morning all, we are hibernating too! I made a big beef casserole in the slow cooker yesterday, kids pj's all toasty on the radiator for them, hot dogs tonight and Die Hard I think! I dont enjoy winter or cold weather so I try and make up for it with hibernating and cosey stuff!
thanks OMO re Boots/Yankee, the tea light boxes are cheaper than elsewhere. Im burning Red Velvet Cupcake at the moment as I have the jar candle for Christmas, its lush! was so pleased with it as Ive never had a big jar Yankee before. Ive got Waikiki Melon, Turquoise Sky and Starfruit (I think its called that) votives from the new Q1 range, they are so lovely and remind me of tropical islands and summer
nanamia how adorable is your GD! glad you are having a wonderful time and also your DSIL making good recovery xx0 -

Hi all, catching up on yesterday's posts and just popping in, sorry if I've missed anything. We took cat to vets this morning, as his cheek swelled up yesterday. It's an infected scratch, so they took him in straight away to anaesthetise him and to drain the infection. dh just picked him up, he's still very sleepy but was growling at the vet (he is cute but grumpy). Good news is he's okay but unfortunately procedure not covered by our pet insurance so £156 vet bill this month."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough

oh no Petulia! I hope hes ok, poor little guy, and poor you!
one of mine is terrified of everything, the other is a fiesty little madam, my DH has never been to the annual vet visit and last year I asked him to come with me as he was off that day, he clearly hadnt beleived a word I said before ... he was telling everyone afterwards 'you should have SEEN her! you should have HEARD her!' was so funny as clearly he had never taken any notice of anything I had said - to examine her and give her her booster, they have to take the lid off the carrier, have a second vet scruff her, then put a towel over her head, she twists her legs from under her and tries to roll on her back to attack then, spits and growls and snarls, shes like something out of a horror film, when they are done and let go of her she tried to launch herself at them! OH was flattened against the wall with his eyes on stalks!thing is shes only a small cat too, its not like shes a big giant thing!! an hour later shes purring on my lap like butter wouldnt melt! We dont think they were badly treated, we got them at 18 months from cats protection but we got them directly from the owner who had to rehouse them, but I do wonder if something happened to them there as one is so scared of everything and one can be very defensive - my DD tried to show the scaredycat the snow today and she looked so scared she bought a handful into the kitchen to show her .. one sniff and she ran and hid!

Hello, that me back online after the move. It was all a bit stressful getting the last bits packed and wondering if it would all fit in the lorry. We have been in 3 days now and settling in fine.the kids started their new school on Wednesday and loved it.
Will need to read back to see how you are all getting on. Sounds like your having a good holiday Nanamia? X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Hi Nic, glad your move went well and what a relief that the kids seem to like their new school
Petulia sending you hugs, glad your little one is sorted, vet bills are always a strain on the finances eh? When our boy cat was put to sleep last week we had to foot a £159 bill
Snugglebunny that made me laugh - as always it's the quiet ones you have to watch eh!!! How amusing that your husband was sooo shocked! lol! poor lil meeoow though - horrid really to see them so distressed at the vets.
Having a very mellow day in snowy Cheshire, have started on my second knitting project for aunty's birthday... loving all this money saving as it's with yarn from my stash! And have cancelled a night out due to the snow so reckon that's at least £50 into my £2013 fund (good decision!!!)0 -

Glad the move went okay
Have had a very MSE day! Voucher was accepted fine, so managed to enjoy a luxury afternoon tea at a posh restaurant for free (I gave my best friend a lift, so she paid for parking). I made the birthday girls card and her beautiful fcuk diary set only cost me £3.50 - not badI also cheekily used a gift bag from my re-use stash (always careful never to give the recipient back there's :rotfl:) So all in all, a lovely day on the cheap!

Thanks all for your kind posts, kitty is still a little sleepy but still in a strop with us, and giving us the cold shoulder. He ate some food (the vet said to feed him very small meals today), and looks like the cat version of Scarface...
nic2075 glad to hear that your move went well and that your children are settling into their new school
Snugglebunny ikwym the vet had to put on the gauntlets for the first visit after adopting kitty last year, he's a lot calmer now
OMO well done to your dd
