hi peeps!
It is freezing today....sat snuggled on the sofa with my hot water bottle and blanket looking at holidays in the sun!!!
Hubby recieved a rebate on tax this week....just enough for a week away! We havent been a proper holiday together in the 4 years we've been together so its time to treat ourselves.
I was looking at 'spain' either mainland or any of their islands as I use to always go there and have many happy holidays in the past. BUT I have been looking a little further a field to Turkey. Always told myself I wouldnt go to Turkey as have heard many negatives about the country but some of the hotels I have been looking at look great and the price is right. We can stay in a 4/5 star hotel AI for 7 nights for the same price as Spain 3 star property. Has anyone been to turkey and can recommend a hotel? We are looking at relaxation and a beach front property if poss. Do not really want to be located in a busy town and do not want nightlife!!!!! any help ladies would be much appricated.
Right off to light the fire :0)
I have never been to Turkey, but there was a thread on here not long ago complaining about the price of holidays out there.
Have you thought about Greece ?
Not only are the holidays very reasonably priced but they could do with all the help they can get.0 -

We've stayed at Club Asteria near Antyala, Turkey a couple of times. All inclusive, nice variety of pools, beach area & lawns to wander round. Trips out available for extra charges if you wanted. Town a short Dulma ride away, but too far to have 'night life' bothering you. We enjoyed it.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Thanks Feisty, I think it's the material that made me decide it wasn't right - it's very practical, a bit thicker than jersey if that makes sense. Doesn't FEEL as glam as it LOOKS! However I love it and I have kept the black petticoat too, think I will wear both to OH's sister's wedding, with some fab shoes as you say! *drooling noise* shooooeeeeeessssss!
In short, it's fab and I love it but doesn't feel right the wedding. Hmmm, maybe I'm just making excuses to buy lots of dresses...
It's odd the tangles we get ourselves with family isn't it? My sister means well I'm sure but I feel like it's a vicious circle - she gets bossy, I retreat, she assumes I'm less capable so gets even bossier! Still, in the scheme of things I'm very lucky, me and my sister are otherwise very close and I've got a wedding coming up, should stop moaning really!I was looking at 'spain' either mainland or any of their islands as I use to always go there and have many happy holidays in the past. Never been so can't help I'm afraid but I'm the opposite - everyone I know who has been has absolutely loved it. Actually, a quick check says two people I know who are repeat visitors use the Marmara Bodrum and somewhere called Delphin Palace. Not sure either are AI. Have fun - I love holiday planning!0 -

Just had a look at the thread. One lady ordered 40 items only to have them all unfulfilled. And apparently they are still on the web site as showing stock. Will probably end up doing a hamper or something instead. x
FeistyFidget-I dont think Boots gifts are tat! What Im not keen on is when people just grab loads of toiletry gifts without even thinking of the personal receipient! But I dont think it matters where its from as long as the receipient has been thought of. And I buy some toiletry sets, as you say some men are very hard to buy for especially if you dont know them that well or they have everything! My OH loves getting Lynx sets as it saves us buying any (and we buy cheaper stuff!) and my stepdad loves getting Nivea stuff! You look stunning in your wedding dress.
Pinksteps-Yay at your spree, you deserve it!! xxx
caitlyn22-All I can think of RE wedding dresses is once you have them all with you (including ebay one if you win) is go through them all and think how you'd feel if you HAD to send it back, whichever panics you the most may be your dress lol! I dont envy you, it must be dress heaven/hell! x
SugarSpun-Yay so happy for you, congratulations. xxxx
MrsBunny-Fab news about the tax rebate, sorry Ive only ever been abroad once to Greece when I was 13 lol so Ill be no help but hope you have a fab holiday! xx
I had a horrible reaction to Dihydrocodeine last night. The dentist gave it to me before christmas but didnt take it before now as it makes you drowsy and my DS still gets up in the night so didnt want to chance not being able to wake. However after suffering from pain since then I was worn out and needed a good nights sleep so took one (as it said on the packet) and ate dinner literally straight after so had a full stomach. About 20 minutes afterwards I started feeling very woozy and warm/tingly and then my head started swimming/blood rushing in my ears and I felt like I was going to faint. I ended up trying (very shakily and messily) to make a milkshake hoping sugar would help but had to quickly lie on the kitchen floor before I fell down, opened the freezer door hoping the cold air would revive me and lying there for 2 hours.
To top it off it didnt take any of the pain away!! Slept on and off since then still in pain. And my OH was less than sympathetic. Feel sorry for my DS who has had a very boring day when I was hoping to take him out today for some fun mummy/son time.

thankyou for the comments so far....will check out a few hotels. We were thinking about Greece but checking with the tour ops flights it looks like we are a couple of weeks early before the flights start to operate (we have leave the last week of April.)

I'm catching up with yesterdays posts, just to say OMO sorry to hear you're having a difficult time, I've just posted in your other thread, as moneysavingmum said, we're all here when you need us x

MrsBunny, you have inspired me to drag poor DH on hols this year
We can't afford anything grand as deposit saving (and don't own passports) but I think a mid-week break to cornwall with the doggies is on the cards, off peak of course

Good plan! That's part of how I know the blue dress isn't THE ONE. Because one of the other potentials isn't quite right on me but still makes me feel pretty special. And I'm not usually an I-feel-special kind of person.
It's OK that my bedroom looks like a department store, right?
Not sure if we're in for snow or not here, there was nothing in the forecast but a few people on Facebook are mentioning sleet and snow showers nearby. Hmmm, I know it's irrational but because we're eating relatively healthily (OH lost SIX pounds this week without even flipping trying lucky sod) I've let the supplies deplete a little bit. We're particularly not buying much in the way of carbs so now I'm wondering how well we'd fare if the weather turns! Have some supplies in the freezer so we'd be fine but I do feel a little freaked to be in mid-winter without my usual stocks!
Oh, the first-world problems of a girl with too much time on her hands, eh? :rotfl:0 -

Go for it! thats all we have done for the last few years but mainly to wales...taking Fridays and Mondays off work to make them a long weekend = more getaways! Though sometimes I do think the money we spend here in the UK would get us a 2 week holiday somewhere warm! We are saving for a deposit too and a little of me wants to put the tax rebate into the deposit fund but hubby said no its for a holiday .... whoa! (secret dancing)
My passport is still in my maiden name which I now feel sad about...when I got married I wasnt bothered about changing my passport as its a lot of money when I had 8 years left on it....but now, I feel different....think I will change it soon. Plus I keep taking it for ID then I remember and have to dig out the marriage certificate!
Im still undecided on where I want to go (hubby not bothered as long as its warm and im happy!) I am a business travel agent by day so book flights and hotels all the time for my clients but its totally different for personal travel....im so fussy! I can see me booking something last minute :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!0
