Snugglebunny8 wrote: »has anyone else noticed the B0dyshop reductions are nothing like last year? popped briefly into store today and a lot of the Christmas gift sets are 25% off, not half price - this time last year they were half price with another percentage off, I bought loads of spiced vanilla bath gel for £1-something and it lasted us until easter!
Definitely! I'm still working my way through the reduced price body butters from last year. I have fallen out with the B*dyshop but I can't really remember why!! Think it was something to do with a really good offer they had on in stores but my loyalty card expired that day and they wouldn't give me the offer until I renewed my loyalty card which was going to cost £5...it was something more than that I'm sure but all I can remember is I flounced out of there promising never to return!0 -

It is only a maxi prym but already I have a good pile of knitted squares ready to make a throw. Using scrap wool that I was going to give to charity shop. Think I may be saving this year for a proper one.Thank you nic and moneysavingmumofoneI can confirm that the first new Holly and the Ivy baby of 2013 is cautiously expected, ETA mid-September.
Oh congratulations, it's so exciting. X
Well I have looked into my savings jar and I think by the end of feb I will have £200 which will cover the price of a skip hire which are so expensive. Going to clear out my garage which has become a glory hole of everybody else's junk. One brother was forever asking me to store car tyres garden equipment etc my other brother had various 'projects' that he wanted stored. I've asked them time and time again to empty it so now the patience has gone (we are looking at 23 years here). I am making arrangements with one of my older DS's and we will clear it in one day and hopefully be able to sort my rather neglected garden. I am nearly as excited at getting the skip in secret as I have been with my craft purchases....I need a life0 -
Nanamia, this is a Christmas song I wanted to post over Christmas but thought it might make you sad, but it's fitting for now! It's by Tim Minchin, who is from Australia but living here so the other way around, but I think it's lovely!

ETA: you have to listen to the whole song, it's really lovely at the end!
I do love a bit of Mr Minchin
Caitlynn, I got married in 2009 - I had it in my head that I wanted a 'proper' wedding dress. We searched for almost 2 years and my cousin (who was maid of honour) was ready to throttle me. I'm very short, so meringue dresses looked like a frumpy child playing dress upWhen my cousin picked out my dress, I instantly snubbed it, it wasn't traditional, it didn't scream wedding and it seemed too 'blingy' for me. However to stop her from killing me, I did try it - I was smitten
My point is, if you like the none traditional dress, go for it! Mine was bought in the sale for £150 and I am sure it was fate as the nasty sales assistant smirked when I told her I wanted to try it - she claimed it had been ordered by mistake and no-one had ever managed to fit into it - hah! I showed her.
Any of you that gave in and bought a bread maker, I have posted a recipe for a quick cook cheese and pepper loaf. Complete with pictures/directions on how to activate the yeast!2024 Challenges

And boy did you fit in to it - you look stunning!
I think I've definitely come round to non-traditional, the one in question is blue (I would be my something blue!) but it's not so much the style or the colour that's an issue, it's that it doesn't feel special enough if you know what I mean?! If I took away the huge netted petticoat I bought to go with it (!), the dress is actually not too different to some I wear for work - its conservative 50s style. Actually, it's this one:
http://www.20thcenturyfoxy.com/en/vintage-style-dresses/1950s-wrap-circle-dress-royal-blue
My biggest issue is my sister, who despite repeatedly saying it's my day and I should do what I want, is insisting I wear a particular type of dress, in white. It's because I'm busty and I don't doubt it would look lovely (white, short prom style with red net petticoat and red shoes) but it's just not me! I wish she would just leave me alone - I hate shopping and like just browsing when I feel like it, at my own pace and mostly online. But she keeps hounding me, about dress shopping etc. Just now she text me some pictures of a dress (she's out shopping!) and then rang me to tell me how much I'll regret not wearing white if I go for another colour. Thing is, she imagines we're similar but in SO many ways we're not. She always tells me I'll regret things if I don't do them the way she did, but I never do! (You'll regret a year out before uni, you'll regret not going to graduation, you'll regret not buying a house now...etc etc) I did feel like I should indulge her for a while as there's just the two of us and she's excited and likes dress shopping but now she has a daughter I think screw that - she can be the over-bearing Mother of the Bride in years to come!!
Sorry...slight rant there!!0 -
congratulations sugarspun :j
Feisty that photo is lovely! Dress looks amazing
I think if you buy from Boots with a specific person in mind then thats fine. If you know they will/already do like that brand then even better as its just an out and out bargain. Seems a little harsh for someone to say its just tat, there is good and bad in every shop.
Omo I often check our finances a few times a week. I say its to relax me as then I'll know were we are but to be honest its just habit I've gotten into which doesn't calm me at all. Its an endless cycle and I only really stop when I realise that worrying won't do anything to help.
Hope you are already having a lovely time Nanamia13 projects in 2013 0/130 -

Firstly, I feel your pain! My cousin that I mentioned earlier as actually more like my big sister - both grew up with my Nan, both very close for as long as I can remember etc, but everything your saying above I can relate toAdd me being afraid of confrontation to the mix and boy can it be stressful!
Firstly, that dress is drool inducing! I love 50s style and being part of the busty brigade, can I just say that wrap dresses are made for us! I always fear my bosoms will give off frumpy vibes, but 50s dresses were cut to embrace the curves! I am yet to see a busty broad not look epic in a wrap.
I can understand what you mean about it being the same as work dresses, can I ask why you decided not to go with the petticoat? I think they add a lot of glamour to a dress, and help to set it apart from everyday where. You could team the petticoat to match your colour scheme, and even have a sash made in a matching colour to contrast the waist on the dress.
I think shoes will really make this outfit pop! (okay, I may be shoe mad) Teamed with a gorgeous updo, some hair sparklies and some jewellery, I think you will look amazing!
Go with what you feel comfortable with, if you like the style but worry the dress is too plain (and your not keen to spend on adding to it) then what about a similar 50s wrap dress, just more bridal? x2024 Challenges

hi peeps!
It is freezing today....sat snuggled on the sofa with my hot water bottle and blanket looking at holidays in the sun!!!
Hubby recieved a rebate on tax this week....just enough for a week away! We havent been a proper holiday together in the 4 years we've been together so its time to treat ourselves.
I was looking at 'spain' either mainland or any of their islands as I use to always go there and have many happy holidays in the past. BUT I have been looking a little further a field to Turkey. Always told myself I wouldnt go to Turkey as have heard many negatives about the country but some of the hotels I have been looking at look great and the price is right. We can stay in a 4/5 star hotel AI for 7 nights for the same price as Spain 3 star property. Has anyone been to turkey and can recommend a hotel? We are looking at relaxation and a beach front property if poss. Do not really want to be located in a busy town and do not want nightlife!!!!! any help ladies would be much appricated.
Right off to light the fire :0)Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!0
