    Hello!

I posted a little on last year's thread so my resolve this year is to post more often and not just lurk, but mainly to learn how to post pictures!!!!

Can I take this opportunity to say thank you to you all for all your fabulous ideas, sharing them and taking the time to let us know about bargains!

I can't believe that this thread has already 51 pages! But I've started shopping/crafting for next Christmas (hehe it's this Christmas!) so does that make me daft enough to stay!?!

  • Sugaspun, is your DD ok? I know what you mean, makes you see red mist doesnt it? hope it's all ok today and that they come down hard on the child and parents, sending her hugs - Im sure you are like me and become Mummy Tigress if anyone does anything to upset or hurt my children. PS good tactic sending OH! as when mine were smaller I would sort of wind myself up a bit and end up glowering at the offending child the following day, despite calm words with the teacher I could never stop myself sending death rays with my eyes as I walked past the child in question!

sending you hugs too, I know its such an awful feeling xx

Freespirit, I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you, thats a terrible thing to go through and it also sounds like you are a really strong person, probably more than you give yourself credit for - you went into coping mode and worked your way through it, and worked out HOW to get through it, I'm so glad you are feeling so much stronger, and hopefully we can all support you and help with the anxiety and make this a really good year for you *hugs* xxxx

Nanamia - 2 days to go!!!!!! xxx

Poppygirl I can't beleive it either!!!!! 53 pages in 2 weeks! Go Us!

DD has her first GCSE mock this morning and DS is poorly with conjunctivitis after a heavy cold :( Im just going to do a bit of her paper round for her round out road as she has still lots of revision when she gets home at lunchtime :(

went and had a look at the savings cards in Mr S this morning, as well as the £5,10 etc gift cards, there is a savings card you can top up at the till or at customer services, so am thinking of getting one and topping it up a little each week, but then Im thinking if I were to lose it the money is gone, so do I just put that money in the bank? Ive got a basic seperate current account that I put any extra money in during the year and a little bit each pay day and use for Christmas so maybe Id be better off just using that, what do you all think is best?

Ive got so far a £10 M&S gift card, £5 of Nectar points and £50 saved for next Christmas, plus Im up to £7 payable on VO and have £10 amazon gift card, but with kids birthdays am sure most of that will be heading birthdaywards!

Thanks again lovely ladies for you nice words and advice. I feel a bit better today. I see the CPN every 2 weeks, but due to being away for funerals, Christmas and her holidays, I haven't seen her since October. I had asked the doctor to get in touch with her for me and she called yesterday. She is on holiday, but spoke to me for half an hour and it was a big help. Not sure if I'll be able to get the same help down at the new house, but I'll ask. X

bhatti, I used to be a Holistic therapist. I started by going round peoples houses, then I got a room in a chiropodist. I found the home visits hard as I had to lug the bed up and down flights of stairs. I was in Glasgow and most folk seemd to live in flats.
I enjoyed working in the chiropodist. It was lovely having the room all set up nice. But I found it a lovely relaxing time and it's probably the most chilled out I've ever been. It was hard work promoting myself and I only gave up after expecting my 2nd baby.
I didn't charge enough I don't think as I was trying to build a good clientele then put the prices up slowly.
This is what I charged in 2004-2007

Back neck and shoulder massage £15
    Full body massage £35
    Reflexology £25
    Indian head massage £15
I did Reiki too but I cant remember what I charged for that.

If there's anything you want to know or if I can be any help, please ask x

  • Hi everyone,

sorry to hear about your dog Feisty, so upsetting losing a pet, they are such a big part of the family.

Hugs to all suffering with depression and anxiety. Having not suffered myself I don't want to say too much for fear of not knowing what I'm talking about. Just wanted to say that this is a nice place(this thread anyway, some of the others out there are a little scary) full of lovely people who are always ready to listen, offer advice/support or just some kind words.

Yesterday I was early for work so had a wander around asda. Managed to pick up some Phineas and Ferb p.js for my nephew for Christmas reduced from £5 to £3. Got the next size up just to make sure.
The box in the spare room is starting to come together with little odds and ends. They had all kinds of little cookbooks (those small Good Housekeeping ones) reduced. But didn't bother with any of those.

Just browsing the Matalan sale to see any bargains, seen some of those ugg type boots half price that may pick up for my niece to put away. Reduced from £8 to £4.

If it were me I'd use the bank account if you know you won't spend it. I would be too paranoid about losing the card and what if you don't see enough in Sainsbugs next christmas to spend your card on? The money would be locked in there but if it was in your bank account you can spend it wherever you need to.
  • oh yep, dd3 was with me last time we were in there and we were in town too early this morning (had done big shop by 8:30 lol) so will have to try and get in there sometime this week before their sale finishes (though they usually have the 10 for £10 thing too don't they) Was going to ask my sil to nab their autographs for me next time they are in their work (she works for itv news) bet she forgets though lol

Feeling a bit blah, guess its the january blues (actually could happily sit and cry but don't ask me why shrugs)

Had a wander around wilkos while getting pet food, nothing worth picking up in their sales, boots didn't have anything i wanted to buy at 50% either, bhs i forgot to go in and they don't have the kirstie allsop bowl i was eyeing up left.. bank is happy though. Think im going to keep my eye on the clothes shops sales for the girls this year, they have so much 'tat' making a mess everywhere, think its gonna be a practical xmas this year.

    Hi everyone :)

Not been on for a week or so, been rather poorly, bogged down with uni, applying for jobs and general post-christmas stuff.
Anyway, onto better news. I had a phone call this morning from the IVF centre, we have been approved for a full cycle of treatment, so we may have a Holly and the Ivy baby, I will keep you all posted as and when I know - we don't start until the end of Jan.

Hope you are all keeping well, and hello to the newbies and lurkers :)

That is wonderful :T We may be looking into me egg donating so we can get a reduced bash at private IVF (NHS have said no treatment with them until I'm 30 :() I would just like to have my reoccurred miscarriages looked into first - would hate to pay out and then lose another :(

Nana, so glad you will be with us still :)

Best bargain of the week has to be 80 yards / 73.15 metres / 7315 cms of assorted ribbon for £1.65!!!!! :rotfl:
