I so agree, I understand if people don't like Christmas because of bad experiences but the vast number "dont like it" just so they can moan!

Its extra to what they would get if we didn't but chariry cards though. .. I'm not saying this is our way of giving to charity god no mum gives through her salery, we have rnli membership.
Thing is I don't believe that even half the people who say they do that do. .. its generally the lazy uninterested people who just can't be bothered writing cards n consider their purchase of a 20p cake on red nose day to be their cake, charity pot, Christmas cards, feel good donation of the year.
I was in rag society n getting people to give anything to charity is really really hard work even when your making it easy for them.
Or the I'm just cynical. ..

Just wanted to say I'm one of those that doesn't really do Christmas cards anymore. We used to send 100+, and at 60p per stamp for first, and 50p for second, we can't justify spending £50 / £60 on sending cards. That's on top of having bought them.
We send a handful, and emails out to a lot of people.
Last year we donated around £40 / £50 to charity instead of sending the cards.
Quite a lot of our friends do something similar
It feels good donating that money to charity rather than giving it to Royal MailMarried 23rd June 2012Trying to pay off some capital on our mortgage & save some pennies for our futureSealed pot challenges started 08/10/13!Sealed Pot #1434Virtual Sealed Pot #1100 -

I'm looking at buying Lego Friends for DD1 and looking to see where the best offers are. ToysRUs have a free gift and Boots have 3 for 2 plus an extra 1000 points next Wednesday for their Christmas event. Anyone else seen any offers anywhere?
best bet is to start with which sets you want then see which deals work out best value. boots 3 for 2 with the bonus points event its ok if you local stocks the products you want which mine doesnt
toysrus are also doing £15 gift card when you spends £100 but amazon have some reductions at the moment which may work out cheaper. also might be worth keeping an eye on sains as they usually run the 1/2 price toys sale end of 1/2 term/halloween week & amazon sometimes price matches.
B]nanamia[/B] love the wallpaper bet your glad its finally up and thing are coming together at last
aliaslotte the pamper hamper sounds great much more personal
giggle love the bags
any suggestions on something barbie for a 3-4yr old? got a budget of upto £10 but that doesnt seem to get alot
also has anyone seen any cheap spongebob bits? usually find them in the likes of £land but no sign this yrthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -

Our Home Bargains is now opened so went over there and picked up a few bits for DDs stockings. Found some nice snowflake boxes (2 for 99p) so bought them for DDs teachers snowflake presents. Had a look for fluffy socks there, but no luck. Like you've said, hopefully more will be in the shops after Halloween. Did see a foot cream and socks gifts set but was the wrong colour....
Weather is horrible here today, would love to snuggle up on the sofa with my cinnamon Pringles and surf the net, but its not going to happen.
you are not kidding there. I got one of those and one of the mint choc ones to 'put away'. but decided to try the cinnamon ones on Saturday morning. basically I kept going back until I had eaten the whole tube by 6pm.I think they are gorgeous and will definitely be having some more if my hips can stand it. they remind me of something but I can't think what. they are cinnamony like cinnamon buns but theres a slight saltiness about them. bliss

Feeling slightly happier. I have been paid for a huge order. So have just order a Skylanders started pack for DS. And sme happyland things for my youngest DD. still loads to buy, but it's a start.
My 8yr old DD likes Hollister, so try to find it cheap. No idea what size to buy her now though. She had a hoodie given to her, it the labels were cut off for some reason.
I still havnt heard back from Tesco about the job, I'm hoping no news is good news as other people have said they got an email saying no just a few hours after the interview. X
if you can find out what size your dd is for definite then go on ebay. as long as the person has 100% feedback and the p and p isn't ridiculous then you can get some real bargains. I put in New With Tags in the filter at the side. I just got a brand new G Star Raw Hoodie for my ds, he is 14 and already in XL mens. It still has the tags on it at £90 and I got it for £16.55 with £3.50 p and p. I have also bought my dd a Victorias Secret 'Pink' t- shirt. £8.05 should be £35 and my dh a Superdry zip up sweatshirt £25.65 should be £65.0 -
Ellie_B Good to hear that some that say they do actually do

I never send cards either.. to me cards are for those people you think about but rarely see mainly people who live in other parts of the world for us. It seems far to cruel to trees. I also don't do birthday cards either.. things like new baby or weddings I usually do mainly because those are the ones people will keep.
rescheduled delivery of OH's present.. I don't know what level of packaging it will arrive in and I don't want him to know what it is. Nana, that wallpaper looks even better on the wall than it did in the preview, you must be so pleased with it.
Feisty, glad your first week ended well after all and sending positive vibes to Mr F. My husband suffers with heart failure although the impact on the 'personal' regions isn't quite so serious for us as we're past the baby stage. I really hope it all works out well for both of you.
Also sending hugs and positive vibes to Freespirit and everyone else who is suffering with the black dog or in any other way.
Thanks to everyone for the festive posts - I have to come on here every day to get my Christmas fix and you never let me down.
Did the weekly food shop at Aldi this morning (can't believe how much cheaper it is than Asda) and their gingerbread houses are so cute I was really tempted to buy one. Have spent this afternoon relaxing on the sofa in front of a roaring fire. Must admit getting a bit hot now lol.
Have my gorgeous DGD coming for few days next week (Mon to Thurs) so really looking forward to that although I'll be a total wreck once she's gone - early mornings aren't really my thing anymore. Off to Ludlow tomorrow for the day so looking forward to that. I think there's a Christmas market there at the end of November so hoping to go over there for that too although DD1's baby is due the same week so might end up giving it a miss this year.
Need to brave Ikea one day this week as desperate for some of their scented t-lights (some for me and some to finish pamper hamper pressie). Ooh, and TKMaxx had some fabulous Christmas stuff out in their homeware dept yesterday. I did buy a very fat robin to clip on the Christmas tree. They also had some lovely snowglobes so I might end up going back for one of those too. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
