  • Hi, we'll its been a tiring few weeks but I have been reading the thread, just not posting.
Update on DS this is his third week of casts and his right leg is doing great, so much so he has been given this week off on that leg so only has a cast on his left. I've bought him and me folding bikes for when his casts are off completely, more trying to get healthy.
I have been going stir crazy being stuck indoors but it has given me time to sort my direct debits and finances etc and what with cancelling services that I kept meaning to we are now nearly £200 a month better off!!!
DS is going to be sixteen next week and I'm trying to think of a little extra for him. I plan to take him out and get some bits for the bikes and he has his dance bits but sixteen is such an awkward age.
Anyway, thank you all for the well wishes via here and text messages. We are getting there slowly but surely
  • Reformed shopaholic - so....... how is your scrapbook shaping up? Can't wait to see pics :)[/QUOTE]

    Shhh! Don't mention the S word....:rotfl:
its currently staring at me from across the room, half finished. All photo's stuck in, just struggling to come up with captions or headlines for them. Which is lucky I guess since the bleeping printer is out of colour ink.
Its a month to her birthday so no major rush but I am just so tired of it. I just get a block when I try and get on with it :(

    Vomit soap, yum yum!

Trying to sort out a collection for some of my nans furniture, but no one wants it :(

It's solid wood (mahogany I think) wardrobes and an old style dressing table. I would love them but have no space. They're from the 1950s and aren't good enough condition to auction. Just phoned VHS and explained varnish is thin in some areas, minor scuffs etc and they've said no :(
This was my one big job for nan and I've failed. The thought of seeing it go to the tip is devastating.

Have you tried freecycle - someone in need would find them a good home.

    It's SNOWING

    It is not Christmas!
  • Happy belated birthday Gleek!

FeistyFidget-Have you tried freecycle/facebook? Or charity shops? The big furniture charity shops near me definitely takes dark wood 1940s/1950s furniture. I always go over and lovingly admire the wardrobes. :o Im sure you will find someone who would love them. xx

ReformedShopaholic-I made some photobooks for christmas presents and ended up doing them without captions as I just couldnt think of anything witty/interesting to put! :o Im sure the scrapbook will all come together and look lovely. :)

Pinksteps-So glad DS is recovering well. xx

Opee-Glad the move is going well, hope all the boxes get sorted soon although I think everyone has those random boxes that never get properly sorted lol. x

OMO-Robbie is getting so big now, he's gorgeous. x

craftymummy-Glad you have got lots of ideas for Brighton, Ive never been either and really want to go. (its only an hour and a half away!) Hoping to go for a few nights in the summer holidays as Travelodge has some very cheap rooms. :)

Ive been searching for house swaps the past few days, have been wanting to swap for a while but have seriously been looking this week as I desperately want to move. Im so lonely here! Have had a response already, its much nearer to my mum (15 min walk away, at the moment its a bus and train plus over 15 minutes walking!) but the walk is over a canal bridge and down a hidden from view path which I wouldnt feel very safe walking through. If I walked round the other way through town its more like 45 minute walk. So annoying as it would be fine otherwise. Argh!

Dh is just in awe of the tv lol sadly we've had to swap sides we sleep on :O not sure thats a good move or not just yet lol.

How about purchasing a push bike? I know you wouldn't feel 100% safe, but perhaps having a bike to zip past the dodgy bits on would help?

Thanks all re: freecycle, am going round at the weekend, so will take measurements etc and put them on :)

Well my placement wants me to extend a lot of my working hours :( When I started I stressed how I only accepted because it enabled me to be at home in the afternoons to run the business. Then I stupidly agreed to cover my colleague for Thursday and Friday (which you all know I've whined about ;)) and now I've had another 2 weeks worth of full day requests :( In all honesty, I don't know what to do. Those extra hours would bring us £500 closer to the deposit, but possibly at the cost of my sanity! Still waiting on an operation date for DH and I just know if I accept it will fall on one of these days.

Sorry all, in a bit of a moany mood this week - I think my body is missing the gym ;)

  • Snuggle bunny, can I ask what survey sites you use?

I've signed up to various in the past but stopped as they would make you answer 5 minutes worth of questions and then cheekily tell you you weren't eligible so wouldn't get points!

Quite a lot still disqualify a good way into the survey unfortunately

Have you tried Swagbucks? I've been doing it for 10 days now and have already cashed out £10 in Amazon vouchers. The sign up link is on my homepage if you are interested in joining.

This thread is very useful for hints and tips on how to earn through Swagbucks

Have quite a few presents started for Christmas, can't wait :D Took advantage of the BHS jewellery bits being marked down again at the end of the sale (necklace and a pendant for £3 a set) last week which sorted 4 people already and there's a few other bits and pieces i picked up for other people to go with their main presents :)

Gleek last year you put a picture on the last thread of your wrapped Christmas presents in about June time, are we going to be treated to the same this year? :D It was great!
