Hi all Feel a bit ashamed posting as it's been so long since I have been on here I feel like a newbie. : (
Short version is two ops (1 small which went wrong so had 1 big a week and a half later) left me with anxiety issues, stress, many black dog days, and I am on anti depressants and seeing a counsellor.
I have read the thread from time to time but just haven't been able to keep up with the pace.
I decided though that you are all such a friendly bunch that it won't matter that I only pop in every once in a while.

Hello BBTHREE lovely to see you back, im sorry you have had such a rough year, never be ashamed at the moment its hard for any of us to keep up all this xmas natter :)

So when I got back from town Ds was sitting in the lounge playing his PS3 looking rather glum. Not speaking, just mumbling under his breath. Tottenham were drawing 0-0 with Cardiff.
Next thing I know he is jumping round the room. They had scored in the 93rd minute. Slight over reaction I thought.
Until he pulled the betting slip from his pocket.
    He had won £303
And bless him he is giving me £100 of it tomorrow to treat myself. I am putting it away for London. :D

We found Tango shower gel and thought it was funny so DD1 decided to do DS a tango hamper, as well as the gel she has 2 bottles of drink, ice pops, poppingcandy, chocolate, chewy bars, it is going to look fab when all put together, your DS rocks!!! he is such a fantastic young man.

Firstly as Freespirit so rightly says Linky your "DS Rocks" after all they years of worry you must be so very very proud. This job and meeting his pal have been the absolute making of him haven't they? Plus all the lives he's touched and brought joy to through you on here. He's amazing. I do hope you and DD know what a wonderful job you've done:) xxx

Seriously I know I've mentioned it before but I think he'd be an Internet sensation if you blogged his tales :) (he'd probably hate it though wouldn't he?)

I also can't believe the amount of work you've put in, in organising us. Thank you Linky you are one very special lady xxx

  • Hi all, sorry I have been AWOL but the black dog is firmly in residence and I'm struggling with everything at the moment.

Best friend messaged me Friday to tell be that she has been plucking up the courage to tell me that she is pregnant - over the moon for her, but it brings our issues to the front of my mind. Then I had another message today from a close friend telling me the same. DH is telling me we don't need children as we have the dogs - I just want to cry and now we have business related dramas to contend with too.

An employee has left me in the lurch and I've had to cancel her placement with a practice tomorrow at short notice, understandably the practice is furious and at best we have lost them as a contract and at worst our reputation will also be tarnished so we may lose a few others.

Also we are going to be about 2k short for the business (money will not clear for a month after sale day) so it looks like I will have to get a loan.

Sorry to bring the christmas vibe down, but you are always so supportive x

I had missed you on here and was going to check if you were ok if we hadnt heard anything today, i am so sorry you feel so down, of course you are upset about your dear friends news, it must hurt like hell, but they must think so very much of you to have worried about telling you and not wanting to upset you, this and the new business and the current businesses are enough to knock anyone down but then you have DH health worries on top of everything, i think the BD is a way of your body telling you to try and slow down and take stock of your life, you have so many plates in the air some whirling at a comfortable pace and in control and then others where they are going so fast you have no control over them, these ones you need to spend time on getting them back into control, so that you feel comfortable dealing with them, your employee letting you down, you cant control this, but worrying yourself that your reputation will be sullied you can control, it may never happen, you are a very strong person, and i know you will come through this stronger than ever, you are such an inspiration on here to a lot of us. (oh god i hope you understand what i am trying to say it comes from the heart) sending you lots of strength vibes and keep talking to us it helps so much x

Hello, yes we did and its our favourite time of the month when we get together with Dsis and neice and nephew for dinner and lots of laughs so although i was busy cleaning and cooking its been a lovely day :) oh the tango hamper will look fab, it looks great just with all the bits together and she has got some orange and black tissue paper, DS will love it, have you had a good day?

OMO right my targets this week are
    1. write lists of ingredients and menus for normal dinners in december
    2. write xmas cards
    3. change £2 coins into notes for DNs and DNs xmas money wallets

