mandco yes I do enjoy doing the shoeboxes, it's amazing how a little box can mean so much to a child so always try to do it.
freespirit i'm so sorry to hear about the flooding - what a nightmare! I do hope you manage to get someone to sort it out soon for you, and like others have said ask your son to help deal with he workmen.
04624181 I do hope that you can find something that helps to ease the pain soon.
pinknfluffy sounds like you got a good haul too at HB! I love it because you put quite a few things in the basket but then it doesn't come to that much at the till.
stephyt23 I got the flannel from Home Bargains - and it is a bargain! I know what you mean about finding shoe boxes, I like to do two - one for a boy and one for a girl, well I've only got one shoebox at the moment, I need to find another from somewhere!
OMO sounds like you got some great finds at the car boot. I'm quite disappointed with myself this year as I kept thinking i'd go to one during the summer but haven't got around to going to any! Perhaps I can still catch a couple at some point.
snugglebunny you must find it hard not being there when your children come home, but as they say i'm sure they're ok. From the sounds of it you're a pretty fantastic mum so i'm sure that more than makes up for it. Good idea with the Winter Wonderland chocs and candles gift bundles, it's fun finding a theme like that.
Nanamia that jar of 50 reasons why she's a great friend is an amazing present! I can't imagine how fantastic it would be to receive that. Congrats on your weight loss that's a fantastic achievement. :T
Ameyturtle I made a yule log last Christmas for a dinner party and put some sparklers in it - it was a fun way to present it and fit in really well at Christmas.
Hello GlamGirlie, i'm afraid I don't know when the Boots offers start but as soon as it does I can guarantee someone will post it on here!0 -
Well I didn't do any shopping at the weekend but did manage to watch a couple of the cooking programmes. I really wish i'd got myself into gear and recorded some more! I absolutely loved watching Delia's Classic Christmas on Saturday afternoon - although I got so engrossed and caught up in the Christmas spirit (even though it was obviously not filmed at Christmas with all the fruit and leaves on the trees
) that I was really disoriented when it finished, it was hard to get my head back into the fact it was only September! When I came down on Sunday morning part of me expected there to be fairy lights and decorations everywhere! :rotfl:
freespirit I enjoy watching Ina Garten on Barefoot Contessa, I like what she cooks. I don't like watching many of the American cookery programmes but I do enjoy hers.
Thanks again LINKYPIE for the heads up, I would never have known that was happening this weekend. That's why I love this thread - nothing 'Christmas' gets past us!0 -
Just running in to say 99p shop had dog treat stocking & dog advent calendars!
Free spirit hope you have managed to salvage some items!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
Alja you poor thing. Would you be better if somebody was with you, to build your confidence back? It's such a shame that you get to miss out:( Did you manage to find anything local?
Thank you for caring and for everyone else's lovely comments! I really appreciate it. It's silly as once I'm actually driving I'm fine really, it's just occasionally I work myself up before driving, which is really silly! I now walk to work so I don't have to drive often which doesn't help. I'm sure I'll get back into it slowly but surely (hopefully! haha!)
I managed to pick up some foodie bits for my parents' hamper. Shortbread, red onion chutney and some walnut whips! It's a start at least0 -
Not sure but I think some of the cooking programmes may be on You Tube.0

I like the look of this! Has anyone done one before - are they easy?
Fancy making one but I'm not that creative - dont have a sewing machine either but could try and borrow ine
An easy cheat would be to use a pillow case, sew it shut (one long straight stitch) and then get multicoloured felt (it doesn't fray) and then make squares - you could get fabric glue to stick the felt numbers onto the felt squares if you don't fancy sewing them and then you would just need to sew round 3 sides of the squares leaving the top bit openJust remember to pin everything out before you start sewing or else you will do something similar to me and realize you've run out of room

Evening everyone, well DS brought some drain unblocker home (nasty stuff) and we have been putting that down it and lifting revolting stuff out we werent sure at first if its fat, washing powder or what and some boiling water it has gone down but not sure how deep blockage goes so we are going to leave it overnight and look in the morning (stupid ex had put wood over the top of drain so we never noticed it was backing up god knows how long it has been blocked) if it is still bad then we will call housing in the morning, aaarggh
LALAGOMAY she usually does that with rocky road or brownies i did it for my nieces and nephews last xmas they loved it

0462 I know exactly how you feel about SW, you don't feel hungry. I feel guilty when somebody congratulates me cos its so easy( thanks Feisty, Princess ) I know it sounds geeky but it's more a plan for life than a diet, healthy eating that we should be doing anyway
I even stuck to it in Oz, I've never dieted before cos only started to put weight on about 10/15 years ago after always being slim- time to get rid of it now tho
