OMO families, eh, what a nightmare they can be! At least you have your wonderful kids, you must be so proud of your DS, and deservedly so. I had a taxi driver pick me up from another late night at work tonight, telling me all about his son graduating this summer, he was beaming with pride and I heard that niggly voice again...the one that says "What are you doing wasting time working all the hours of the day?! Have a family, that's what matters!" but that's an emotional unload for another day...:(

freespirit, I'm against cruelty to animals but do hope you're beating the BD back. (Suddenly had a thought there that BD might not mean black dog...in which case ignore me, unless it's something else you could beat without it being embarrassing or a euphemism!!)

Feisty, I'm pleased your OH is on the up. You need to have something simple and self-indulgent planned for when you can both relax, breathe a real sigh of relief and put the stress of the last couple of months behind you. A whole weekend in PJs on the sofa...or don't even leave bed!! (Can you tell I'm exhausted that these are my ideas of self-indulgent luxury at the moment!)

My wonderful BiL lost his job today. He works for a university (who I would dearly love to name and shame as they're making 69 people redundant this week but pretending in the local press that they've 'saved' the jobs) I know I'm biased but my BiL is one of those genuinely brilliant people who is annoyingly fantastic at his job, but has basically been told (after 12 years of doing it - and personally winning national awards for it in that time) that he's "not employable", along with lots of other local, born and bred people, many of people who have worked there for decades. They're being replaced (quite literally) by young, 'apprentice' types, who have no experience and who are already causing scandals. So gutted for him, he's done everything right - loads of people fought and got severance but in the hope he could stay there, he's written applications for 7 jobs there, and been interviewed for all of them. He matches the job descriptions perfectly (one of them is his EXISTING job!!) It's totally knocked his confidence, I could strangle the senior managers there. I also learned today, courtesy of our wonderful government, that anyone wanting to take a case to employment tribunal, will now have to pay for the privilege! A hearing fee is £1200!!

Anyway, trying to focus on him being better off out of there!

Nanamia, how are you? How is your OH, I had fingers crossed for good results for him yesterday. Hope your holiday excitement is in overdrive!

really sorry about your BIL. I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason. We may not know what it is right now, but it will become clear one day.

Do hope the second part of the year picks up for everyone, or we will all be on the brink by Christmas.

Thanks for the kind wishes my lovelies it seems that DH has to repeat the heart monitoring when we get back but no immediate action is necessary :) woo hoo. That is such a relief. Mrsinvisibles sad news shook me so deeply it was definitely another occasion to count my blessings.
Some of you will remember a few weeks ago me having a 'disagreement' with one of my neighbours, well today she has managed to surpass even her gutter standards. She called me a name which is too awful to repeat c*** , I was dumbfounded and then proceeded to call my DGD who is two years old :( words failed me I'm afraid. I am at a loss now as to what to do, we are going away Thursday morning so I could keep my head down until then or report her and make an official complaint tomorrow. DH hates conflict and will want me to forget it but I can't allow her to feel that she can talk/shout at me like that. (Her DD aged 6 was apologising for the way her mum spoke to me:( whilst she is still ranting and raving at me. She really is vile)

Linky you really must have the patience of a saint. Another thing Freespirit and I have in common. I no longer speak to my parents, a strange bunch they are. Over the years I've resolved things many many times just leaving myself open to being hurt again- no more. I think I just got to a point where enough was enough.
You should be a very proud mummy, specially at the moment. Your DS is a huge credit to you :) he's coping amazingly well with all this change isn't he:) You may even be able to convince him a Christmas tree is a good idea! I can't believe he managed to sort his own query out at the offices as well how good is that :) He couldn't have done it with out you xxx
Springdreams wow you are doing so well, carry on like this and you'll have a money neutral Christmas xxx
Kayandy ooh that recipe looks yum, I've saved it too. Thank you x
How are you doing? How's your BF and little brother?
Nic that was a blooming long day. Glad your DD enjoyed it too :)
Feisty glad to hear Mr Feisty is improving. About blooming time too might I add :) I'm sure he had a touch of BD get your little doggies on guard in future to yap loudly and chase it away xxx
Freespirit I had a feeling your BD was lurking too :( It's so tiring isn't it trying to keep it at bay. Have you been overdoing things? Do you have triggers that set him off again? Mine is definitely over tiredness, if I push too hard he has time to creep in, I find snoozing when I can helps, whatever the time :) Well how are your nails doing? DD has done me some bright red shellac in readiness for my hols, she's going to do my toes in the morning too:) What's happening with your boy, has he found work or is he still moving back, it'll be all change in the Freespirit household :) xxx

Final trip preperations are now underway, haircut tomorrow at 10.30( she's coming to my house) last trip to tes@o for lemsip (today's request for in the suitcase apparently they are the equivalent of £17 in Oz) and some ham for sandwiches to take to the airport and a few nibbles for DH (fruit for me) Very pleased with myself tho yesterday's weigh in I'd lost a total of two stone wooo hooo go me :) so going to try and make the right choices whilst we are away and not pile it all back on!
Caitlyn what a shame about you DBiL it makes me so mad, but I too agree with Linky so am hoping his perfect job is just waiting for him. They really don't deserve him. It's just so annoying because people who love their job and are good at it are infectious I always thing so there are going to be a lot of people worse off without him :(

I'm going to try and get some sleep now but really I'm that excited its going to be hard xxx

It's not the things you do at Christmastime

OMO Bless your son! Not only has he managed to successfully integrate himself at work, he has made a friend and took both the courage and ingenuity to make an inquiry on his own - what a superstar!

Nana so glad DH just has to be monitored, fingers crossed everything will be okay :) Not long to go now eh? Well done on the weight loss too!