Quidsy you are doing so well. I'd love to start my wrapping but just don't have anywhere to keep them safely :( They loft is very hard to get to so only ventured into when we are desperate.
Debndot when I started to do my daily catch up I read you very popping onto the Next site I thought Noooooooo it's fatal then I catch up and yep fears were right haha! I can't believe I'm resisting (up to now) xxx
Mrsinvisible aha pool, as my DH says it's the sign of a misspent youth! Or maybe that's just him :) What did your dear friend think of her gift this morning? Well done to your DD and her Avon party, that's good going isn't it? Will you please report back on your visit to the range? I've not been think when I looked last year we had our nearest in southport or Rochdale so a trip to southport may be in order! It's almost the seaside :) xxx
Princess hope your bathroom is coming along now, did you manage to replace the cooker too? I love lakeland - it is my favourite shop, I'm not very often allowed in tho:( DH knows what will happen. Some things do seem expensive I know but often I've seen the idea in there and looked else where for it! There baking stuff can't be beaten tho it has a lifetime guarantee, I've slowly built my collection. I can not believe the throws in primark are £10! No way! I know they were nice last year but I'm sure they were £5. xxx
Spendless what a stroke of luck that was bumping into DDs friend. I hope timing wise too that it all works out in the morning :) You did well with your bargains too didn't you. I could do with a trip to Claire's I think but this week it'll be trips to builder warehouse for me :( x
Msgigglewick you clever thing sounds like you've transformed your eating habits. Well done you. I was so shocked with myself the other day, I was on the phone to BFF (usually hour daily call-you think I can chatter on here!!!) and DH comes in from takeaway (not for me) he gets his tray etc unwraps his kebab and I'm chatting and the smell ohh was delicious. So out loud I said "Oooh that smells delicious" and guess what it was that was making my mouth water???? The salad haha. Thought my BFF was gonna whip in her car and drive to mine she was that shocked haha before I started this plan I never ate veg/fruit of any description and now the smell of salad is making my mouth water. (I've obviously been swapped by alien life form)
And yes my friend the Lego feeling mania started with you! You and you alone are responsible for this latest crazy :) xxx
Murie you are so right, it's almost a full time job keeping up at the mo! To say I spend longer on this thread than I do doing housework is no exaggeration :) I did chuckle at your DH lack of gardening skills, he's not daft is he (I'm exactly the same) x
Cymrumum thank you so much for the Chester zoo link, it sounds magical. I'm going to ask DD in the morning if I can book, it'll go in my advent hamper :) xxx
Pinknfluffy Shame DH had to be called in but I'm not at all surprised you needed a drink after that! I didn't want to say yesterday but thought you must be well and truly in 'zone' so the meds must be working. That is truly wonderful news, how fab that your first dosage seems to be working so well :) (sad tho to think how long you'd all suffered before, still onwards and upwards ) xxx
Crowdpleaser love the sound of your wrapping tradition :) DD and I have a wrapping day, well she brings her gifts and chatters and I wrap :) xxx
Alja you have had a productive day :) well done. Those marmalades are unusual aren't they, perfect for a posh hamper x
Flowfy thanks for the tip, will look at HB for Christmas DVDs, I've had a few decent children's films from there before but haven't seen any Christmas ones-yet! X
Mrs Hayes sorry your LO was feeling poorly today, hope he's feeling brighter tomorrow. It is nice to get cuddles tho isn't it. dGD2 was a bit off today, she is never normally still but today she sat snuggled up after we'd been playing out in the sunshine with friends and neighbours and had a little picnic lunch. Probably the last now till next year xxx
Tibawo hiya, welcome aboard. Careful tho it's addictive :)
Linky you must've looked like a bag lady, all those things :) How was Robbie? X
Choccymoose wow that is god going xxx
Babyboo I too love the M&S wrapping paper, I know it's not mse but even tho I've loads in my stash I always want the latest one! Don't buy the Next wrap tho, I foolishly fell for it last year, looked fab but half was too think and wouldn't wrap without folding and wouldn't stick with cello tape because of the glitter and the other was that thin it kept ripping! X
Hanley oh no that is going to be one long week :( sending hugs xxx
Snugglebunny hope the new contract brings you all that you want, you've worked hard and made sacrifices to get it xxx
Kelly7 I do hope that the Christmas DVD was enough to refresh your Christmas spirit, sending twinkling fairy lights your way, stick with us though cos it's addictive xxx
Lizzie_b hi and a very warm welcome to you too x
Katmum I'm glad you've found that you enjoy wrapping, could you persuade Linky is very therapeutic :) she hates it! I think you've cracked it now tho, doing it in small doses (hopefully, I will be able to too)x
Bunty I'm doing my cards too this week, postage being what it is it'll be good if you didn't that've to post the presents wouldn't it :) fingers crossed x
Feisty aww my lovely, I thought something might be wrong :( But I'd persuaded myself that you'd both got so involved with new shop excitement you'd had no time to chat. What a very trying time for you both at the moment :( Im sending big hugs and I'm sure your chinchillas are providing you cuddles and amusement. As the other lovelies have already said, your client will hopefully understand, things sometimes happen which are beyond our control, even if we thing we've planned for everything. You need to take a step back, I know you are truly amazing, and our very own Wonder Woman but you are human. Please don't be so hard on yourself. Your friends news must have been bitter sweet, of course you are delighted for both couples but on the other hand. I honestly believe that the new venture will be the making of you both and who knows when DH is fit again and the business is thriving, you are both happy and relaxed who knows what may happen. xxx

Ooh Freespirit I'm so glad it's been a good day :) Isn't it the simple things that matter? I've had a good day today too, totally unproductive in the jobs/lists/sorting my house out stakes but I've laughed too :)
DD came early this morning with DGD2, she left DGD2 with me and her and her DH went off to food shop! We played in the garden with darling neighbours three children and a great time was had, we cobbled together an impromptu picnic lunch and enjoyed just being together :) I moan a lot but I really am lucky:) It's so heartwarming to have these friends around even you know who (neighbour from hell) who was lurking couldn't put a spanner in the works! (She's been to not to communicate with me through body or any other language else she'll be breaking her tenancy agreement) It's not nice but the way our houses are laid out she has to walk past my gate in order to get to and from her house.
Update on the living room: plaster almost completely dry so beginning the many coats of emulsion could begin Tuesday I believe :) Still not told DH how much the paper is but am beginning to think he's come to terms with the fact it's going to be the one! xxx

  • Thank you everyone for your kind words - I knew you'd all understand :)

The reason I got into such a tizzy is that there used to be another local nursing agency that gradually went bust because of the same issues - staff not being reliable. All the practices still complain about the lovely lady now - sadly I can see it's not her fault but the nurses, but that obviously isn't going to help as it's our reputation that gets sullied - It's the second time it has happened to this poor practice with my nurses :(

DH has told me to get stricter with the nurses, but the terrible truth is I don't have enough of them and so if they leave, I'm in trouble. They all get paid a very good hourly rate, but because of the nature of agency work there is no minimum contract, so they generally only do it short term until a permanent placement comes up :(

Will phone the practice properly first thing and offer them 20% discount off their next 5 days - hopefully this will go some-way to calming the situation down. The irony is that the practice have cancelled my nurses short notice several times before and I have never once charged them a late cancellation fee :(
