I went shopping today to look for some musical toys for Robbie. My God baby toys are expensive.
We ended up getting baby cases for my iPad and my old iPhone 3.
I have downloaded loads of games and songs on to them so he has lots of things to do .
The iPad case was £19.99 in Argos and the iPhone case was £12.99 in ToysRus .

I also now don't have to have a house full of toys.
I must say I am very pleased with them. Fisher Price do some great baby apps. Yes I have been playing them .
( he does have normal toys at my house as well. )0 -

I'll be glad when this bl00dy prom ( Friday) is over. Dd now upstairs in tears. It is all just to much for her. She had to put the dress on 5 times tonight so I could fit it properly. She didn't want a belt, then she did, then it was too wide etc.
Generally she is quite confident, but this is really getting to her.
I think part of the problem is that some of the girls have dresses costing over £300. And her dress is an altered £60 one.
She picked it and likes it, but I'm sure it is playing on her mind.
She's now worried the hair piece won't go right, even though it did when we tried it. ( it's a bun that goes on the back of her head).
I just feel so sorry for her.0 -
Evening everyone,
NANAMIA oh im so glad about DH i was worried that you werent able to go to oz, a nice long rest in oz will do him the power of good, and get you away from that vile woman neighbour, UNBELIEVABLE!!! My advice would be dont trouble yourself to do anything before you go away otherwise you will worry yourself, but write down dates, times, what was said, witnesses, what happened on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere safe, then when you come back if anything else happens you have enough to make a complaint. I dont know what has triggered it this time, i am a worrier and worry about anything and everything, the kids, money, xmas etc yes i find snoozing helps enormously. Ermm nails, :rotfl:well in the space of a week and half i broke two gel nails, so DD1 did acrylics and i woke up this morning and i have broke the corner off one of these, DD said mum how can you break acrylics, you are going to cost me a fortune :rotfl:god knows what i get up to in my sleep?? But i am loving them, oh yours sound lovely. DD1 had her first appointments tonight, two pedicures and a file and paint, she absolutely loved it, she has 4 people to do on fri night and another 2 people on saturday :T He is moving back end of july, is still applying for jobs, hope he gets one!! You should be very pleased with yourself 2 stone is brilliant, well done, omg lemsip £17  have a lovely day tomorrow doing your last minute bits.
FEISTY oh thankyou my lovely for that link, thats much cheaper than amazon
OMO tell DD noone knows what anyones dress cost on the night, you cant tell the difference when they are all together they all just look beautiful, DD2 bought hers when we were in america it was $40 but it didnt look any different to anyone elses#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -

