Thanks lovelies. Will pop back when I've packed...... I may be some time x
Feeling a bit more human today, i spent yesterday picking up my needles for the first time in a month and so far i have knitted half a dress for libbie. (can't find a school dress that will fit her so knitting her one just for the time being, yep i know its probably worth £40 as its best aran but the wool was just sat there collecting dust and well i think its actually made me sit and relax) shall have to think of some new projects todo, can't believe how much i've missed it.
My estranged father is currently in surgery. He is having a tumour/s. removed i think (i only know what i've heard on the grapevine, apparently he's tried to get in contact with me but even though he has access to my address (he sends dd1 bday cards, not the others), and email address cause he's always sending junk mail on. he hasn't made much effort. Long story behind why we no longer are in contact but it still doesn't make me stop and think that my father is going through that and i should be feeling something or even be there :S disfunctional families don't you just love them
On the brighter side, dd4 woke up asking to go to school! guess she isn't going to be a nightmare like the others all were after all.
Need to think of something funny as a valentines pressie for dh.. ideas anyone? he has a nerdy sense of humour, likes sci fi, murder dramas, outdoors... (im trying very hard to save up so he can have a balloon ride for his 40th so nothing along those lines really.) just something silly.Totally debt free wohooo 2014
Christmas 2014
Presents bought **** rrp **** Saved ****
*SAVE*SAVE*SAVE*0 -
morning all
Bhatti - good luck with your new venture!
Lazysheep - thanks for your reply, I think I will go with the bank account, I may still do a bit per month on a savings card as I buy my food there and also stuff like advent calendars, chocolates etc, but will limit my exposurexx
Nic - I dont think you are over reacting at all, we are programmed as mothers to always be watchful and wary of any danger, real or not, to our children, I think we've become so tuned in to our Mum Antennaes that its a good thing. (for them, probably not so much for us!!) The people who get out of fires are those who have thought through an escape plan, have working, checked fire alarms on each floor, and have made a plan that the whole family knows about. My OH is a bit like yours but I think that is a guy thing - we worry, they roll their eyes!
We have a plan that if there was a fire downstairs my OH would go for DD, purely because hes bigger and stronger and shes taller than me at 15 so it would be much more practical for him to lift her if need be, I would go for DS as hes smaller - there is always towels in the airing cupboard which is by DS's door, I would grab one on way to DS, we would gather in DS room as it is over a roof that slopes downwards, stuff towel along bottom of door once we are in to limit smoke. I always have my mobile right next to the bed so would dial 999, in the meantime, everyone out of DS' window onto the sloping roof, if need to jump down we could as it's above front door, onto lawn.
I made sure we all knew this and knew what to do if any issue, I had fire brigade (they did area to area checks) put smoke alarms on both floors in the right places, I check them weekly, also I have plug in carbon monoxide alarm which would be very loud in the event of an issue.
If you can take control and make a full plan like this, make sure everyone knows it, write it down for them, you will feel a lot better about the new house once you've put yourself in control of your worrieshope that helps! xxxxx
DomRavioli and FeistyFidget wishing you both lots and lots of luck with IVFxxx

