!!!!!!, missed my bus to work
the trouble with working in a 'village' (even though it's got a hospital, college and train station) is that the buses only run every two hours there
And we're short staffed today. Dammmmmn. Love my job but god I need a car.
In the spare time I have before my next bus I'm going to get some more wrapping done and tidy up the mess I left last night from making my sister's earringsI got to 10pm and was knackered, went to bed and had the most awful face pain ever. I thought initially it was just toothache but it went up and down my face - sinuses, underneath my eye, along my jaw and out to my ear - and just wouldn't stop. Hell. Don't know what it was but I woke up crying at 3am from it
Seems to be ok now though?!

A quick question to ipad owners , looking online there are lots of add ons are there any that you would say are really needed? ie keyboard etc ?
I'd definitely say get a case or a cover of some kind! The last thing you'd want after spending that kind of money is a dent or a massive scratch on the screen
Some of them double as a stand so you can use it for watching videos, but that's your call really. I've never really felt the need for a keyboard or any other accessories though, because the main reason I prefer our ipad 2 over our pc is the fact it is lightweight and not attached to things by a million and one cables. It's so easy to use, I just open the lid of the cover and it's instantly on and ready to use, perfect!0 -
afternoon all...
Well to add to my list this week...ds2 is off school AGAIN! This time was very scary and after going to A&E this dreaded cold has turned into Croup :-( He's battled on at school all week due to having his xmas performances but he was so rundown during the night and tears started and the tickly cough turned into a chesty hacking cough...on top of his cold and tonsils being up...my poor wee man.
So he's on docs orders for a weekend of rest and cuddles along with the usual steam and meds to keep his temp down. Just means he sadly can't play King Herod in the church nativity and will almost definitely miss his beavers party at a climbing centre on Monday...I'm praying hard for him that he will be well for Weds as it's his Christmas Party and school and xmas dinner on thurs.
He's never been a sickly child but this last 2 months he's caught everything going...he had 100% attendance last school year...it's heartbreaking seeing him so sorry for himself-he's a bouncy loud boy but not at the moment.
So tomorrow i'm staying in and making mince pies, today i'm tidying my house and doing jobs whilst ds2 rests in bed...he has the ipad and his 3ds and some books so he's quite pleased lol!
Not sure what i will manage Christmassy next week...I do have a df and her son coming over on tuesday but may need to cancel that sadly...we only get together once a term...
hugs and love to all that need them...that includes me, feeling sad and deflated now. xxxDon't tell me this nothing...this is my nothing0 -
Forevertotell- its awful when your little ones are poorly- especially around holiday time. Hopefully he will be rested enough to take part next week- and there are always other years for parties and performances xxx
ChrissyG- definitely get a case, as others have said its a lot of money to go unprotected.
nanamia- DD and I are very close ( as is DS and me) I think that's why I am feeling so low about it. DS lived at home whilst at Uni but her ladyship is adamant that she is moving out to experience student life. I cant blame her.
Friday 13th is hitting hard here- DS just rang to say he hasnt got the job he had an interview for on Wednesday and he is gutted. DH has had a bust up with his boss, and to top it all just found out that BIL is in hospital with an unexplained gastro bleed. Its the latest in a long list of medical issues he is struggling with, so its a little tense until he hears about his results.
On the plus side, picked up the dress for sis from Matalan and for a fiver it looks pretty expensive!! Bunged it in a Christmas box and that's the wrapping sorted! DD coloured my hair (interpreted as hid the grey hairs!!) and I had my eyebrows done yesterday on the spur of the moment (and boy did it HURT!!!) so I'm ready and as 'simply gorgeous dahling' as I will ever be. Not gonna get a chance now to watch Nativity- roll on bedtime and let this sh**ty day end.(and now I cant post emoticons-grrr!)lovin' this site!