Nanamia I'm a pacifist but I'd like to come round and slap your neighbour silly! How rude! I had an experience on a train last year with a really vile woman calling me the c-word (and not the c-word we all love on here!) and it really shook me up, can imagine how it's worse if it's someone you see regularly. Every time you think about it and get upset (as I did for days after) try and remember the blessing that you are you, and not her.
OMO, my nephew loves the iPad and it's amazing what he can do on it, it's just so easy for them to use and explore! I feel for your DD, it's such a horrible time of fretting and insecurity - you couldn't pay me to go back to school years! Tell her all those girls will have been looking at all the same dresses in the £300 range and will know where each one came from and how much - hers will be unique and money can't buy that kind of style! I'm sure no-one would dare say anything but you should tell her that if they do, she should roll her eyes at them and say "Why would I waste that kind of money on a dress when I'm saving for the things that matter like a car/travel/university/my own place" Girls who look good are trumped by girls who look good and act grown up!
Freespirit, you and me both, I can chip gels at the drop of a hat! I also get lots of 'shrinkage' under the UV and the woman who does them is always cursing me and the amount she has to put on me to cover the tips when I get a french manicure!
Well done on the job offer kayandy, you must have really impressed them! Sorry to hear about you and the boyfriend. (Unless he was a muppet in which case...Hurrah! You're better off without him!)
I've done that thing where I was trying to save money and stick to a budget for a small but thoughtful gift for my nieces for Christmas and now worrying it looks too cheap. They're cousins and almost the same age (5) so I generally get them the same thing but one of them is the daughter of she who mustn't be named and we all know how difficult she makes life! Anyway, after seeing how my nieces adored the silver necklaces I got them for being flower girls at our wedding, I have bought them little musical jewellery boxes and I have bought little handmade bracelets with their name in ceramic beads to go inside. I deliberately chose more old-fashioned boxes so they'd feel a bit more important and grown-up (these ones: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Musicboxworld-Blue-Jewellery-Ballerina-Playing/dp/B002T3TZIY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372289727&sr=8-1&keywords=jewellery+box+musical) and the bracelets are just token things as my mum had this weird rule about not giving someone an empty box/purse/bag! I will wrap them all up nice as they love the way I make a fuss of wrapping with big bows etc but will still fret until Christmas about how cheap they are (less than £12 total!) But I'm determined not to cave in and buy something else!!
I have OH well trained - he sent me a link to a 34p kindle book of Christmas stories today! (Bought, obviously - Christmas can make anything OK, even cheap crappy stories!!)
Edited to add: My sister sent me a message asking if I'd been talking about Christmas to my nephew as he's been going on about it for days. I told her I hadn't and that for some people it's just part of our biology...like how squirrels know to stockpile nuts! Do feel a bit bad that she might have six months of his enthusiasm for it though...as he's only three and so that enthusiasm doesn't manifest itself in many sophisticated ways - it's basically a Christmas CD/DVD on repeat for 24 hrs a day!0 -
Nanamia are you in a state of frenzy yet :rotfl:
I think ( well I know) that if someone said that to me I would have squared up to them. I am not a violent person and I have found( living in a rough part of East London) that people back down if you suddenly get in there face.
I remember a friend of mine ( when we were teenagers) asking me to go out with her because someone kept threatening her. I told her I didn't want to get in a fight. And she told me that I just have to give her my ' come on then' face. :rotfl: And it worked. The girl got on the bus walked up to my friend and started. I stood up and told her to sit down while she could and she did. :rotfl:
kayandy well done on the job :T
And as for the boyfriend caitlyn said it all. And did it so well. :rotfl:
caitlyn the music boxes are lovely. The empty box thing must be an generation thing. My Mum always use to say that. It has something to do with never being broke ( poor). As in your purse will never be empty.
Tonight when I get in from work I am shaping dds eyebrows. And we will do her hair again.
I just hope she is a little calmer than last night.0 -
oh caitlyn.. i had the very same jewellery box when i was little! lol about 30 years ago lol i think i may get it for my dd3 who has recently had her ears pierced.. ty for the link!!! Oh and my dd4 keeps on putting on xmas dvds already lol. she has said that she likes seeing santa. Shes only 3 too lol.
OMO its meant to be my dd1's prom today... shes not goingafter me spending hours looking for dresses with her and her friends too.. think im sader than she is lol. I fell out with a friend of hers mum just before xmas.. said mum was being very off with me, so i pulled her up on it and it some how ended up with her making out i had an issue with her illness, which is nonsense not only myself but a number of my family deal with day in day out illness so its not something i'd do.. anyway this mum told her daughter to have nothing more todo with my daughter (9 years of friendship gone like that on her say so) this girl has really pulled the rest of their group of friends away from my dd too. Not that shes overly outwardly bothered really but havingtodeal with anxiety attacks on her own as well as that wasn't easy. Shes off to school today for her very last formal day.. in formal dress too, so she gets to say bye to the teachers and those friends who are still talking to her. but none of the preperations and giggling later.. She has said prom is more for college though lol.
I picked up the giant stockings from tescos the other day.. i didn't expect them to be so big.. i could use them as a sleeping bag LOL will be fun trying to fill those :S

I don't understand why people are so cruel. My dd doesn't have many friends. She finds girls her age annoying.
It doesn't overly bother her, but when her bestie is away she just sits at home. I have told her that her real friends will be made at uni and later in life. But that doesn't help on those lonely days. I would hate to be that age again.
I really want one of those advent calendars. I just can't find anywhere big enough to put it . It's 60 cm wide.I will keep looking.
