  • Good evening all, need to catch up so please excuse me if I've missed anything important. Good luck with moving and new placements and jobs and babies, from what I saw on my whizz through!

Just wanted to have a little moan I'm afraid, I came to the end of my mobile contact (a month or so ago if truth be told but I hate ringing Orange so have been putting it off) and so finally rang them to see about lowering my bill. I was offered one of their standard packages, albeit with a £5 discount, however the data amount included within it was about half what I use every month, as the bloke offering it would know as he had just looked at my usage to pick a package! I told them that I could get a better deal elsewhere and they didn't even try and keep me as a customer, just sent me on my way with my PAC code and a bunch of terms and conditions! Bit put out on the whole :)

That happened to me with Vodafaone - I haven't been back since! I'm currently with T-Mobile and my bills ahve recently gone up as i'm now out of contract, it is at the top of my list to call and sort out but i'm like you, I don't like calling about these things! I'm not even sure why as i've done it loads of times before! :o
  • Hi all, I just have a quick question - would you buy any toiletries for Christmas this year now? The reason I ask is because as some of you know i'm planning to put together a chocolate themed hamper for my friend, and the Body Shop have currently got a promotion on where you get 30% off and free delivery on anything over £5. I have my eye on some Chocomania soap and Chocomania lip butter which would only cost £3.90 after discount and free p&p. I'm just not sure how well it would keep until Christmas? I've never bought things like this so far in advance before!

Yes that would be fine. Just keep them in a cool dry place.
They have a long shelve life, and are good for about a year AFTER opening.
I have bought a few smelly sets for next year.

Thanks OMO! Thinking about it there shouldn't be any reason they wouldn't be good if left unopened, I just haven't done it so far in advance before so was hesitant. I've ordered them now! We have a spare room in our house that we don't put the heating on in so it'll be perfect to store them in there.

Hello everyone, hope you're all well and well into all various sortings! :) Sorry for not being around a lot lately but the internet has been... testing my patience shall we say to put it politely(!) Hopefully things are on a bit better keel.

Have quite a few presents started for Christmas, can't wait :D Took advantage of the BHS jewellery bits being marked down again at the end of the sale (necklace and a pendant for £3 a set) last week which sorted 4 people already and there's a few other bits and pieces i picked up for other people to go with their main presents :)

I do feel like a horrible horrible ungrateful person though today :o a belated birthday present came from 2 close relatives from moonpig.com. A bottle of wine, 6 truffles, some vomit smelling soap and three bath melts for £35! How do these companies get away with charging so much for what we ladies and gents could put together for well under a tenner (!) I know you're not supposed to think about it like that :o But it just seems like such a lot of money.

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY. You kept that quiet.:rotfl:

I now exactly how you feel. It is a complete rip off. I always think about what that money could have bought.

    Happy belated birthday!
  • OMO - aaww the little man is gorgeous :)
Gleek - happy belated birthday and couldn't agree more - our lovelies can all put together beautiful pressies for minimum cost and maximum appeal :)
Princess kitty - as OMO said, I think your toiletries will be fine if unopened - your hampers sound like a lush idea
PinkSteps - been thinking of you and your DS - hope he is making a good recovery - hopefully he'll be back to his usual Twinkletoes soon
Feisty - you sound mad busy.... but 'think of the money' ;-)
NanaMia - hope your holiday is everything you dreamed it would be xxx

Hi everyone else, our snow has now gone and things have settled back into their normal routine now my hubby is home (been away for 1 month with work!) no xmas updates - am trying to be frugal at the mo and save like crazy as we hope to build an extention this year - fingers crossed. Still ticking along with knitting some pressies -
Reformed shopaholic - so....... how is your scrapbook shaping up? Can't wait to see pics :)

:rotfl: Sorry, it was the first - thank you very much :D

& Yes I'm with you completely. I could have had the time of my life spending it (*eyes amazon shiftily*)

Thank you :) And yep, it's definitely a goner at some point! The wine is personalised and I'm not clever enough to be able to make a new label to put over it so I'm just going to have to drink it :rotfl: :rotfl: And I may have already eaten half the truffles :o

It was this one though the soap is dark red. Avoid, unless you like vomit soap :rotfl:

    Vomit soap, yum yum!

Trying to sort out a collection for some of my nans furniture, but no one wants it :(

It's solid wood (mahogany I think) wardrobes and an old style dressing table. I would love them but have no space. They're from the 1950s and aren't good enough condition to auction. Just phoned VHS and explained varnish is thin in some areas, minor scuffs etc and they've said no :(
This was my one big job for nan and I've failed. The thought of seeing it go to the tip is devastating.
