I've phoned in this morning we've not had snow yet but I've had this feeling in the pit in my stomach since finding out about the snow yesterday and that's not me, plus my joints are not good today and the raynauds is flaring too. so I will stay home today and put some training bits together, it will also give me time to wrap some of mums birthday presents. I was worried about getting to work and not being able to get home

For Christmas I had 4 sherbet fountains which I know cost around £1 and a bottle of perfume which cost £30-£40. I can honestly say I was over the moon with the sherbet, and a bit disappointed with the perfume (even though the perfume was my favourite), the reason I was disappointed was because the person who bought it really couldn't afford to spend that amount.
totally agree with what you have said there, am just the same - my lovely DD bought me a box of Star Bars! they are my absolute favourite but because you cant get them in multi packs and they are so expensive to buy a single bar, I rarely do, but she knows they are my favourite! ive also had a box of pickled onions crisps! (for the same reason!) I was so touched at how much thought had gone into both gifts, and enjoy sitting down at the end of a busy day with one - and she also knows which chocolate I love in Thorntons and will go and buy me a few of those individually, those are my absolute favourite gifts as they are so thoughtful. My lovely DS bought me the big cuddley Pluto from the Disney Store for Christmas, ive always wanted one since I was a kid and Im always like a kid at Disney when we see Pluto!its the thought behind a gift means so much to me :j and with that one Ive no idea how he got it without me seeing it, he got it when we were out as a family, I think OH snuck it off to the car without me seeing, but again such a thoughtful and lovely gift, I feel so blessed to have such amazing children
I think thats why I find it so hard to understand people being rude or ungrateful about home made gifts, those would mean more to me than anything! when somebody has gone to that much thought and effort just for you, thats the real spirit of presents for me.0 -
Our local school is closed today. Took some investigating to find that out though as both the website for the local council and radio station went down due to so many people trying to get on them! We've had about 3 inches and it's still coming down quite heavy. I have a hair app this afternoon that I have to get to as not had my hair cut in forever and out for a birthday meal tomorrow! Not looking forward to it with 2 kids in tow though. :eek:Savings Account - £0.00

MsGigglewick, thats terrible, what a horrible thing to happen to your poor DD
am so glad she fought back and it really doesnt bear thinking about does it?
must have been terrible for you all - it always makes me mad when these sanctimonious people on the news waffle on about us wrapping out kids in cotton wool, how we all played outside as kids and now no kids are allowed to, like somehow we are all neurotic and these things dont really happen? well we didnt know as kids what we know now and nor did our mothers! these things really do happen and Im just so glad your DD is ok, but my heart goes out to her, it must make you worried
xxxx
Re Valentines, I usually get the M&S nice meal deal they do, and try and save some champagne from Christmas deals if I can, the kids get fed early and sent off to watch DVDs in their rooms or something and we have a nice quiet meal together - we dont do gifts tho we do cards, but for example my OH may go and get me a Starbucks and I might make a cake or get something nice in0 -

Amey, I left home this morning for my 8 mile drive across the marshes to work. No snow or ice.
Got about 6 miles in and hit winter wonderland. It took me longer to do the last 2 miles than the first 6. I havn't parked at work as I saw a car twist in the road. So I parked and walked the last little bit in. Only as we had no snow at home I am wearing canvas pumps with thick socks, and I have no coat with me. I look like a mad woman :rotfl:0 -

OMO-Well done to your DD for doing so well in school! Glad you got your Boots dispatch email.
Island_mum-Hope you have a lovely valentines day.Even though we dont really do anything I dont think theres anything wrong with spoiling each other and showing lots of love on one particular day, sometimes with busy lives/children etc these things get pushed aside without meaning to. Also doesnt mean you dont love each other the other 364 days of the year, valentines day is just a nice day to show it!
Snugglebunny8-Thanks for the body shop info, I now have some things in my basket umming and ahhing about it.Theres a set thats £6 down from £15 after the code but my inbuilt bargain alarms going but what if theres a super duper glitch later in the year where its even cheaper...:rotfl:Ok after remembering Quidco Im going to order.
(Got 4 shower gels, set of animal soaps, 3 cotton bags and large Coconut gift set for £15.45 plus 16% quidco and free delivery so not bad.)
Happy Birthday Betsie2010! :j

Happy Birthday Betsie2010!
We had snow on Mon and Tues, but none since. Its still laid from those days though.
I have finished cross stitching the letters for my sisters birthday scrapbook. Glued them to the front with some ribbon. Now to start on the inside pages. Her birthday isn't until March but once I have an idea I get so excited to get on with it I can't stop myself.13 projects in 2013 0/130
