am really hoping it is only 1. I have been struggling with being at work so much last few weeks. Hopefully I'll have time to catch up here.

    I bought Boots OOTW for my sister's 40th which is today. It's a no17 make up kit for £17. Think I'll go back and get another for neices xmas pressie.

    Went shopping with DD yesterday. She used to go to swimmign lessons on Sat, but we packed them in cos she wasn't prgoressing. She can swim this was to improve technique,, and it was costing. Now it costs me more to take her shopping instead! On hearing that I never had a stocking as a child she has decided she will do me one. I gave her a tenner and for the first time I heard her grumble about prices and be excited about how much further her cash went in £1 shops, Boyes and Home Bargains.:D

    Oh my lovely, it isn't about who's problems are worse. Each persons problems are individual to them, they are impacting on them and as valid as anyone elses. My problems pale compared to other peoples, but it always helps to talk it through xxx

    Have just remembered a possible present for MIL - she mentioned a few weeks back that she was after a knitted tea cosy and has struggled to find a nice one. She asked if any of my crafty associates would be able to whip one up, well I guess it slipped my mind. Will get on Etsy and have a look for her :)

    fluffysox I don't understand the not doing cards and giving the money to charity, it's just lazy.... We buy RNLI cards every year (we have boat) and some air ambulance ones this year ( was a charity grandad always gave money to if he saw someone collecting), so we do both! Charity gets the money and we get pretty cards :D lol
    and craftymummy I love the idea of using it for a hamper, one of my friends has moved into her own place this year so would be a good idea for her whose having to start from scratch on the christmas decoration front, and trying to save for a wedding :|
    Nanamia that paper is gorgeous! My dad won't let us wall paper he hates the stuff :(

  • Just tried the cinnamon Pringles...to die for!!! I can see myself getting slightly addicted to these. :o
    Our Home Bargains is now opened so went over there and picked up a few bits for DDs stockings. Found some nice snowflake boxes (2 for 99p) so bought them for DDs teachers snowflake presents. Had a look for fluffy socks there, but no luck. Like you've said, hopefully more will be in the shops after Halloween. Did see a foot cream and socks gifts set but was the wrong colour....
    Weather is horrible here today, would love to snuggle up on the sofa with my cinnamon Pringles and surf the net, but its not going to happen.
  • Finished my "pamper hamper" for my partner. Really pleased with what I've managed to get and it still comes in at less than the smaller bottle of the fragrance he likes [I am sure someone else will get him that - think his sister bought the last bottle]...

    * Lord of Misrule Ballistic [lush]
    * Radox shower/hair wash x2
    * Radox muscle soak
    * 3x flannels
    * Duck 'soap on a rope' [it is so cute lol!]
    * Loofah and sponge.

    * Whittard's Hot Choc

    Hopefully he will like it and will appreciate the thought lol. :)

    I had a look at wrapping paper in B&M. They actually had some really nice ones, and not too badly priced. There was plenty though and none that jumped out at me as being exactly what I wanted, so I resisted. Might end up getting some though, if I can't find any elsewhere that I like. :)

    Oh, and I also popped to M*rrisons. They have bags of Cadbury's treatsize chocolate bars for £1.50 - 22 in a bag. Says they are "better than half price". Might be useful for people doing sweetie assortments etc.
