Today is my first diabetic anniversary - I was diagnosed with type 1 on 6th October last year after a very dramatic hospitalisation where I was fighting for my life with frighteningly high blood sugar readings and very acidic blood, and it's amazing how far I feel like I've come after thinking Christmas would be ruined by my new dietary restrictions - as it happens, there is very little I can't eat, so I feel much more relaxed about this Christmas now that I know it'll all be nice and normal again
My daughter was diagnosed T1 3 years ago at the end of this month (strange as I now know a lot of people diagnosed in October????)anyway, she eats what and when she wants, within reason and she is soooo looking forward to her reindeer hot chocolate, snowman soup, advent calendar, Christmas cake, thorntons santa and whatever else the season brings, (not forgetting Halloween ) bit of extra work for me and a few more tests than normal but it's Christmas and the big D doesn't rule in our houseSkint, but happy (ish):p0 -
Oh clever girl Quidsy I forgot about Heros
Now who can I get to pick me a couple of tins up? Thanks lovelies

Hi everyone :santa2:
It's a game trying to keep up with you all! But today is my first day of no work, so just me & Mali and it's lovely! I feel really chilled out!
Have been more winter prepping than xmas prepping, gardens are completely sorted, just have a few more store cupboard things to stock up on and then we can hibernate:rotfl:
Girls birthdays are before xmas so just getting those planned. Ordered lots of decorations for the house, how helpful that I just have to switch from happy 7th birthday to happy first the next day! Just need to buy party food & wrap up their presents.
Christmas! Well, I am currently elf-ing. Only 4 more days mischief to think of! Christmas eve hamper just left are dvd (pre-ordered the snowman and the snow dog released 11th Nov) reindeer food & lush bomb (Thanks Ameyturtle for the suggestion, yes we all love bubbles!)
Christmas front, Mali is still done and her stocking is coming along nicely. Nia's stocking is done but need to do more on the pressie front however, we have been GIVEN a ds lite, just need to buy a charger which is great. I'm going to buy her a hello kitty cover & bag to keep it in and then I have a huge box which the car seat came which I'm going to fill with hopefully, smaller boxes until it comes to the DS! That along side a bag of pressies of which she has asked for lego & playmobil and we'll be done yaay! We have decided to do each other a stocking up to £20 and then buy a tassimo machine so we can have costa pods!
I am making sleighs for;
Aunt
Uncle
Cousin 1
Cousin 2
Cousin's gf
Nan
Grandad
Debating teacher, and two teaching assistants but I'm not sure. Plenty of time to decide though! Has anyone used anything instead of kit kats for the base?
Saw in b&m for £5.99 these hair rollers http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008R7XMXA/ref=s9_simh_gw_p194_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=06VJFT69DEH8D2HV6857&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=429454147&pf_rd_i=468294
Any ideas for an 83 year old who is unfortunately suffering with throat cancer and will be starting chemo in three weeks. So will be still be treated at Christmas. We usually buy her luxury biscuits but she isn't really eating. Def wouldnt want to get smellies. She lives with her daughter so is well looked after and a lot of people buy for her so she is overwhelmed with slippers etc. I did think of maybe a nice candle? But this is dh's nanna so he has to approve of any ideas I give him! Oh and to add we gave her a framed pic of us and the kids the past two years running so can't really do that again!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -

I have to say, with all the sweets, chocolates & Christmas treats in my house atm I am so glad I have my loft to store it all in & that hubby keeps the key to the door on his work bunch as there is NO way it would last till Christmas if it were in plain sight. lolI don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Morning everyone, DS has two interviews this afternoon, so am keeping fingers crossed, he still has job at the big M and has done his induction, waiting for a start date, but a recruitment company emailed him to go for an interview with them and have put him forward for these, they are temp at first with a view to becoming permanent, plus this week he has a days filming for a very big company (cant say who), its like buses wait for ages then they all come at once, DD1 starts her new role today, she is so happy, although its not a promotion, its a sideways move, but they asked for her and she hated her other dept, so hopefully all is looking up for the kiddos
NANAMIA my sister from another mister :rotfl:your LR is really getting there now, wow and you have xmas food in your freezer, go you!!! What a beautiful story about you and DH, i knew he had been very very ill but didnt realise it had got to that point, no wonder you feel very blessed with your family. Today i have really got to do some housework, being ill the house has gone to pot big style!!
AMEY have a lovely day off, and no you are not selfish at all my lovely x
MRSINVISIBLE you make me feel so lazy, the amount you get done so today i am going to live by your motto, new day feeling positive
CHRISSYG lolling at the dog :rotfl:such good news about the residential college, glad you have had an apology and hope DD is getting on well in the new college
MRSMONEYPENNY i bet DDs hoodie will be money well spent, she will be needing that watching rugby games, how sweet of DS to think of his big sis
ALIASLOTTE there are quite a few bargains to be had on yankee candles at the moment, depending on her favourite smell
NOODLES i think a lovely yankee candle would make a super present for this lady, im sure the fragrance would perk her up when she is feeling at her lowest, they do a lovely Rose fragrance, which really is like smelling a rose its beautiful, not synthetic at all, or Lavender it depends on what her favourite smell is