Fever.. Go with how he is feeling, he may feel up to the Churchy bits.. 2 days is a long time with children!! My son went literally from deaths door to ok in 4 days and my niece from ventilator to running about like a nutter within 8 hours!! I'm the same though, never get anything and I've been ill the last 2 weeks, I think there has been a rise in crazy germs lately.
I have FINALLY got the Xbox One for OH so I am all sorted happy chickens here.. I did order from 3 places mind.. the one I had on preorder since August is not guaranteed until the end of January!!! .. Once again Tesco came up trumps!
My best Christmas present ever.. DD1 is HOPEFULLY getting a house down my street.. she has been living in a hovel the last few years with my grandboy she has no heating or hot water so hopefully for Christmas she will get both.. and get the house here in a much nicer safer area away from her psychotic neighbour who has made threats of violence and is just a scumbag. *everything crossed*LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Afternoon everyone, i have had a nightmare night, while i was typing post last night i kept hearing weird noises outside like popping and cracking noises, i thought what the hell is ndn doing at this time of night, i pressed send, then got up as i walked through conservatory i saw orange flames, again thought fgs why is he having a bonfire at this time of night and why up near the bungalows, then realised it was a fire in his shed, i heard a lot of shouting and 'they are on their way' so i woke DD1 up then someone was hammering down the door shouting 'fire get out, get out' i just went to mush as usual, DD1 practical as ever, said grab the dog and keys and we went running out, had to move her car onto the green, fire engines arrived, i was beyond terrified that it was going to spread to ours as we are joined, i have no house insurance, and was shaking from head to toe thinking oh god iv lost everything, (thats anxiety for ya) DD1 kept saying mum it doesnt matter we are all out safe thats all that matters!!! we were stuck out on the green for nearly 2 hrs while they put it out, thank god they caught it in time to contain it so it didnt spread, but the roofs of the sheds are made of asbestos  so that was dangerous in itself, finally DD1 went over to firemen and asked if we could go back in they came in and checked house and garden over because fire had gone up telegraph pole and gone bang (ha can you believe i thought oh no i wont be able to talk to my xmas peeps) i thought it was just the phone line but it was electric box, said yes but we would be getting a knock in about 45 mins from electric board to cut off electric, i quickly boiled kettle as smoke had got on my chest and couldnt stop coughing, but bless em they got to it from ndn garden and fixed it so we were only without electric about 1 hr, so by the time we got to sleep it must have been gone 2am, woke up this morning with migraine, went back to bed then banging on door again about 11  we need to check your garden, omg i could hardly open my eyes and didnt even check who the hell they were  so i am afraid its going to be another afternoon on the sofa watching a xmas film and this time i dont care one jotYep Freespirit I have. Had a couple of festive days really, keep borrowing DGD2 she never fails to make us smile
Last night was her sleepover night as usual so we went to playgroup this morning, Christmas music, lists for who is bringing what to next weeks Christmas party, making baubles and Christmas cards. Generally chatting and having fun. Then her Dad picked her up. DH and I had some lunch and then my lovely girly neighbours, DD and I went to Manchesters Christmas markets
We only bought a drink and the others had burgers but we had such a good laugh and lots of Christmas fun
I really am so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people. Except DD said I was embarrassing her haha and she is coming again haha till next year. Lovely neighbours and I (not DD) have promised to plan a few more treats out together. The markets were very similar to previous years so didn't even have to spend was going to treat DH to some fudge but a blue bottle landed very close to it so I changed my mind! (DD was embarrassed by this too apparently) Feeling really quite festive xxx
Freespirit remember that quote cos it's going to be our new mantra for the coming yearArgha I didn't realise you could mix scents too, with the wax tarts, I may google. And it'll be all your fault xxx
So glad you have had a lovely few days, and you managed to get to xmas market with your lovely ndns and DD, i think i embarass my kids a lot too its our job!!Freespirit the markets will cheer you upI have no doubt. Are you going Saturday and staying over? xxx
I am totally biased but I love that citynight night xxx

Severely suffering with CBA for the last few days - decorations are supposed to go up this evening and the house is not up to my standards of cleanliness (I know I'm not supposed to be aiming for perfection!) so I plan to do a really frantic 2 hour clean and then enjoy putting the decs up.
I haven't delivered any more cards, and still haven't got bff pressies posted (need to check last postage date) also I used my gingerbread house cutters, went to assemble yesterday and realised I'm a roof tile short! In sheer frustration I've started eating the pieces, and I honestly don't know if I can be bothered to make another batch - feeling very tired and emotional over the shop being packed up next week. Still trying to keep positive, it's just so flipping hard!
Oh FEISTY there is a lot of it going aroundi thought you were going to say in sheer frustration you lobbed it at the wall
but eating it is much better. I know it must be hard to stay positive and god if i was in your shoes it would all have defeated me by now, all you have had to put up with this year, but you arent called FEISTY for nothing, so keep your chin up, and get through it as best you can my lovely
BLUEEYEDGIRL sending you some anti CBA vibes over :rotfl:
QUIDSY hope you and DS have fun making your gingerbread house this weekend
MURIE sending you hugs honey
KISSMENOW sending you some pain free vibes my lovely that sounds blooming painful
FEVERTOTELL hope DS recovers quickly to enjoy his christmassy events

OMG freespirit, what a fright but thankfully no one hurt or serious damage done but one pices of advice, no matter what the cost, get some blinking contents insurance, 10k minimum at least.
Hope your weekend goes better than last nightI don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Its me again i have a question, is anyone on here really superstitious and into the meaning of things, if so, do you know any folklore/superstitions about white owls? DD1 was driving home from work on monday and a white owl swooped down in front of her and looked at her, she came home and said it was really cool, then said i wonder what it means, so we looked it up and it means bad luck/death around youDS rang to say he hasnt got the job he had an interview for on Wednesday and he is gutted. DH has had a bust up with his boss, and to top it all just found out that BIL is in hospital with an unexplained gastro bleed. I just googled 'ipad accessories' as I couldn't think what else you might need, and saw this! http://www.play.com/stores/TheClickStore/listing/861488922
Oh the horror, the HORROR!
ETA: Freespirit, that sounds horrifically scary, I'm so glad you're all ok! I'll admit the end of your post did make me smile though, how British is it that the first thing you want to do after something like that is go and put the kettle on, you'd get on great with my DHI personally wouldn't worry about the owl thing though, as far as I'm concerned the only thing it means is that you've got a lot of tasty owl-food around at the moment, and there's probably going to be one less squeaky friend visiting someone's house now!