thank you moneysavingmumofone and nanamia she felt the english lit went well, she has music and maths today and is coping well with the revision, fingers crossed! DS still off, thoguht he would be ok today but it is a funny thing, one eye can change in the space of an hour or between drops, one minute both are fine then one is pink again grrr!!
Nanamia I hope you have a brilliant time and a safe journey
OMO you cope any way you need to honey. We had a few years where pretty much everything went to ****, just a horrible horrible time, but I felt that by getting angry about the injustice and unfairness of it all, shouting and throwing stuff it actually made it easier for me to cope with, in an odd way, I felt stronger. Also I found (again - oddly) that some of those daft old sayings about 'its always darkest before dawn' etc seemed to help, I kept thinking the universe is meant to balance everything out, so for all this **** there will be something great around the corner ... doesnt work for everyone of course! I will find that book/cd and let you know the name of it as it helped so much I couldnt beleive it, its one of the Paul McKenna ones.
When it all got too much for me, I buried myself in a book, as I found if I listened to music or watched tv my mind would wonder to my problems, yet when you are reading you can't concentrate on anything but what you are reading so it blotted it all out a bit. If not - some really ragey rock music that you can shout along too helped me too!!
My dad was a chronic alcoholic, I understand what you are going through on that score, so feel free to pm me if you want to talk, I will help if I possibly can xxxxx0 -
Thanks for the advice Snugglebunny for great advice. We do have a plan for this house, but didn't want to mention it too much to the kids as DD was worried it would actually happen. But I'll put a plan in place for the new house and I will feel much happier.
DD's new room is right next to the back door and the room next to hers has French doors, so as long as we keep a key in a place she can reach then I hope she could get out if we couldn't ge to her. Someone yesterday suggested using a baby monitor, I have one sitting her, so I will use that too at night until I get used to the sounds of a new house. X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Glad you are feeling better mrsgigglewick and have found your knitting again. Looking forward to seeing some finished pics. X
Goodluck Nanamia with your packing. X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
I am in such a CBA mood today, i am driving myself nuts so thought i would pop on here quickly,
BUNBUN2 there is nothing wrong with you, its just a sign of the times, everybody gets wrapped up in their own lives, life goes so fast and people have such busy lives, and noone seems to have time for anyone else, its the same with families, they move so far apart and then family gettogethers are pushed to the sidelines, with less and less effort being made by everyone.
MONEYSAVINGMUMOFONE sending lots of hugs we are all here if you need us
NANAMIA thankyou for those lovely kind words, the last bit did make me giggle, your bargains sound fab, glad you have treated yourself. What a lovely idea giving presents every couple of days to your DGD, the things that go through little ones heads, bless em. Hope you get to speak to your DSIL before you go away.
MSGIGGLEWICK glad you are feeling better in yourself and your knitting helped, your DD dress sounds fab. I have been estranged from my mum and stepdad for 12 years now so i completely understand your feelings.
SNUGGLEBUNNY i have never thought of doing that, i am going to sit down with my girls tonight and discuss a plan, thankyou.
Right ive been on here and had a coffee, i need to get going and get the hoover out, speak later.#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Congratulations on the IVF news Domravioli. Fingers crossed for another Christmas baby.
Feisty- egg donating is a very kind thing for you to do. Hopefully you will get all the answers you need and then have some good news to share with us all in time too.
Hoping everyone is doing OK.
Feels like I have done a lot of jobs today, only polished and tidied living room a bit.
Nanamia- in case I don't pop back on just wanted to say have a wonderful time.13 projects in 2013 0/130 -
I find just having a plan and always having mobile next to bed (switched on!) keys in lock etc makes me feel better, I know what you mean Nic about worrying the kids though - with mine it came up in a conversation about knowing what to do in an emergency like 999 etc, making sure they could recite address, directions, numbers etc, they we got onto what the symptoms were of stroke, heart attack etc and what you should do, but did it in a general way as in 'if you were walking down the street and it happened to someone', the fire escape plan came about on holiday, they were looking at the fire escape plan map on the inside of the door and we suggested we should have one of those too0

I am soooooooooo not used to being at home right now. All those evenings I was at work, thinking of what I could be doing at home. Now I am here, I have no idea what to do and really no inclination to do anything.
I am lost.
Ds has just phoned from his bedroom to tell me we are being burgled.
2 years of reminding him I work evenings, and now 2 more years reminding I don't work evenings, and I am the burglar making the toast.:rotfl:
OMG There is an Ice Cream Van outside.:eek:0 -

Look here ..http://www.thinkgeek.com/ for more ideas. Sometimes you can pick up stuff at Play/Hut that was/is on this site cheaper.0
